Abstract

The hegemonic attempts made by the British and European Jews triggered resistance from the Palestinian people. The resistance is manifested in physical and non-physical struggles, including literary works. This research aims to reveal the construction of resistance in Ibrahim Touqan's Mawtini by using the theory of New Historicism by Stephen Greenblatt. Literary readings are juxtaposed with non-literary texts in order to find the historical background of colonialism in Palestine in the British Mandate era and the diaspora of Jews from Europe. This research is a descriptive qualitative type. The data of this research is in the form of mawtini song lyrics which are then read together with two non-literary books to understand the historical substance behind the song lyrics. Based on the results of the research, it was found that the construction of resistance in this song is structured through the perspective of the people seeing their homeland, the hope for a resolution to the conflict, the importance of the role of youth to fight, the purpose of the resistance and the methods taken in resistance to hegemony efforts over the land of Palestine. Abstrak Upaya hegemoni yang dilakukan oleh Inggris dan Yahudi Eropa memicu perlawanan dari rakyat Palestina. Perlawanan tersebut diwujudkan dalam perjuangan fisik dan non-fisik, termasuk di dalamnya adalah karya sastra. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkapkan konstruksi perlawanan di dalam lirk lagu Mawtini karya Ibrahim Touqan dengan menggunakan teori New Historicism oleh Stephen Greenblatt. Pembacaan sastra disandingkan dengan teks non sastra agar menemukan latar belakang sejarah kolonialisme di Palestina di era Mandat Inggris serta diaspora kaum Yahudi dari Eropa. Penelitian ini berjenis kualitatif deskriptif. Data penelitian ini berupa lirik lagu mawtini yang kemudian dibaca bersamaan dengan dua buku non-sastra untuk memahami substansi sejarah di balik lirik lagu tersebut. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan teknik baca-catat. Sedangkan teknik analis data melalui tahap reduksi data, penyajian, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, ditemukan konstruksi perlawanan di dalam lagu ini disusun melalui perspektif rakyat melihat tanah airnya, harapan adanya resolusi atas konflik, pentingnya peran pemuda untuk melakukan perlawan, tujuan dari perlawanan tersebut serta cara-cara yang ditempuh dalam melakukan perlawanan terhadap upaya hegemoni di atas negeri Palestina.

Abstract

The distance learning policy poses several challenges for Arabic teachers, students, and parents and causes a decrease in humanistic authority among teachers. Online learning tends to weaken their role in this aspect. This study identifies activities teachers can no longer do during online Arabic learning. In addition, this study also explores the factors that cause the erosion of this humanistic role. Using a qualitative descriptive method through interviews and focus group discussions (FGDs) with several teachers, this study found seven challenging activities for teachers, such as providing individual guidance to students face-to-face. Technology that acts as a communication medium between teachers and students causes limitations in understanding each student's character in depth. It is recommended that educators adopt a more adaptive approach, which can view students as active subjects in the learning process.

Abstract

The capitalist system implemented in an area will inevitably give rise to conflict and social alienation as well as bad influences that can be felt by society. The study of Marxism was born as a form of criticism of the capitalist system and a solution to the problems caused by capitalism, namely social conflict and alienation. The aims of this research is to reveal the impact of conflict and proletariat alienation on Sudanese society. This research uses qualitative research methods, with a Marxist literary sociology approach. There are two data sources, namely primary data sources and secondary data sources. Data collection was carried out through reading techniques and note-taking techniques. In analyzing the data, researchers used the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana analysis model in which there are three stages, namely data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of this research is the effects arising from the conflict and alienation experienced by proletariat towards Sudanese society in the novel "Al-Junqu Masamirul Ardh" are very bad, including hoping for the bourgeoisie, enduring suffering, carrying out resistance or revolution, and being trapped in hopeless despair. where the bourgeoisie greatly benefits, while the proletariat (workers) suffers greatly. Abstrak  Sistem kapitalisme yang diterapkan di suatu wilayah pasti melahirkan konflik dan alienasi sosial serta pengaruh buruk yang dapat dirasakan oleh masyarakat. Kajian Marxisme lahir sebagai bentuk kritikan terhadap sistem kapitalisme serta solusi dari masalah-masalah yang disebabkan oleh kapitalisme, yaitu konflik dan alienasi sosial. Tujuan dari penelitian ini ialah untuk menyingkap pengaruh konflik dan alienasi para pekerja terhadap masyarakat Sudan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif, dengan pendekatan sosiologi sastra Marxisme. Terdapat dua sumber data, yaitu sumber data primer dan sumber data sekunder. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui teknik baca dan teknik catat. Dalam menganalisis data, peneliti menggunakan model analisis Miles, Huberman, dan Saldana yang terdiri dari tiga tahap, yaitu kondensasi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil dari penelitian ini ialah pengaruh yang timbul dari konflik dan alienasi yang dialami oleh para pekerja terhadap masyarakat Sudan dalam novel “Al-Junqu Masamirul Ardh” sangatlah buruk antara lain berharap pada kaum borjuis, menanggung penderitaan, melakukan perlawanan atau revolusi, dan terjebak dalam keputusasaan yang mana kaum borjuis sangat diuntungkan, sedangkan kaum proletar (para pekerja) sangat dirugikan.

Abstract

The film “Wadjda” is a distinctive work that provides insight into the lives of Saudi Arabian women, particularly within the context of a society deeply entrenched in patriarchal norms. The character of Wadjda symbolizes women's empowerment and embodies the ongoing struggle against inequality, highlighting the daily challenges women face in confronting gender discrimination. This study aims to analyze the representation of culture and women's issues, with a particular emphasis on the theme of gender equality as presented in “Wadjda”. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, this research primarily focuses on the film “Wadjda”, directed by Haifaa Al-Mansour in 2012, and is analyzed through the lens of liberal feminist theory. Data collection utilizes the listen-read-record technique for the research object, while data analysis incorporates data reduction, data presentation, and verification methods. The findings reveal seven key issues related to gender inequality: the accessibility of freedom primarily for men, limited access for women due to unjust social norms, public harassment of women, women's aspirations for freedom and equality, the imbalance of power affecting the treatment of women, patriarchal traditions that restrict women's autonomy, and inequalities in marriage. This research is anticipated to contribute to the discourse on social change towards gender equality, as well as provide a deeper understanding of feminism through media representations, particularly in illustrating women's struggles within a culture that constrains them. Abstrak Film Wadjda merupakan karya yang unik menawarkan perspektif tentang kehidupan perempuan Arab Saudi, terutama dalam konteks masyarakat yang kental dengan norma patriarkal. Karakter Wadjda menjadi simbol pemberdayaan perempuan yang berjuang untuk melawan ketidaksetaraan, serta menggambarkan perjuangan sehari-hari perempuan dalam menghadapi diskriminasi gender. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis representasi budaya dan isu perempuan dengan fokus pada kesetaraan gender yang diangkat dalam film Wadjda. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif, dengan sumber utama penelitian adalah film Wadjda yang disutradai oleh Haifaa Al-Mansour pada tahun 2012 dan dianalisis dengan pendekatan teori feminisme liberal. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik dengar-baca-rekam terhadap objek penelitian. Sedangkan analisis data menggunakan reduksi data, penyajian data dan verifikasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ada tujuh isu utama terkait ketidaksetaraan gender: kebebasan yang lebih mudah diakses oleh laki-laki, kurangnya akses perempuan akibat aturan sosial yang tidak adil, pelecehan publik terhadap perempuan, keinginan perempuan untuk kebebaasan dan kesetaraan, ketidaksimbangan kekuasaan yang mempengaruhi perlakuan terhadap perempuan, tradisi patriarkal yang membatasi otonomi perempuan, serta ketidaksetaraan dalam pernikahan. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memeberikan kontribusi pada diskusi tentang perubahan sosial menuju kesetaraan gender, serta memberikan wawasan lebih dalam studi feminisme melalui media, khususnya dalam menggambarkan perjuangan perempuan dalam budaya yang membatasi mereka.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the poem "Hal Kunta Ta'lam" by Faruq Juwaidah through Michael Riffaterre's semiotic approach, which includes aspects of heuristic reading, hermeneutic reading, matrix, variant model, and hypogram. This type of research is descriptive qualitative with Riffaterre's semiotic theory approach. The data for this study comes from primary and secondary sources. The primary data sources in this study are stanzas, lines, and words in the poem "Hal Kunta Ta'lam" by Faruq Juwaidah. The secondary data sources in this study are books, proceedings, web articles, and several journals related to semiotics and Michael Riffaterre's poetry. The data analysis technique uses Miles and Huberman's data analysis technique, which consists of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study are: 1) Heuristic reading is divided into several groups: there are 6 fi'il madhi, 17 fi'il mudhori', 44 isim, and 29 letters. 2) Hermeneutic reading as a rereading generally describes that everything in this world is temporary, and everything will return to its owner. 3) The matrix in this poem is advice about death and reflection on the transience of life. The inner model generally describes the idea of equality in death. Its variant is the comparison between high officials and ordinary people. 4) The hypogram in this poem can be seen from the strong spirit of nationalism shown by the author. Faruq upholds the value of equality while strongly opposing selfishness and efforts to enrich oneself amidst the suffering of others. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan utuk menganalisis puisi Hal Kunta Ta'lam karya Faruq Juwaidah melalui pendekatan Semiotika Michael Riffaterre yang meliputi aspek pembacaan heuristik, pembacaan hermeneutik, matriks, model varian, dan hipogram. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan teori semiotika Riffaterre. Data penelitian ini bersumber dari data primer dan data sekunder. Sumber data primer dalam penelitian ini adalah bait, baris, dan kata dalam puisi “Hal kunta Ta’lam” karya Faruq Juwaidah. Sedangkan sumber data sekunder dalam penelitian ini adalah buku, prosiding, artikel web, dan beberapa jurnal yang berkaitan dengan semiotika dan puisi Michael Riffaterre. Teknik analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis data Milles dan Huberman yang terdiri dari reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian ini adalah 1) Pembacaan heuristik terbagi menjadi beberapa kelompok. Terdapat 6 fi’il madhi, 17 fi’il mudhori’, 44 isim, dan 29 hurf. 2) Pembacaan hermeneutik sebagai pembacaan ulang yang secara umum menggambarkan bahwa segala sesuatu di dunia ini hanya sementara, dan segala sesuatu akan kembali kepada pemiliknya. 3) Matriks dalam puisi ini merupakan nasihat tentang kematian dan refleksi tentang kefanaan hidup. Model batin secara umum menggambarkan gagasan tentang kesetaraan dalam kematian. Variannya adalah perbandingan antara pejabat tinggi dan orang biasa. 4) Hipogram dalam puisi ini dapat dilihat dari semangat nasionalisme yang kuat yang ditunjukkan oleh pengarang. Faruq menjunjung tinggi nilai kesetaraan, sekaligus menentang keras keegoisan dan upaya memperkaya diri sendiri di tengah penderitaan orang lain.

Abstract

This research focuses on Roland Barthes semiotics which aims to analyze the denotation and connotation meanings of memes in the social media account @arabmemesss on the X app. As a form of non-verbal communication, memes not only entertain but also convey cultural and social messages. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method, with data collection methods in the form of reading and recording. Data analysis was conducted using data analysis techniques from Miles and Huberman, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that each meme contains various layers of meaning, including; humor, satire, and self-reflection. The memes not only represent the expression of human emotions, but also reveal Arab culture wrapped in humor. The @arabmemesss account on the X app shows that memes reflect hidden emotions and can only be understood through in-depth analysis. In addition, the humor and satire often used in memes play an important role in conveying a deeper message. This research deepens the understanding of the application of Roland Barthes' semiotic theory in the analysis of non-verbal communication through memes.

Abstract

يهدف هذا البحث إلى تطوير مواد تعليمية النحو بمقاربة استنتاجية لترقية فهم الطلاب ومهاراتهم في فهم القواعد النحوية. يتم تطبيق الطريقة الاستنتاجية من خلال تقديم قواعد النحو بشكل منهجي، بدءا من المفاهيم العامة إلى الأمثلة المحددة، بحيث يسهل على الطلاب تطبيق القواعد التي يتعلمونها. يستخدم هذا البحث أساليب البحث والتطوير (R&D) مع نموذج تطوير ADDIE الذي يتضمن مراحل التحليل والتصميم والتطوير والتنفيذ والتقييم. موضوع البحث هو طلاب المدرسة الثانوية النموذجية زين الحسن قنقون الذين يدرسون النحو. تم جمع البيانات من خلال التوثيق والملاحظة والاستبانة والمقابلة واختبارات التقييم لقياس فعالية المواد التعليمية المطورة. تظهر نتائج الدراسة أن المنهج الاستنتاجي في تعلم النحو قادر على تحسين فهم الطلاب بشكل كبير مقارنة بالطرق التقليدية. يتقن الطلاب المفاهيم النحوية بشكل أسرع ويكونون قادرين على تطبيقها في سياقات لغوية مختلفة. تعتبر المواد التعليمية التي تم تطويرها أكثر منهجية وسهولة في الفهم وفعالية في تحسين فهم القواعد النحوية.

Abstract

In this digital era, the integration of technology in learning is very important. However, Al-Hikam Middle School in Jombang still do not maximize the use of technology in learning Arabic. The impact is that students are not able to achieve the learning targets that must be achieved because they often feel bored while learning. This research aims to explore the needs of teachers and students at Al-Hikam Middle School in Jombang to develop Arabic learning content based on Google Sites.  This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through interviews, observations and documentation. Triangulation is carried out to maintain the validity of the data. The results of this study show that teachers and students at Al-Hikam Middle School in Jombang need more interesting and interactive teaching materials because they still use printed modules. Based on the results of the needs analysis, a prototype of Arabic language learning content based on Google Sites was produced consisting of several types, including; vocabulary content, grammar, and four language skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing) which are presented in the form of text, animated images, audio, video and also equipped with interactive quizzes.' From this study, it is hoped that there will be further research to test its feasibility and effectiveness.

Abstract

Literature is a form of culture in a particular region that is certainly different in every other region. In its spread, Arab literature cannot be separated from various aspects of each figure who spreads it. The influence and development of Arab literature itself are diverse. The purpose of this research is to understand the form of Arab literature development and its influence, especially in the Sudanese region. This study uses a qualitative approach that uses library research type. Data sources include articles, books, and literary studies in the Sudanese region. Data collection techniques in the existing text adhere to documentation analysis data with Miles and Huberman's model method through three stages: data reduction, data presentation and verification. The findings of this research show that the existence of Arabic literature in Sudan is not only geographically widespread in regions, but also developed through the contributions of writers whose works were deeply influenced by the country’s political and social dynamics. Figures such as Abdul Rahman al-Mahdi and Sayyid Ali Mirghani played significant roles in shaping the narrative of Arabic literature in Sudan. Abdul Rahman al-Mahdi was known as a revolutionary poet who raised themes of African identity, colonialism, and human struggle, while Sayyid Ali Mirghani depicted the social and cultural realities of local communities, especially through the use of dialect and rural Sudanese settings in his writings. Arabic literature in Sudan does not stand in isolation; rather, it evolved as a response to the country’s complex socio-political and religious conditions

Abstract

The implementation of the Blooket game Fishing Frenzy mode has been proven effective in Arabic vocabulary learning at the elementary level. The use of Blooket in learning creates an enjoyable atmosphere, making students actively engaged and preventing boredom. This study aims to analyze the application of Blooket in Arabic vocabulary learning at MIN 1 Kota Malang.The research method used is a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group design. The study sample consists of 56 students divided into an experimental group using Blooket and a control group using conventional methods. The research instrument includes an Arabic vocabulary test, and the collected data was analyzed using SPSS 20. The results show a significant improvement in students' learning outcomes after implementing the Blooket game, as reflected in the comparison between pre-test and post-test scores, with an average N-Gain of 77.8. Additionally, hypothesis testing results indicate a significance value of 0.006, which is lower than 0.05, leading to the rejection of Ho and acceptance of Ha. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Blooket game effectively enhances students' interest and learning outcomes in Arabic vocabulary.
