Abstract

Disaster mitigation education is critically important to introduce from an early age, as young children are among the most vulnerable populations during disasters. This study aims to examine the implementation of disaster mitigation education in early childhood education (ECE) settings and identify teachers' needs in delivering disaster-related content to young learners. A survey method was employed involving 67 ECE teachers in Badung Regency. Data were collected through a Google Forms questionnaire distributed via WhatsApp and analyzed using descriptive quantitative analysis. The findings revealed that only 11.9% of teachers frequently conduct disaster response simulations with children, while 19.4% rarely conduct them, 62.7% occasionally, and 6% never. Regarding content coverage, 89.4% of teachers include both pre-disaster and during-disaster phases in their instruction, while 10.6% focus solely on the during-disaster phase. The disaster simulation types implemented include earthquakes (77.6%), fires (9%), floods (7.5%), and volcanic eruptions (4.5%), while 1.4% of teachers do not include any disaster simulations. Additionally, 98.5% of teachers expressed the need for technology-based and interactive disaster mitigation learning media, while only 1.5% considered traditional simulations adequate. The study concludes that introducing disaster mitigation education at an early age can equip children with essential knowledge and skills for effective disaster response. Therefore, engaging and contextually relevant learning media and activities are crucial for enhancing disaster preparedness education in early childhood settings.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the importance of the prenatal or pregnancy period for the growth and development of individuals in the future, based on a developmental psychology approach. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that the prenatal period is an important period because in this period basic things are formed, such as genetic innate traits, gender, position of the order of children, and number of children. In addition there are things that must be considered during the prenatal period such as nutrition and maternal health, vitamins, rhesus, drugs, alcohol, cigarettes or tobacco, x-rays, as well as maternal emotions during pregnancy. The psychology of the development of the prenatal period provides an overview of special characteristics, important conditions, and things that need to be considered during the prenatal period so that relevant parties can support the creation of a posivite environment for pregnant women and the fetus in the womb

Abstract

The low level of Balinese speaking skills among early childhood children is caused by the lack of engaging and innovative learning media available in early childhood education (ECE) institutions. This study aims to develop an interactive multimedia tool designed to enhance the Balinese speaking abilities of young children, hereafter referred to as Malali (Malajah Bahasa Bali) Interactive Multimedia. The research method used is research and development (R&D) following the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The subjects of this study included 12 experts (comprising 3 content experts, 3 media experts, 3 instructional design experts, and 3 Balinese language experts), 1 teacher, and 31 children from group B. Data were collected through interviews, observations, questionnaires, and a Balinese speaking ability assessment instrument, all of which had undergone validity and reliability testing. The results showed that the Malali interactive multimedia tool demonstrated a high level of validity and was deemed feasible for use in the learning process. Thus, the Malali Interactive Multimedia is effective in developing Balinese speaking skills in early childhood. This media can serve as an alternative, engaging, and innovative tool for enhancing young children's Balinese language speaking abilities in ECE settings.
