Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) learning model on the reading comprehension ability of grade IV A students at SDN Petukangan Utara 07. This study used a pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design, involving 30 students. The results of the pretest and posttest were analyzed using prerequisite analysis tests and hypothesis tests. The normality test was carried out using the Shapiro-Wilk test and showed that the data were normally distributed. The hypothesis test using a paired sample t-test obtained a sig. (2-tailed) result of 0.000 <0.05, so H₀ was rejected and H₁ was accepted. This indicates that there is a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores of students. In addition, the results of the N-Gain analysis showed that the increase in reading comprehension ability was in the moderate category. Thus, the results of this study conclude that the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) learning model has an effect on improving the reading comprehension skills of fourth-grade students at SDN Petukangan Utara 07.

Abstract

This study aims to explore how the Learning Cycle 5E model can enhance elementary students’ critical thinking skills in Indonesian language learning. The research used a quantitative approach with an experimental design of Posttest Only Control Group. The subjects were 60 fourth-grade students from SDN Pondok Labu 02 Jakarta Selatan, divided into an experimental group and a control group. The instrument used was a critical thinking test consisting of four indicators: interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and inference. The results showed that the experimental group achieved an average posttest score of 85.09%, while the control group scored 67.50%. The t-test result (tcount = 5.450 > ttable = 1.325, sig = 0.000 < 0.05) indicated a significant effect of the Learning Cycle 5E model. The R Square value of 0.507 suggests that the model contributed about 50.7% to the improvement in students’ critical thinking skills. In conclusion, applying the Learning Cycle 5E model effectively supports students in developing critical and active thinking during Indonesian language learning.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of brand image on customer retention with customer satisfaction as a mediating variable, as well as the role of physical evidence, among visitors of Mahoni Bangun Sentosa Tourism. This study employs a quantitative research approach using a survey method. Data were collected from 150 respondents who had visited Mahoni Bangun Sentosa Tourism at least once, selected through purposive sampling. Data analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with SmartPLS 4 software to test the proposed hypotheses. The results of this study indicate that: (1) brand image has a positive and significant effect on customer retention; (2) brand image has a positive and significant effect on customer satisfaction; (3) customer satisfaction has a positive and significant effect on customer retention; (4) customer satisfaction is able to mediate the effect of brand image on customer retention; (5) physical evidence has a positive and significant direct effect on customer retention; (6) physical evidence does not moderate the relationship between brand image and customer retention. These findings imply that strengthening brand image and enhancing customer satisfaction are essential strategies to improve customer retention in tourism destinations, while physical evidence serves as a direct supporting factor rather than a moderating variable.

Abstract

Nusmapi Island, located in Doreri Bay, Manokwari Regency, West Papua Province, is exposed to various anthropogenic activities that may introduce pollutants transported from the mainland. Fish are commonly used as bioindicators of aquatic pollution due to their ability to accumulate contaminants through food webs. This study was conducted on Nusmapi Island from June to August 2020 to examine differences in lead (Pb) concentrations among fish species and trophic groups. Fish samples represented two trophic groups: carnivores and herbivores that feed on algae and seagrass. Pb concentrations in fish muscle were analyzed using a Shimadzu AA-6880 atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS). The results showed that the average Pb concentration in the carnivorous group was 0.88 mg/kg, while the herbivorous group exhibited a higher average concentration of 1.13 mg/kg. The highest Pb concentration was recorded in Siganus spinus (1.34 mg/kg), whereas the lowest concentration was found in Neoniphon sammara (0.27 mg/kg). Elevated Pb levels in sediments and seagrass around Nusmapi Island may exert continuous environmental pressure on marine biota. As Pb concentrations in these environmental compartments exceed threshold levels, they may serve as major sources of contamination entering the food chain, increasing the toxicological risk for fish occupying higher trophic levels.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between business ethics, internal controls, cybersecurity, and foreign exchange transactions in Indonesia. Cybersecurity is positioned as a mediating mechanism that links governance-related factors to the success of foreign exchange transactions in the banking sector. Using a quantitative survey approach, data were collected from directors and managers of foreign exchange companies affiliated with the Indonesian Foreign Exchange Dealers Association (APVA) that were accessible during the data collection period. A total of 176 questionnaires were distributed, and 121 usable responses were analyzed using path analysis in the SPSS. The results show that business ethics positively and significantly affect cybersecurity, indicating that ethical values, such as integrity, transparency, accountability, and compliance, support stronger cybersecurity practices. Internal control also has a positive and significant effect on cybersecurity, suggesting that control mechanisms contribute to the protection of digital financial transactions. Furthermore, cybersecurity has a positive and significant effect on foreign exchange transactions. However, business ethics and internal controls do not have significant direct effects on foreign exchange transactions, indicating that their contributions operate indirectly through the aspect of cybersecurity. These findings highlight cybersecurity as a strategic governance capability that connects ethical conduct and internal control with transaction reliability, data integrity, and stakeholder trust.

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education for children with special needs (ABK) is both a challenge and an urgent need amidst efforts to realize inclusive education in Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the implementation of Islamic Religious Education in inclusive schools and madrasahs that accept children with special needs in Tolitoli Regency, Central Sulawesi. The study used a qualitative approach with observation, interviews, and documentation methods with Islamic Religious Education teachers, school or madrasah principals, and parents of students with special needs. The results show that the implementation of Islamic Religious Education still faces obstacles, both in terms of the availability of teachers with special pedagogical competencies, limited adaptive learning media, and a lack of supporting infrastructure. However, there are local strategies developed by teachers, such as individual approaches, practice-based learning methods, and the use of visual media to facilitate the understanding of religious concepts. This study emphasizes the importance of strengthening the capacity of Islamic Religious Education teachers through inclusive education training, collaboration with parents, and support from local government policies in providing an adaptive curriculum. Thus, the implementation of Islamic Religious Education for children with special needs (ABK) in Tolitoli Regency can become a learning model based on local wisdom that is humanistic, inclusive, and equitable.
