Abstract

The community service was conducted at the Putri Aisyiyah Orphanage in Bekonang, Sukoharjo, Central Java. This orphanage has yard space that has not been utilized for Family Medicinal Plants (TOGA) and is not yet familiar with the concept of an eco orphanage. The main objective of this service is to provide education about TOGA to the children at the Putri Aisyiyah Bekonang Orphanage. The service activities comprise six phases: pre-test, socialization, TOGA planting, practices in processing traditional medicinal products, post-test, and maintenance and supervision. The outcomes of the service activities include the planting of twenty types of medicinal plants in the orphanage's yard. Participants' knowledge increased after receiving education about TOGA, encompassing basic knowledge of TOGA (12.4%), types of TOGA and their characteristics (38%), and the health benefits of TOGA (33%). There was an enhancement in participants' knowledge regarding the types and benefits of TOGA, with an average total increase of 27.7%. Thus, this service has succeeded in providing education about TOGA to the children at the Putri Aisyiyah Bekonang Orphanage and enhancing their understanding of the types of TOGA and their health benefits.

Abstract

Stake plants, commonly known as saplings, are needed  to enhance soil structure, mitigate erosion, and bolster ecological stability. This research is essential as it provides a reference for knowledge pertinent to connected issues, which can be utilized to formulate policies that promote sustainability in natural forest ecosystems. This study seeks to ascertain the composition and structure of seedling vegetation in the Girimanik Natural Forest Area, Wonogiri. This research has not been conducted previously. The research methodology employs a quadratic sampling technique. Twenty-five plots, each measuring 5x5 m², were utilized by purposive sampling. This research identified 296 varieties of seedling plants across 30 species and 22 family. The sapling vegetation community in this region is predominantly composed of Pygeum parviflorum (nyampuh; English: Prunus), exhibiting an INP score of 59.24. The computed Shannon-Wiener diversity index in this study was 2.74, indicating a moderate amount of diversity, characterized by a balanced distribution of individual numbers without extreme diversity index values in the Girimanik forest area

Abstract

Abstrak: Perkembangan teknologi menambah warna kompleksitas pendidikan generasi Z. Setahun belakangan kompleksitas ini ditambah dengan fenomena global pandemi corona virus. Siswa dan guru di sekolah khususnya untuk mata pelajaran IPA dan Biologi telah terpengaruh secara signifikan karena kegiatan praktikum tidak bisa dilaksanakan secara langsung di laboratorium atau di lapangan. Permasalahan yang sama juga dirasakan khususnya di wilayah Jawa Tengah dikarenakan sampai saat ini masih memberlakukan pembatasan kegiatan. Padahal materi pada mata pelajaran IPA dan Biologi di sekolah membutuhkan kegiatan praktikum. Salah satu solusi untuk permasalahan ini adalah laboratorium virtual yang memungkinkan siswa melakukan eksperimen secara mandiri. Dengan melihat permasalahan ini, maka kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mengenalkan metode praktikum virtual dengan sasaran guru SD dan SMP pengampu mata pelajaran IPA dan Biologi se Jawa Tengah dengan tema Ekologi Populasi Serangga Metode Capture Recapture. Kegiatan berbasis daring menggunakan dua platform yaitu Zoom dan Schoology. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini memberikan pengalaman baru bagi guru pendamping mata pelajaran IPA dan Biologi terutama yang mengajar tema ekologi untuk mengembangkan metode praktikum estimasi populasi hewan motil secara simulasi dan dapat dilakukan oleh siswa secara mandiri. Sebanyak 40% dari peserta melakukan simulasi mandiri dan mengumpulkan Lembar Kerja Peserta (LKP). Virtual Laboratory Practicum Workshop for Science and Biology Teachers in Central Java: Insect Population Ecology Capture-Recapture Method Abstract: Technological developments add color to the complexity of generation Z education. In the past year, this complexity has been added to the global phenomenon of the coronavirus pandemic. Students and teachers in schools, especially for science and biology subjects, have been significantly affected because practicum activities cannot be carried out directly in the laboratory or in the field. The same problem is also felt, especially in the Central Java region because until now there are still restrictions on activities. Even though the material in science and biology subjects at school requires practical activities. One solution to this problem is a virtual laboratory that allows students to conduct experiments independently. By looking at this problem, this community service activity aims to introduce a virtual practicum method targeting elementary and junior high school teachers who are teaching science and biology subjects throughout Central Java with the theme of Insect Population Ecology Capture-Recapture Method. Online-based activities use two platforms, namely Zoom and Schoology. This community service activity provides a new experience for teachers of science and biology subjects, especially those who teach the theme of ecology to develop a practical method of estimating the population of motile animals in a simulation and can be done by students independently. As many as 40% of the participants carried out independent simulations and collected Participant Worksheets (LKP).

Abstract

Masalah lingkungan merupakan masalah kritis bersama yang dihadapi dunia saat ini. Melalui pendidikan lingkungan dalam mata pelajaran IPA dan Biologi, siswa diberikan pemahaman terhadap masalah-masalah lingkungan yang merupakan bagian dari proses pembelajaran mereka. Salah satu permasalahan lingkungan yang paling mengancam kelangsungan stabilitas biosfer adalah perubahan iklim. Salah satu bentuk pengamatan langsung di alam untuk mengintegrasikan pengetahuan lingkungan sebagai upaya pelestarian alam adalah pengenalan konsep stok karbon pohon. Salah satu metoda pendugaan stok karbon pohon sederhana yang bisa diaplikasikan pengukurannya di alam oleh siswa adalah metode secara tidak langsung dengan pendekatan ekuasi allometri. Tujuan: Tujuan pengabdian ini adalah untuk mengenalkan konsep stok karbon pohon dengan sasaran guru IPA dan Biologi tingkat SD dan SMP se Jawa Tengah. Metode dan Langkah Kerja: metode pengabdian dilakukan dengan metode daring menggunakan aplikasi zoom untuk kegiatan sinkron dan metode diskusi secara asinkron dengan menggunakan aplikasi schoology. Metode pengumpulan Lembar Kerja Peserta (LKP) juga dilakukan dengan aplikasi schoology. Guru diberikan pengenalan-pengenalan mengenai konsep dasar stok karbon, metode pengukuran diameter pohon setinggi dada (dbh), konsep allometri dan praktek pengukuran dbh pohon langsung di lapangan seperti pekarangan sekolah, pekarangan rumah, kebun dan lahan lainnya yang ditumbuhi pohon. Pengabdian ini dihadiri oleh 47 peserta Hasil: Dari hasil evaluasi tugas LKP, sebanyak  95% guru sudah memahami konsep stok karbon namun baru 77% guru yang menguasai teknis estimasi stok karbon pohon sederhana. Rekomendasi: Diharapkan melalui kegiatan ini, guru dapat mengaplikasikan praktikum estimasi stok karbon pohon di sekolah sebagai bentuk kegiatan pengayaan yang bersifat kontekstual. Introducing the Concept of Tree Carbon Stock as a Climate Change Mitigation Effort to Science and Biology Teachers in Central Java  Environmental problems are a common critical problem facing the world today. Through environmental education in science and biology subjects, students are given an understanding of environmental issues that are part of their learning process. One of the environmental problems that most threaten the stability of the biosphere is climate change. One form of direct observation in nature to integrate environmental knowledge as an effort to conserve nature is the introduction of the concept of tree carbon stocks. One method of estimating simple tree carbon stocks that can be applied for measurement in nature by students is the indirect method with an allometric equation approach. Objective: The purpose of this service is to introduce the concept of tree carbon stock with the target of science and biology teachers at the elementary and junior high school levels throughout Central Java. Working Methods and Steps: the service method is carried out using an online method using the zoom application for synchronous activities and asynchronous discussion methods using the Schoology application. The method of collecting Participant Worksheets (LKP) is also carried out using the Schoology application. Teachers are given introductions to the basic concepts of carbon stock, methods of measuring tree diameter at chest height (dbh), allometry concepts and the practice of measuring tree dbh directly in the field such as schoolyards, house yards, gardens, and other land overgrown with trees. This service was attended by 47 participants. Results: From the evaluation results of LKP assignments, 95% of teachers have understood the concept of carbon stock, but only 77% of teachers have mastered the technique of simple tree carbon stock estimation. Recommendation: It is hoped that through this activity, teachers can apply the practice of estimating tree carbon stocks in schools as a form of contextual enrichment activities

Abstract

SMP Muhammadiyah 7 (Mutu) Program Unggulan Colomadu, Karanganyar, Jawa Tengah berorientasi pada lingkungan dengan adanya program Jumat Bersih dan partisipasi pada kegiatan Bank Sampah. Walaupun sudah ada program berbasis lingkungan, kesadaran siswa terhadap isu lingkungan belum maksimal. Adanya usaha dari pihak sekolah untuk berpartisipasi dalam program Bank Sampah kelurahan belum memiliki rencana pengelolaan maksimal karena belum adanya usaha untuk memanfaatkan potensi sampah menjadi  barang yang memiliki manfaat lebih. Solusi yang ditawarkan: Dibutuhkan mekanisme pengelolaan sampah berbasis komunitas siswa peduli lingkungan. Pada kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini, program pemulihan sampah difokuskan pada pemanfaatan sampah kering anorganik. Program yang ditawarkan adalah pembuatan dan pemanfaatan bata ramah lingkungan (eco brick). Nilai manfaat: Tambahan wawasan mengenai pengelolaan sampah sederhana bagi guru dan siswa yang menunjang materi kurikulum di sekolah khususnya Kelas VII Kompetensi Dasar 3.7. Interaksi antara Mahluk Hidup dan Lingkungannya. Metode Pelaksanaan dnegan transfer of knowledge and technology dengan tahapan. Pengabdian dilaksanakan sebanyak 13 kali pertemuan, dilaksanakan setiap akhir pekan dengan metode sosialisasi (kegiatan hibrid daring dan luring), pelatihan pembuatan eco brick dan pelatihan pembuatan berbagai produk dari ecobrick. Hasil kegiatan: Siswa menyetorkan sampah plastik ke sekolah. Setelah disetor, setiap hari Sabtu, siswa bersama tim membuat ecobrick dan menimbang untuk kontrol kualitas. Dari 4 minggu penyetoran, didapat total 123 buah ecobrick dengan total berat 28,7 kg. Pada akhir fase kegiatan, siswa membuat 5 buah produk terdiri dari 3 rak buku dan 2 kursi. Kegiatan ini mampu menginisiasi siswa SMP Mutu Colomadu untuk menghasilkan produk dari sampah kering sebagai usaha untuk pilih pilah dan pulih sampah. Student Empowerment of SMP Muhammadiyah 7 Colomadu Karanganyar on Waste Recycling Program  SMP Muhammadiyah 7 (Quality) Colomadu Excellence Program, Karanganyar, Central Java is environmentally oriented with the Clean Friday program and participation in Waste Bank activities. Although there are already environmental-based programs, students' awareness of environmental issues has not been maximized. The existence of an effort from the school to participate in the village Garbage Bank program does not yet have a maximum management plan because there has been no attempt to utilize the potential of waste into goods that have more benefits. The solution offered: It takes a community-based waste management mechanism for students who care about the environment. In this community service activity, the waste recovery program is focused on the utilization of inorganic dry waste. The program offered is the manufacture and use of environmentally friendly bricks (eco-bricks). Value of benefits: Additional insight on simple waste management for teachers and students who support curriculum materials in schools, especially Class VII Basic Competence 3.7. Interaction between Living Things and Their Environment. Implementation method with the transfer of knowledge and technology with stages. The service was held for 13 meetings, held every weekend with socialization methods (online and offline hybrid activities), training on making eco-bricks, and training on making various products from eco-bricks. Result of activity: Students deposit plastic waste at school. After being deposited, every Saturday, students and their team make eco-bricks and weigh them for quality control. From 4 weeks of deposit, a total of 123 eco-bricks were obtained with a total weight of 28.7 kg. At the end of the activity phase, students make 5 products consisting of 3 bookshelves and 2 chairs. This activity was able to initiate Colomadu Quality Middle School students to produce products from dry waste in an effort to sort and recover waste

Abstract

Mitra kegiatan pengabdian adalah SD Muhammadiyah Tonggalan, Klaten, Jawa Tengah.SD Tonggolan yang memiliki pekarangan yang luas yang belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal sehingga berpotensi dijadikan sasaran mitra untuk menambah jenis kegiatan berbasis pembelajaran berbasis lingkungan seperti pengenalan dan penanaman TOGA (Tanaman Obat Keluarga) sebagai sarana edukasi. Oleh karena itu tujuan dari pengabdian ini adalah melaksanakan Edukasi Tokuni (Tanaman Obat Keluarga Usia Dini) di SD Muhammadiyah Tonggalan, Klaten, Jawa Tengah. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan oleh mahasiswa dari Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan (FKIP) Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta -. Kegiatan pengabdian dilakukan dalam tiga fase yaitu sosialisasi terkait TOGA, penanaman TOGA, serta pembinaan dan pengawasan. Peningkatan pengetahuan siswa terkait toga dilakukan dengan memberikan pre test dan post test. Kegiatan dilakukan selama 2 hari yaitu pada tanggal 15-16 Februari 2023. Kegiatan diikuti oleh 23 siswa kelas IV. Terdapat 9 jenis tanaman obat yang ditanam yaitu jahe, lengkuas, kunyit, lidah buaya, kencur, seledri, bawang merah, kumis kucing, dan serai. Siswa menanam tanaman TOGA pada wadah bekas yang dimanfaatkan dan dihias untuk memunculkan kreatifitas dan minat siswa. Kegiatan ini meningkatkan pengetahuan siswa terkait jenis-jenis tanaman obat sebesar rata-rata 30.32% dan manfaat tanaman obat sebesar rata-rata 15%. Dengan demikian, maka pengabdian masyarakat dapat memberikan wawasan baru kepada siswa untuk dapat mengenal tanaman obat bermanfaat dan memunculkan inisiatif untuk memanfaatkan bahan anorganik bekas sehingga yang memiliki nilai manfaat lebih.  ‘Tokuni’ (Early Age Family Medicinal Plants) Education at SD Muhammadiyah Tonggalan, Klaten, Central Java SD Muhammadiyah Tonggalan, located in Klaten, Central Java, is the community service's partner. SD Tonggolan has an extensive lawn that has not been utilized optimally, so it has the potential to become a target for partners to add environment-based learning activities, such as the introduction and cultivation of TOGA (Family Medicinal Plants) as a means of education. Consequently, the purpose of this service is to implement Tokuni Education (Early Age Family Medicinal Plants) at SD Muhammadiyah Tonggalan, Klaten, Central Java. The aforementioned activity was conducted by students hailing from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. The service activities consist of three phases: TOGA-related socialization, TOGA planting, and mentoring and supervision. The event lasted two days, on February 15 and 16, 2023. Twenty-three students in fourth grade attended the event. Plantings include ginger, galangal, turmeric, aloe vera, kencur, celery, scallions, cat's whiskers, and lemongrass. Students plant TOGA plants in repurposed and decorated containers to foster their creativity and interest. This practice has been observed to enhance students' understanding of various types of medical plants by an average of 30.32%, as well as their comprehension of the advantages associated with medicinal plants by an average of 15%. Hence, this community service can provide students with new perspectives on identifying useful medicinal plants and inspire initiatives to make better use of discarded inorganic materials.

Abstract

Sampah merupakan permasalahan yang sangat meresahkan bagi masyarakat mulai zaman dahulu hingga kini. Penggolongan sampah meliputi organik dan non organik. Non organik khususnya plastik sangat sulit terdaur ulang. Oleh karenanya keberadaan sampah plastik di tengah-tengah masyarakat yang semakin banyak menjadikan perhatian untuk menemukan bagaimana cara pengolahannya yang tepat dan tidak menyebabkan kerugian bagi lingkungan. Tujuan pengabdian adalah membuat pemberdayaan masyarakat terkait pengolahan sampah plastik di era digital dan memberikan edukasi kepada masyarakat Banjarejo, Kota Madiun terkait dengan pengolahan sampah plastik pada 25 anggota bank sampah. Metode yang dipakai dalam pengabdian adalah melakukan survei lokasi dan masyarakat anggota bank sampah, pelaksanaan sosialisasi, pengumpulan sampah plastik dan pelatihan, pembuatan dan pengenalan digital market. Hasilnya adalah 25 anggota Bank Sampah Sedoro Asri Banjarejo sebagai mitra sangat antusias dalam mengikuti pengabdian. Rekomendasi yang diberikan adalah meningkatkan kerja sama dengan pemerintah setempat dengan konsep PENTAHELIX, atau multi pihak, unsur pemerintah, akademisi, badan dan atau pelaku usaha, masyarakat atau komunitas, dan media massa berkolaborasi serta berkomitmen untuk mencapai tujuan yang sama. Recycle Plastic Waste in the Digital Era to Maintain Environmental Aesthetics in Madiun City  Garbage is a very troubling problem for people from ancient times until now. The classification of waste includes organic and non-organic. Non-organic, especially plastic, is very difficult to recycle. Therefore, the existence of plastic waste in the midst of society is increasingly making attention to find out how to process it properly and not cause harm to the environment. The purpose of the service is to empower the community regarding the processing of plastic waste in the digital era and provide education to the people of Banjarejo, Madiun City regarding the processing of plastic waste for 25 members of the waste bank. The method used in the community service is to survey the location and community members of the waste bank, carry out outreach, collect plastic waste and train, create and introduce digital markets. The result is that 25 members of the Sedoro Asri Banjarejo Garbage Bank as partners are very enthusiastic in participating in the service. The recommendation given is to increase cooperation with the local government with the PENTAHELIX concept, or multi-stakeholders, elements of government, academia, agencies and or business actors, communities or communities, and the mass media collaborate and are committed to achieving the same goals.

Abstract

Pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan Tanaman Obat Keluarga (TOGA) di Panti Asuhan Putri Aisyiyah Bekonang Sukoharjo, memberikan keterampilan hidup yang bermanfaat bagi anak-anak panti, sekaligus mendukung upaya pelestarian lingkungan. Komunitas sasaran dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah anak-anak Panti Asuhan Putri Aisyiyah Bekonang yang berjumlah 27 orang yang terdiri dari dua latar belakang pendidikan yaitu siswa SMP dan SMA. Metode pengabdian adalah pendekatan edukatif yang dilakukan melalui berbagai aktivitas, seperti sosialisasi mengenai Tanaman Obat Keluarga (TOGA), praktik langsung penanaman TOGA, pembuatan produk berbasis TOGA dan sosialisasi dan praktik pengemasan produk. Indikator keberhasilan diukur dengan pre dan post-test yang mengukur pengetahuan anak panti terkait TOGA, cara penanaman, pengolahan dan pengemasan produk.  Kegiatan   pemberdayaan anak panti melalui TOGA terlaksana dengan baik. Dari kegiatan ini, peserta sudah mampu menciptakan empat produk hasil TOGA yaitu minuman herba (kunyit asem dan wedang jahe), teh kelor, dan rempeyek herbal yang dikemas dalam bentuk kemasan siap jual. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan terjadi peningkatan rata-rata peserta terkait TOGA sebesar 12.47 %. Peningkatan ini berdampak pada minat anak panti untuk melanjutkan kegiatan inovasi TOGA ini sampai pemasaran. Empowerment Innovation at the Aisyiyah Bekonang Orphanage: Fostering Autonomy Through TOGA Cultivation and Processing  This community service aims to develop Family Medicinal Plants (TOGA) at the Women Orphanage of Aisyiyah, Bekonang Sukoharjo, providing useful life skills for orphanage children, as well as supporting environmental conservation efforts. The target community in this service activity is the 27 children of the Putri Aisyiyah Bekonang Orphanage, consisting of two educational backgrounds, namely middle school and high school students. The service method is an educational approach carried out through various activities, such as socialization about Family Medicinal Plants (TOGA), direct practice of planting TOGA, making TOGA-based products and socialization and product packaging practices. Success indicators are assessed using pre- and post-tests that evaluate orphanage children's understanding of TOGA, as well as their skills in planting, processing, and packaging products. Empowerment activities for orphanage children through TOGA were carried out well. From this activity, participants were able to create four TOGA products, namely herbal drinks (turmeric tamarind and ginger tea), moringa tea, and herbal peanut brittle packaged in ready-to-sell packaging. The evaluation results showed that there was an increase in the average knowledge of participants related to TOGA of 12.47%. This rise affects the desire of orphaned children in continuing TOGA innovative initiatives through marketing.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The financial literacy mentorship program, which is focused on outdoor classroom activities at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Muhammadiyah Program Khusus (MIM PK) 1 Sindon Boyolali, was initiated in response to elementary school pupils' lack of understanding of financial management. Many youngsters prioritize wants above needs and fail to understand the necessity of financial management at a young age. The program aims to improve kids' financial literacy through hands-on experiences and outdoor learning, while simultaneously raising environmental consciousness. The program employs a variety of tactics, including modeling buying and selling using toy money and veggies, sowing vegetable seeds in recycled plastic bottles, and organizing a Market Day where kids sell their produce. Students are taught the fundamentals of transactions, financial planning, and simple entrepreneurship. University students enrolled in the Accounting Education and Elementary School Teacher Education programs also mentor and assess the learning process. The program's results demonstrate that students' financial literacy improved significantly, with an average rise of 1.5 points between the pre-test and the post-test. Aside from financial literacy, kids learn the value of environmental stewardship through horticultural activities. This program successfully improves students' understanding of financial literacy while establishing environmentally conscious ideals.Keywords: financial literacy, outdoor classroom, green school, muhammadiyah elementary schoolABSTRAK Program pendampingan literasi keuangan berbasis kelas alam di Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Muhammadiyah Program Khusus (MIM PK) 1 Sindon Boyolali dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya pemahaman siswa sekolah dasar mengenai pengelolaan keuangan. Banyak siswa cenderung lebih fokus pada keinginan dibandingkan kebutuhan, serta belum memahami pentingnya mengelola keuangan sejak dini. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah meningkatkan literasi keuangan siswa melalui pengalaman langsung dan pendekatan berbasis kelas alam, serta menanamkan kesadaran ramah lingkungan. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan dengan berbagai metode, seperti simulasi jual beli menggunakan uang dan sayuran mainan, penanaman bibit sayuran di galon plastik bekas, serta Market Day yang melibatkan penjualan hasil panen. Siswa diajarkan konsep dasar transaksi, perencanaan keuangan, dan kewirausahaan sederhana. Mahasiswa dari Prodi Pendidikan Akuntansi dan PGSD juga terlibat dalam pendampingan dan evaluasi proses pembelajaran. Hasil dari program ini menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan literasi keuangan siswa, dengan rata-rata peningkatan skor dari pretest sebesar 1,5 poin pada posttest. Selain peningkatan literasi keuangan, siswa juga belajar tentang pentingnya menjaga lingkungan melalui kegiatan bercocok tanam. Program ini berhasil memperkuat pemahaman siswa tentang literasi keuangan sekaligus menanamkan nilai-nilai peduli lingkungan.Kata kunci: literasi keuangan, sekolah alam, sekolah hijau, madrasah ibtidaiyah muhammadiyah

Abstract

Indonesia is renowned for its rich diversity of medicinal plants, and traditional knowledge of herbal medicine remains deeply rooted in many local communities. In Dusun Dlingo, Grobogan Regency, Central Java, residents continue to rely on medicinal plants as a form of alternative treatment. However, the rapid advancement of technology and modernization poses a significant threat to the preservation of this traditional knowledge, particularly among younger generations. This study aims to identify and document the various types of medicinal plants recognized and used by the Dlingo community. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. This research revealed 35 species used as traditional remedies from 21. These include 8 species from the Zingiberaceae family, 3 species from the Apiaceae family, 3 species from the Piperaceae family, 2 species from the Fabaceae family, and 2 species from the Malvaceae family. The highest proportion of medicinal plants is used as tonics, with 7 species identified.
