Abstract

21st century competencies are very important to develop. Developments continue to occur over time, especially in the fields of technology and economics. However, the reality on the ground shows that 90% of IT use in education is only to access information and videos shown to children. This makes communication only go in one direction and does not stimulate children's critical thinking skills. This research aims to produce a design and analyze the validity of digital maze game media to stimulate 21st century skills in children aged 5-6 years. This research is included in the type of development research using the ADDIE model. The subjects in this study were 30 children with 2 material expert validators and 2 media expert validators. The data collection technique uses a questionnaire. The data that has been collected is then analyzed using descriptive quantitative analysis. The results of the material expert validity test obtained a score of 90% (very feasible), the media expert validation test 97% (very feasible), the results of individual trials obtained a total average of 77.5% (feasible). It can be concluded that the novelty of the digital maze game media is suitable for use in learning to stimulate the 21st century skills of children aged 5-6 years. The implication of this research is that it can attract children's enthusiasm for learning. In this way, children can have collaboration skills, digital literacy, and improve critical thinking skills through problem solving to discover new vocabulary.

Abstract

The issue identified in this study is the low level of agility in children aged 5-6 years, which affects their motor skills. One way to address this issue is through games that can stimulate the agility of children. The aim of this study is to develop a foot hula hoop game that is suitable for stimulating agility in children aged 5-6 years. This research employs the Research and Development (R&D) method, adapted from the Borg and Gall model as modified by Sugiyono. The study follows nine steps: identifying potential and problems, data collection, product design, product design validation, product design revision, small group trial, revision based on small group trial results, large group trial, and final product refinement. Quantitative data were collected through questionnaires validated by early childhood game experts, content experts, and user validation (teachers) during the small and large group trials. Qualitative data were obtained from expert feedback, teacher input, initial interviews, and observational notes. The research subjects were 5-6-year-old children, with 6 children involved in the small group trial and 41 children in the large group trial. The conclusion of this study is that the foot hula hoop game is highly suitable for stimulating agility in children aged 5-6 years.

Abstract

In the digital era, children are increasingly familiar with technology, but there are still few technology-based media specifically designed for educational purposes, particularly those aimed at developing critical thinking skills. Most existing digital media are entertainment games without educational content. Although technological advancements have been rapid, research underpinning the development of educational digital media to foster critical thinking skills in early childhood remains limited. This creates a gap between field needs and the availability of effective solutions. The goal of this research is to develop an effective E-Way Game platform as a digital medium to stimulate critical thinking skills in early childhood. The research subjects consist of 2 material expert validators, 2 media expert validators, 3 users (teachers), and 20 children (aged 4–6 years). The research and development method employs the ADDIE model. Data collection techniques include observation sheets and questionnaires, with data analysis conducted using descriptive quantitative methods. The results of the media expert validation test scored 88% (very feasible), the material validation test scored 94% (very feasible), the user test scored 85% (very feasible), the small group test scored 86% (very feasible), and the large group test scored 94% (very feasible). Based on these results, it can be concluded that the E-Way Game platform is highly feasible for use in improving children's critical thinking skills. The implications of this media development serve as a reference for digital learning media aimed at stimulating critical thinking skills in children aged 4–6 years.
