Abstract

Background : Anemia is a condition in which there is a reduced number of red blood cells or a lower concentration of hemoglobin within them. Injectable contraception is the most widely utilized hormonal option. Research clearly indicates that heavy or prolonged menstruation serves as a major trigger for iron deficiency anemia in women of childbearing age. The 1-month and 3-month injectable contraceptives contain hormones that notably affect menstrual patterns. This study aims to analyze the differences in the incidence of anemia between users of the 1-month and 3-month injectable contraceptives. Method : This research method is observational analytic design with a comparative approach. The number of sample is 62 injectable contraceptive users, selected through consecutive sampling techniques. Hemoglobin levels were carefully examined as the measurement instrument. Data analysis was conducted using the Independent sample t-test and Chi-Square. Results : The results clearly demonstrate that among users of the 1-month injectable contraceptive, the majority exhibited regular menstrual patterns (40.3%). In contrast, most users of the 3-month injectable method experienced secondary amenorrhea (43.5%). Additionally, a significant proportion of respondents were found to be non-anemic (64.5%). The Independent sample t-test revealed a p-value of 0.025 (p < 0.05). The chi-square test presented a p-value of 0.598 (>0.05). Conclusion : There is a difference in hemoglobin levels in acceptors of 1-month and 3-month injectable contraceptives. There is no difference in the incidence of anemia in acceptors of 1-month and 3-month injectable contraceptives.

Abstract

Introduction: Gingiva is a mucous membrane that is closely attached to the periosteum of the jaw. The color of the gingiva varies, it ranges from pink to dark brown. Melanin is the most common natural pigment that contributes to endogenous gingival pigmentation. The degree of pigmentation depends on a few factors. This gingival hyperpigmentation is considered a normal variation, but the discoloration is aesthetically displeasing to some patients. Thus, surgical intervention may be necessary. Purpose: Report the procedure of gingival depigmentation using a scalpel in a 39-year-old woman with gingival hyperpigmentation.. Case presentation: A 39-year-old female visited the Hospital complaining that her upper front gums were dark brown since 1 year ago. Clinical examination showed brown discoloration of the anterior attached gingiva of the upper and lower jaws. Based on clinical and radiographic examinations, the patient was diagnosed with generalized chronic periodontitis accompanied by gingival hyperpigmentation in the anterior maxilla and mandible. In the nonsurgical phase, scaling was carried out, oral hygiene education was performed. After that, gingival depigmentation surgery was performed using the scrapping technique. Follow-up was carried out after surgery. Satisfactory results were obtained, marked by the clinical appearance, rapid healing and the patient felt comfortable with minimal pain during the healing process. Conclusion: Scalpel technique is one of the procedures performed in cases of gingival hyperpigmentation. This technique can restore the aesthetics of the patient's gingiva in a simple, safe and non-invasive way and shows satisfactory results and has a fast wound healing time. Abstract

Introduction: Periodontitis is a risk factor that contributes to impaired masticatory function and tooth loss. Periodontal disease is caused by bacteria contained in plaque on the surface of the teeth. Plaque is a thin layer of biofilm containing a collection of pathogenic microorganisms. The porous surface due to the presence of calculus allows accumulating plaque. The formation of plaque or biofilm can be prevented mechanically by brushing the teeth and cleaning the interdental teeth using dental floss. Case report: A 50 year old male came to  the Rumah Sakit Khusus Gigi dan Mulut Prov. Sumatera Selatan complained that his teeth feel rough and dirty, especially on his lower front teeth. This complaint has been felt for approximately 2 years. Intraoral examination showed reddish gingiva, rounded interdental papillae, unstippling texture, soft consistency on the sextant e of the anterior mandible. bleeding on probing was positive in all regions, probing depth of tooth 31 was 5 mm.Conclusion:  During evaluation 1 week and 1 month after curettage the patient had no complaints and there were good gingival changes.

Abstract

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a psychological condition that can negatively impact an individual’s quality of life. Non-pharmacological interventions such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Five-Finger Hypnosis are increasingly used to help patients manage PTSD symptoms. This study aims to evaluate and compare the effectiveness of DBT and Five-Finger Hypnosis in improving the quality of life of PTSD patients. The study employed a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test approach in two intervention groups, each consisting of 30 respondents selected through purposive sampling. The instrument used for assessment is WHOQOL-BREF, and data analysis was conducted using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and Mann-Whitney U Test. The results indicated that both interventions significantly improved the quality of life of PTSD patients (p < 0.05). However, Five-Finger Hypnosis demonstrated greater effectiveness compared to DBT, with a significance value of p = 0.000. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that Five-Finger Hypnosis is more effective in enhancing the quality of life for PTSD patients due to its deep relaxation technique, which significantly reduces anxiety and stress levels. Therefore, Five-Finger Hypnosis should be considered as an effective non-pharmacological alternative therapy for PTSD treatment.

Abstract

The development of digital technology brings new challenges to the practice of the legal profession, particularly for advocates. Professional ethics, previously established within the context of conventional practice, are now faced with new issues, such as the use of social media for self-promotion and the risk of client personal data leaks. This paper discusses violations of the advocate code of ethics in the digital context and the importance of protecting personal data as part of the principle of legal professional confidentiality. Using normative methods and a literature review, this article analyzes the legal provisions governing the advocate code of ethics, including legal foundations such as Law No. 18/2003 concerning Advocates, the Indonesian Financial and Investment Commission (KEAAI), and Law No. 27/2022 concerning data privacy and security. This study highlights the importance of strengthening the oversight system for professional ethics, encouraging increased digital literacy capacity among advocates, and urging the establishment of a responsive and effective oversight mechanism to address the dynamics of professional ethics in the digital era. Efforts to maintain the integrity of the legal profession and build public trust are inseparable from a commitment to protecting personal data and enforcing ethical norms.

Abstract

This research aims to identify and analyze signs and symbols in William Wordsworth’s poem I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud. This study employs a descriptive qualitative research design through a semiotic approach to investigate the function of signs and symbols in poetic discourse. The data in this research was collected from Wordsworth’s. I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud as the primary data source, while the secondary data sources are books, articles, and other online sources that support the primary data. The obtained data were analyzed using Charles Sanders Peirce’s semiotic model, which consists of an icon, index, and symbol. The data analysis was conducted in three stages: classification, display, and verification. The result of this research shows that the poem employs various phrases, which can be categorized as icons, indexes, and symbols. The signs function to surpass linguistic barriers and convey significant insights about the human spirit and its connection to the natural world. These can also serve as a reminder that even the most basic words, when skillfully composed and infused with symbolic significance, can have a lasting effect on readers, encouraging them to delve into their feelings and establish a stronger bond with the world.
