Abstract

Early marriage is a social phenomenon that is still prevalent in many parts of the world, including Indonesia, with significant negative impacts on the health, education, and psychosocial well-being of individuals and communities. From a Hindu perspective, early marriage is not considered ideal as it contradicts the teachings on the importance of studying at a young age (brahmancari) before entering the household stage (grhasta). The practice of early marriage is often influenced by tradition, social pressure, and economic conditions, and has adverse effects on physical and mental health, as well as inhibiting the moral and psychosocial development of adolescents. This research uses communication methods through socialization and interactive discussions in Oman Nyambu Hamlet to raise community awareness about the dangers of early marriage. The results showed that socialization and legal and religious counseling are essential to increase community knowledge about the negative impacts of early marriage. These activities involve education and interactive discussions that help the community, especially teenagers and parents, understand the importance of delaying marriage until they reach emotional and mental maturity. Efforts to strengthen this awareness are expected to reduce the number of early marriages and improve the quality of life of the community. Thus, strengthening public awareness of the negative impact of early marriage in the Hindu perspective must continue to be promoted through various education and counseling programs. Only with high awareness and a good understanding of the importance of the brahmancari period, people can prepare themselves properly for life.

Social dynamics and technological developments have an influence, both directly and indirectly, on attitudes, values, and patterns of behavior, as well as the perspective of each individual in a community as part of the larger society. Likewise with the Balinese Hindu community in Lombok. The influence of ideology that comes from sampradaya which offers all new and different things and is considered to have more value, than what has been believed so far, can lead to changes in the thinking or ideology of each individual. So it is necessary to study the ritual primordialism of Balinese Hindus in Lombok. This study uses a qualitative descriptive research type with data sources in the form of non-participant observations, structured interviews and documents. The location of the temple was determined purposefully. The data is then classified, reduced, and interpreted, then the results of the analysis are presented in a narrative manner. The results obtained in this study are firstly the implementation of ritual primordialism for Balinese Hindus still applying customs, culture and traditions, regarding the series of ceremonies and ceremonies used, by applying the yadnya level as a form of ritual adaptation. Second, Hindu ritual primordialism has strengths in the form of social interaction and acculturation of Balinese and Sasak ethnic cultures, as well as community economic turnover. The three ethnic Balinese Hindus still have high primordial resistance, which has implications for the maintenance of ritual traditions and the existence of temples in Lombok based on religious emotions, belief systems, rite systems and religious ritual equipment, and religious groups and their systems that are still maintained.

Religion is an attempt to build peace, but acts of intolerance and radicalism are denial and misappropriation of the essence of the religious process. This is important to reaffirm religious teachings, especially in the book of Slokantara, to strengthen character, support moderate religious behaviour, and build peace in Indonesia. This study uses qualitative research with a literature study approach and data analysis techniques in the form of document analysis of relevant libraries, especially the analysis of the Slokantara book. Based on the results of the interpretation of the book of Slokantara, it can be explained that there are values that are relevant and related to the concept of character education as formulated in national education. Character in the educational process is built on values, norms and morality, which are strengthened through the teachings contained in the scriptures. The study of ethical values in the book of Slokantara can be a foundation for strengthening character and aims to increase understanding of the importance of moderate behaviour to build a harmonious life between religious people. In addition, this study is expected to be a literature reference for relevant studies and research, especially studies on character education and religious moderation.

Abstract

This study examines the application of the discovery learning model in cultural arts learning at Vocational High Schools (SMK) as well as the challenges and solutions faced. Using a qualitative approach and case study design at SMK Negeri 5 Mataram, data were collected through observation, interviews and documentation. The results showed that discovery learning was able to increase students' engagement and creativity. However, limited learning time, minimal facilities, and teachers' lack of understanding of this model are the main obstacles. In addition, students' different cultural backgrounds affect the effectiveness of discovery learning in art learning. Proposed solutions include improved teacher training, adaptation of cultural arts contexts, utilization of digital media, and collaboration with arts communities. This research makes a novel contribution by highlighting the importance of time flexibility, differentiation of student guidance, and creative process-based evaluation in discovery learning. The findings provide practical guidance for the development of more effective cultural arts learning in SMK.

Abstract

This study analyzes the concept of wiku in Kidung Cowak, a Balinese Hindu religious text that emphasizes the spiritual balance between sekala (material world) and niskala (spiritual world). In the Hindu traditions of Bali and Lombok, a wiku not only acts as a ritual leader, but also as a spiritual guide who directs people on the path of purity. This study uses a philological approach to inventory, translate and interpret the original manuscripts, as well as a hermeneutic approach to explore the symbolic meaning and relevance of Kidung Cowak's teachings in a modern context. The research findings show that Kidung Cowak views kewikuan as an ideal form of spiritual attainment, achieved through self-control, the practice of upawasa (fasting), yogic discipline, and a deep understanding of religious teachings or putusing aji. The text also provides guidance in choosing the right guru and criticizes wiku who focus on superficial aspects. The symbols in Kidung Cowak reveal a spiritual journey that demands harmony between social life and the ultimate spiritual goal of moksa. This study underscores the relevance of Kidung Cowak as a guide for wiku to achieve wisdom and inner peace amidst the challenges of modernization and globalization.

Abstract

This research aims to identify effective steps in optimising cultural arts learning planning at SMK Negeri 5 Mataram and the challenges faced by teachers in its implementation. Through a qualitative approach with a case study design, data was obtained through observation, structured interviews, and documentation. The results show that the preparation of lesson plans that are relevant to the characteristics of students is an important first step, but still lacks attention to differentiation of learning for students with low interest in cultural arts. The discovery learning method, although effective in increasing student engagement, faces challenges related to the limited availability of facilities and infrastructure. In addition, the constraints of students who feel they have the wrong major are the main obstacles in achieving learning objectives. Therefore, optimising lesson planning requires a more flexible and collaborative approach between teachers, students and school authorities. This research contributes to the development of a more innovative and effective cultural arts lesson planning model, by prioritising differentiation and the utilisation of technology and more varied media.
