Abstract

Stunting, which is a serious public health problem, has long-term impacts on children's growth and development. Women's empowerment is identified as a strategic key in overcoming the root causes of stunting, including limited access to nutrition, education and health services. Therefore, this research aims to explore the role of women's empowerment as agents of change in efforts to reduce stunting rates in Indonesia. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. The research results confirm that women's empowerment has a crucial role in reducing stunting in Indonesia. Through education, women are empowered to provide optimal nutritional care and monitoring for children, while economic empowerment increases family access to nutritious food and reduces the risk of stunting. Empowered women also serve as agents of outreach and advocacy, raising awareness in communities and bringing about changes in societal norms and practices related to child care. Women's active participation in health and food programs, such as nutrition empowerment programs, strengthens their understanding of nutritional needs and strategies for overcoming the problem of stunting at the household level. Overall, women's empowerment not only has an impact on women themselves, but also brings positive changes to the welfare of families and society at large, supporting efforts to reduce stunting rates in Indonesia.

Abstract

Empowering local communities is an important aspect in the sustainable development of a country. This research aims to analyze the role of policies that have been made by the Government in the context of empowering local communities. Through a qualitative approach and case studies, this research will explore the implementation and impact of these policies on increasing the capacity, participation and welfare of local communities. The research results highlight the role of government policy clusters in empowering local communities, which involves providing resources, access to education, and creating a supportive environment. Although the cluster had a significant positive impact in increasing the economic independence and quality of life of local communities, challenges related to slow bureaucracy, corruption and policy changes were also identified. In this context, active participation of local communities is recognized as a key element, however, more effective policy implementation requires strong commitment and cooperation between government and communities. By building inclusive and transparent relationships, government policies can be more responsive to the unique needs of each community, creating a solid foundation for local community empowerment and sustainable progress nationally.

Abstract

Remote indigenous communities are one of the targets of social work intervention in Indonesia. Various community empowerment policies and programs as well as various psychosocial intervention approaches have been implemented to help resolve their various economic, social, educational and health problems. This research aims to analyze the role and challenges of social workers in empowering remote communities. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. The research results show that the role of social workers is very important in empowering Remote Indigenous Communities (KAT). With their roles as enablers, brokers, mediators, advocates, educators and protectors, social workers are able to overcome various challenges faced by KAT, including limited resources and social stigma. An approach that is sensitive to the culture and needs of indigenous communities, as well as collaboration with various related parties, is key in ensuring the success of the KAT empowerment program. Thus, the role of social workers is crucial in ensuring that empowerment efforts are carried out effectively, sustainably, and respect cultural diversity and human rights.

Abstract

The phenomenon of low scientific literacy among early childhood learners, particularly in inclusive educational institutions, indicates a gap between policy and classroom practice. Children with special needs often experience limited access to adaptive science learning, even though scientific literacy skills are essential for developing reasoning and problem-solving abilities in daily life. This study aims to analyze teachers’ strategies for developing scientific literacy among children with special needs in inclusive early childhood education and to identify the challenges and solutions implemented by teachers at Ibnu Sina Islamic Kindergarten in Bandung Regency. The study employed a qualitative case study design, using in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and analysis of learning documents. Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, with validity ensured through triangulation and member checking. The findings reveal that teachers applied differentiated instruction, interpersonal communication, and the use of visual media, simple technology, and the surrounding environment as a natural laboratory. Collaboration among classroom teachers, special education teachers, parents, and the principal emerged as a key factor for success. The main challenges included limited resources, pedagogical competence, and the lack of specialized training in scientific literacy for children with special needs. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of enhancing teacher training, strengthening systemic support, and fostering school–family partnerships to achieve sustainable, inclusive science education.

Abstract

The concept of restorative justice is predicated on the idea that the process of conflict resolution should take place through means other than the imposition of criminal sanctions and should involve both the individuals who committed the offense and the others who were affected by it. An essential component of restorative justice is the promotion of peace and forgiveness, as well as the enhancement of relationships between victims and perpetrators and the elimination of the damaging social stigma associated with repeat offenders. In Indonesia, criminal offenses are punished in accordance with the decisions reached by the courts. If it is done to children or teenagers, it can result in negative stigma and prejudice, both of which can have an effect on the development of the child in the future. As a result, it is imperative that children be safeguarded by investigating alternative legal strategies for dealing with legal situations involving children, such as the possibility of using restorative justice. This study's objective is to investigate the application of restorative justice principles within Indonesia's juvenile justice system. The research approach that is being used is legal research, and the research method that is being used is normative juridical law research. Studies of published works and historical documents are examples of secondary sources of data. As stated in Law Number 11 of 2012 concerning the Juvenile Justice System, which places an emphasis on deliberation between perpetrators, victims, families, and related parties, the findings of the study lead one to the conclusion that restorative justice is an alternative to solving legal problems outside of the court. The objective is not vengeance but rather recovery.

Abstract

Extreme poverty remains a structural issue that hinders improving the quality of life of communities, especially in areas with minimal access to education, health care, and social protection. This study aims to analyze the role and effectiveness of Community School-based social protection as an alternative community empowerment strategy to break out of the cycle of extreme poverty. Using a qualitative approach with descriptive methods, this study gathered data through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation studies in communities implementing the Community School model. The results indicate that implementing Community Schools as a strategy to address extreme poverty has significant potential to improve the quality of life of children from the poorest families through boarding school education, a vocational curriculum, and a holistic approach involving health support and family empowerment. However, the study also identified significant challenges, such as limited competent teaching staff, incomplete long-term funding, the risk of social and psychological impacts on students, and targeting issues due to suboptimal data validity. Nevertheless, if these challenges can be addressed with appropriate policies, the Community School program has the potential to be an effective intervention in breaking the cycle of extreme poverty in Indonesia.
