Abstract

This research aims to reveal (1) the impact of implementing the student facilitating-and-explaining teaching model based on problem-solving on the improvement of students' metacognitive abilities, (2) the profile of metacognitive abilities, and (3) students' responses. This research is a quasi-experiment with a nonequivalent control group design. The sample was established using the simple random sampling technique, resulting in one control group and one experimental group. Research data were obtained from pretest and posttest scores of metacognitive abilities, the MAI self-assessment questionnaire, and students' response questionnaires. The t-test results show that the tcount is higher than ttable, indicating a significant difference between the post-test scores of the experimental and control groups. Additionally, the profile of students' metacognitive abilities before the learning process was mostly in the low and sufficient criteria, while after the implementation of the learning model, metacognitive abilities were mostly in the good criteria. The research findings were also supported by students' response questionnaire, with an 80.66% rating in the good category. In conclusion, the student facilitator and explaining model based on problem-solving have a significant impact on the improvement of students' metacognitive abilities.

Abstract

The Indonesian government mandates that science teachers must have competence in designing science experiments for learning purposes so that science content can be learned optimally by students while preparing them to have the ability to face the 21st century. This is development research that aims to develop a measurement instrument for science experiment design skills for prospective science teachers that meets good psychometric characteristics. The rubric development procedure refers to the Churches rubric development method, which consists of four stages: define, design, do, and debrief, involving 10 experts (lecturers and teachers) and 124 prospective science teachers as research participants. The results of exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis showed that the analytical rubric developed by measuring ten aspects, namely title, research objectives, relevant theories, variables, materials, equipment and instrumentation, method, an appropriate number of data, references, and systematic and technical writing was valid in content (CVI=.96), valid in construct (GFI=.94; RMSEA=.071; NFI=.99; CFI=1.00; PNFI=.91), and reliable (α=.968). The use of a standardized rubric certainly allows the assessment to provide consistent, accurate, and objective results and helps students understand what competencies they must achieve.

Abstract

Kurikulum Merdeka is a new policy in the Kemendikbud Republik Indonesia which demands a change in learning approaches that are more contextual, innovative and creative. However, the implementation of the Independent Curriculum is currently still facing various obstacles, especially related to limited facilities and infrastructure and limited teacher skills in developing and delivering learning materials. Therefore, this study aims to provide solutions to overcome these obstacles by utilizing the Canva platform as an innovative and easy-to-use learning medium. This study uses the method of developing skills (soft skills) which involves the teacher as the main user. The results of this study indicate that using the Canva platform can increase teacher creativity and ability to develop learning materials, prepare learning tools, and facilitate the process of delivering material to students so that the expected learning outcomes can be achieved and learning can be of higher quality. This program was held on 25-26 February 2023 at MTs. Muhammad Nalumsari. The results of the activity show that there is an increase in teacher skills in using Canva and in making learning designs.

Abstract

Abstract

Coastal schools are highly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, including tidal flooding, erosion, and seawater intrusion, which disrupt educational processes and compromise community resilience. Strengthening environmental literacy within the eco-school framework is therefore essential to develop adaptive knowledge, critical thinking, and sustainable behavior among students. This community service project implemented a Green Literacy Bootcamp at SMP Negeri 25 Semarang, involving 45 students identified as prospective Green Warriors. The program comprised three phases: a two-day intensive training, a three-month follow-up, and a final reflection. Activities included communication workshops, creative campaigns, eco-project simulations, and student-led projects on waste management, urban farming, and tidal flood mitigation. The program was evaluated using a pre-post environmental literacy test and structural model analysis, complemented by a satisfaction survey. Results showed a substantial improvement in environmental literacy, with the largest gains observed in environmental hope and cognitive skills. Students also reported high satisfaction with the learning experience. This study contributes to the field of environmental education by offering a validated and replicable model for strengthening multidimensional environmental literacy and supporting eco-school development in coastal communities facing climate change challenges.
