Abstract

Pesticides are the most widely used chemicals to control pests and diseases in Indonesia, especially in plantations, including oil palm plantations. Exposure to pesticides can cause health problems and death. One of the most common health problems caused by exposure to pesticides is contact dermatitis. This research was an analytic observational with a cross-sectional design. This research was conducted in oil palm plantations in Banyuasin Regency in April - October 2016, with a sample of 60 respondents; the samples were taken randomly. The results of the analysis found contact dermatitis (62%), incomplete use of personal protective equipment (58.3%), eating/drinking/smoking during application (61.7%), and not decontaminating after exposure to pesticides (76.7%). Statistical test results showed that length of work, respiratory exposure, use of personal protective equipment, and decontamination after spraying were associated with contact dermatitis (p v < 0.05). Workers cause contact dermatitis after spraying, not cleaning the body, and not using personal protection completely and according to standards. Therefore, companies must provide a special room for cleaning the body, and personal protective equipment must be available completely and according to standards.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Musyarakah Mutanaqisah (MMQ) scheme in the iB Muamalat Asset Refinancing Syariah product at Bank Muamalat Indonesia. MMQ is a joint ownership contract with a gradually decreasing share, combining elements of musyarakah and ijarah as a Sharia-compliant alternative to conventional refinancing. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach using a case study method, involving in-depth interviews, product document analysis, and literature review, including fatwas from the DSN-MUI and regulations from the OJK. The findings indicate that the implementation of MMQ complies with Sharia principles and applicable regulations. This scheme offers benefits to customers in the form of gradual asset ownership without interest, and provides profitability and payment certainty for the bank. However, operational challenges such as limited customer understanding, complex administrative procedures, and suboptimal digital systems need to be addressed. Enhancing public education, training for human resources, and strengthening technological infrastructure are necessary to support the sustainability and scalability of the MMQ product.

Abstract

Accountability is an essential control mechanism in ensuring the achievement of optimal results in the process of providing public services. This process includes understanding tasks and functions, planning, implementation, and evaluation of achievements, all of which can influence the activities of other parties, especially service recipients. This research aims to evaluate the implementation of accountability principles at the "Nakula" Ampah Cooperative during the 2021–2024 Financial Year period, by referring to the Permenkop dan UKM No. 20 /Per/M.KUMK/IX/2015. The research focus is directed at three main dimensions of accountability in cooperatives, namely organizational accountability, service management accountability, and financial accountability. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of direct observation and analysis of cooperative annual report documentation. The research results illustrate that although cooperatives have tried to implement accountability principles according to regulations, there are still a number of weaknesses, especially in low member participation and the delivery of information from management to members. One indicator of weak accountability is the decrease in the value of Remaining Business Results of 37.66% in the last financial year compared to the previous year. This decline shows that there are problems in the efficiency of cooperative business management and the lack of periodic performance evaluations, coupled with the lack of awareness among members to commit to repaying loans on time. This research recommends increasing the management capacity of administrators, digitizing financial reports, and strengthening internal and external monitoring mechanisms to increase accountability and sustainable performance of cooperatives.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease caused by decreased insulin secretion, resulting in an increase in blood glucose levels in humans. This disease is still difficult to cure until now. Furthermore, diabetes is the main trigger for blindness, heart and kidney disease which can cause premature death almost all over the world. The problem faced is because of this large number, of course, every hospital and even the existing clinic needs a system that can help them quickly determine the results of all diabetes tests and classify which patients have the risk of diabetes, prediabetes even those affected by hypoglycemia or very low blood glucose levels. The main advantage of the fuzzy method is its ability to overcome uncertainty in the diagnosis of diabetes. Expert systems with the fuzzy method can handle varying variations in symptoms and severity by assigning weight or degree of membership to each symptom or condition. This allows the expert system to generate more accurate diagnoses based on the severity of the patient's symptoms and condition. The input variables used consisted of fasting blood sugar levels, sugar levels after meals, blood pressure, and body mass index. The output is in the form of detection results of positive and negative patients with diabetes. In the testing stage, the researcher performs calculations manually and implements the performance of the Fuzzy Sugeno method using the Java programming language. Where the data used, sourced from the PT. Primary. It is hoped that the output of this study will be an accredited journal.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has reduced access to reproductive health services and limited socialization and health education during social or physical distancing. The government was gradually implementing the new norm era, we still have to be vigilant and follow health protocols, which in principle are clean and healthy living behavior by means of communication as a medium for sharing information/health education. The aim was to improve and change behavior, as well as women's independence regarding reproductive health. The method of activity was to provide education about reproductive health care for women in the new normal era, through online seminars. The results obtained good knowledge of pre-test 61%, post-test 90%, less knowledge of pre-test 39%, post-test 10%, means that the health care education has an effect on improving health. Abstract

The issue of solid waste is becoming increasingly complex in line with population growth and the expansion of residential areas, while the capacity of final disposal sites remains very limited. The absence of waste segregation at the source leads to accumulation, contributing to environmental pollution, the spread of diseases, and flooding due to clogged drainage channels. This study aimed to analyze changes in students’ knowledge, attitudes, and practices before and after a waste-sorting educational intervention at SD Negeri 119 Palembang in 2025. A pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest–posttest approach was employed, involving 104 fifth-grade students selected through total sampling. The intervention consisted of waste-sorting education using audio-visual media, accompanied by pretest and posttest assessments. The findings revealed significant improvements in students’ knowledge (67.40 to 91.15), attitudes (23.28 to 32.56), and practices (12.72 to 22.90). The Wilcoxon test confirmed statistically significant differences between pre- and post-intervention scores (p < 0.05). These results highlight that audio-visual media–based education is effective in enhancing students’ knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding waste sorting. Continuous implementation of similar programs in schools is strongly recommended to foster environmentally responsible behavior from an early age.

Abstract

Adolescence is a critical period of rapid physical and psychological development, making adolescents vulnerable to reproductive health issues. Breast cancer remains one of the leading health concerns for women in Indonesia, and early detection through breast self-examination (BSE) is crucial for reducing mortality rates. This study aimed to identify the barriers and needs of adolescent girls regarding early breast cancer detection through BSE using a mixed-methods approach. A mixed-methods design was used, combining a quantitative cross-sectional survey with qualitative in-depth interviews and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs). The target population was adolescent girls aged 15–24 years who attended high school and lived with parental support. The sample consisted of 172 adolescent girls, selected using purposive sampling for the quantitative analysis. Participants for the qualitative component were also chosen through purposive sampling. Quantitative data were collected using a questionnaire adopted from the 2017 Indonesian Demographic and Health Survey (IDHS) and analyzed through univariate and bivariate methods. Qualitative data were analyzed inductively using NVIVO software. BSE behavior was significantly influenced by age (p = 0.010), ethnicity (p = 0.000), social environment (p = 0.002), internet access (p = 0.011), information media (p = 0.000), family (p = 0.000), and peer influence (p = 0.000). Barriers included limited knowledge, lack of confidence, and communication gaps. Social and environmental factors significantly influence BSE behavior. Developing an interactive, application-based breast care education model can address these barriers and enhance BSE practices among adolescents.
