Abstract

  The former East Timorese who chose Indonesia as their country are now living in two state imaginations. First, psychological dependence on East Timor as the land of birth, ancestral land, and land of civilization. Second, juridical dependence on Indonesia as the result of the referendum on August 30, 1999. However, social relations between the former East Timorese and local communities are not always harmonious. They are accepted as guests who do not want to go home by the local community. This study measures the social distance between local and ex-East Timorese communities in Tuapukan Village in Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province, Indonesia. The theory used is Social Distance proposed by Emory S. Bogardus. Bogardus compiled a scale measuring a person's acceptance of others in the following elements: (1) willingness to marry someone else; (2) socialize closely as a member of the club's comrades; (3) accept him as a neighbor; (4) accept him as a citizen, and 5) visitors/tourists to our country, 6) leave this country. The research population is the Tuapukan community, Kupang Regency which consists of 546 heads of families. This number includes 211 former East Timorese Family Heads. Researchers used the Slovin formula. The desired critical value (limit of accuracy) (percent allowance for inaccuracy due to sampling error) is 5% with a confidence level of 75%. Data collection using a questionnaire. The data is tabulated according to the respondents' answers. Next, the percentage is calculated and analyzed. The results showed that 36.67% of respondents answered that they were not willing to marry their family members with ex-East Timorese. Meanwhile, social distancing is almost non-existent in terms of respondents' willingness to accept ex-East Timorese as office mates. Only 3.33% of respondents answered that they were not willing to accept ex-East Timorese as office mates or in other words 96.67% answered that they were willing to accept ex-East Timorese as office mates.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengangkat kekayaan budaya dan bahasa Helong, khususnya  tentang pemali. Salah satu warisan masa lampau yang masih berkembang sampai saat ini atau biasa disebut dengan pantangan. Konsep pemali yang diangkat yaitu hal-hal yang dipanggap perlu dihindari dan yang perlu dilaksanakan dalam kehidupan KBH supaya dapat dijadikan sumber belajar untuk membentuk karakter dan memperkuat identitas etnis KBH. Penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif-kualitatif dan berfokus pada bahasa Helong (Darat) dan makna budaya yang menjadi konsep pemikiran dan pemahaman KBHD terhadap hal-hal yang dianggap pemali, baik yang masih bertahan maupun yang telah ditinggalkan oleh KBHD. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori Linguistik Kebudayaan perspektif Gary B. Palmer. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan cara wawancara mendalam dan FGD. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pemali dalam KB Helong secara tidak langsung menyumbang sejumlah filosofi hidup yang bermuara pada penanaman nilai-nilai moral baik dari sisi psikososial maupun ekologis. Kontribusi pemaknaan pemali KBHD bagi pendidikan karakter yaitu Kecerdasan Sosial, Kecerdasan Kognitif, Kecerdasan Spiritual, dan Kecerdasan Lingkungan.

Abstract

Pandemi covid-19 dan bencana badai siklon tropis “seroja” yang dialami oleh masyarakat NTT, berdampak pula pada pembelajaran. Harapan akan perubahan personal dari peserta didik menjadi terhambat. Hal ini dialami oleh masyarakat etnik Helong dan pengungsi eks Timor Timur yang bermukim di kelurahan Kolhua (RT 32), Kecamatan Maulafa, Kota Kupang. Sasaran utama dalam kegiatan PKM ini adalah siswa/i terdampak badai siklon tropis “Seroja” di RT 32 Kelurahan Kolhua, Kecamatan Maulafa, Kota Kupang. Kegiatan PKM ini merupakan sebuah bentuk nyata kepedulian program studi Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia terhadap dampak bencana yang dialami oleh masyarakat serta realisasi dari program Merdeka Belajar-Kampus Merdeka yang dirancang oleh program studi dalam rumpun mata kuliah Café Satra.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berfokus pada analisis soal UTS mata pelajaran bahasa Indonesia kelas VII SMP Negeri 6 Kupang Tengah tahun ajaran 2020/2021. Masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah tidak adanya analisis soal tes secara menyeluruh sebelum soal tersebut diberikan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan kualitas soal ditinjau dari kesesuaian soal dengan ranah kognitif taksonomi Bloom dan kesesuaian soal dengan materi, konstruksi, dan bahasa. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa dari 15 nomor soal yang diberikan terdapat soal yang berada pada level kognitif C1 berjumlah 3 soal (20%), C2 berjumlah 8 butir soal (54%), C3 berjumlah 2 butir soal (13%), dan C4 berjumlah 2 butir soal (13%). Sedangkan untuk level kognitif C5 dan C6 tidak didistribusikan dalam soal penilaian tengah semester. Sedangkan berdasarkan kesesuaian soal dengan materi, konstruksi, dan bahasa dari 15 nomor soal terdapat 6 butir soal yang tidak sesuai dengan materi dan 9 butir soal yang sesuai dengan materi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian di atas dapat disimpulkan bahwa soal-soal yang dibuat belum memenuhi standar ranah kognitif taksonomi Bloom (C1:15%, C2:15%, C3:20%, C4:20%, C5:15%, C6:15%) dan tidak memenuhi standar kesesuaian soal dengan materi, konstruksi, dengan bahasa.

Abstract

East Nusa Tenggara is rich in local wisdom spread across several islands and regencies/cities in government administration. The city of Kupang is administratively-geographically located near the center of the provincial government. The logical consequence of the position of this administrative area is the proliferation of technological developments which have implications in various aspects of life. One that is clearly visible is the visual design of the advertisements displayed in every open public space. Visible ad designs tend to use visual displays that contain popular culture. This leads to the sinking of the existence of the local image owned by the people of East Nusa Tenggara. Through a descriptive-qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, this study seeks to reveal elements of ideology and culture in the design of billboards in open public spaces in Kupang City. Within the framework of the Semiotics theory, the local image becomes the object to be analyzed. The product produced in this research is documentation of local image visualization.

Abstract

Literature is an art that is an element of culture. Literary aesthetics contribute positively in controlling and filling empty spaces in human life. Like literary aesthetics in general, the Manggarai ethnic goet literary aesthetic in Flores has a strategic position in instilling the values ​​of life, be it moral, social, educational, spiritual, and aesthetic values ​​in future generations. This article examines the study of eco-feminism on the literary aesthetics of Yospeh Ngadut's go'et paki ata. This research is classified as a library research using quasi-qualitative research. This research method uses the hermeneutic method to obtain optimal literary meaning of Goet Paki Ata. From the results of data analysis on the literary aesthetic text of Goet Paki ata, the following findings are obtained. The literary aesthetic of Paki Ata's go'et is a philosophical creative process that finds a way back to find another self in nature. The literary aesthetic of Paki Ata's go'et is an aesthetic interpretation that is critical of the dominance of the patriarchal power that subordinates women to seeing nature as herself.

Abstract

This article discusses the contextual meaning contained in the short story Jejak Pelangi di Gunung Kenari by Jefta H. Atapeni. There are five contexts discussed in this article, namely social context, political context, situational context, physical context and cultural context. The purpose of this study is to describe the contextual meaning contained in the short story Jejak Pelangi di Gunung Kenari by Jefta H. Atapeni. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The theory used is the sociology theory of literary works according to Wallek and Warren which focuses on the study of the relationship between literature and society. The results of this study indicate that from the five contexts, namely social context, political context, situational context, physical context and cultural context, found a social context about social care among figures, political context about political discrimination between rulers and small communities; the context of the situation about the atmosphere of anxiety, silence, happiness and emotion; the physical context of the physical violence perpetrated by the security forces against Mateu and the cultural context of marriage.

Abstract

"The Meaning of Doang Koa Ritual Speech in the Kedang ethnic group in Buyasuri District, Lembata Regency". This study aims to describe the meaning of ritual speech doang koa in the Kedang ethnic group in Buyasuri District, Lembata Regency, using Roland Barthez's theory of Semiotics by emphasizing: (1) sign denotation that produces meaning directly through basic images captured by the five senses, (2) sign connotations that present cultural meaning due to cultural construction, (3) sign myths that interpret meanings that naturalize a belief. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method. Qualitative descriptive research method is a research that provides an objective, systematic, and factual picture according to data related to the research focus without using statistical principles. The results showed that the meaning of the ritual speech doang koa is a form of request for self-purification and protection to the highest form of Ula Loyo Ero Au through the intercession of ancestors as a feature of family ties and relationships of living together that are not broken even by death.

Abstract

The Caci aesthetic of the Manggarai ethnic group in Flores does not only function as a show that entertains the community. Caci aesthetics contributes to the value of knowledge for this aesthetic society. A number of aesthetic elements such as the call are symbols of the stored knowledge and record the traces of the Manggarai ethnic culture. Panggal is an aesthetic artifact, the fruit of the world of Manggarai ethnic aesthetic ideas and dialectic aesthetic knowledge. The hermeneutic theory of symbols is used to dissect research problems. This research uses qualitative research methods with an ethnographic approach. The findings in this study are that the pelvis is an aesthetic artifact that carves a fertility concept that can be read from two dimensional oppositions, namely the physical and the spiritual.

Abstract

Each ethnic group has a unique and culturally based way of instilling educational values. The inculcation of this value can be through literary works, both in the form of stories and poetry. Poetry in Manggarai ethnic literature, known as go'et. Goet is a way of inheriting the value of education in the Manggarai ethnic group in Flores. Through goet, this ethnic group educates future generations to become useful and critical human beings. This paper raises one of the go'et idep works written by cultural observer Yoseph Ngadut. This research is classified as a qualitative descriptive study with the literature technique as a way of obtaining data. Poststructural is used as an approach in analyzing data. From the results of data analysis, it was obtained four categories of go'et idep texts as a paradigm of planting educational values. These four categories are findings in research. (1) The metaphor of hard objects as a form of planting educational values ​​is closely related to behaviorism learning theory. (2) Soft equipment metaphorized with animals as cognitive learning in cultivating educational values. (3) The third category is the class of constructivism in instilling educational values. The emphasis lies on change towards progress. (4) The category of criticism, Goet Idep sees the urgency of criticism in instilling educational values, so that critical humanism will emerge.
