Abstract

Language development is the child's ability to process vocabulary, give opinions, and socialise with others. Language development factors are very important for early childhood because using good and correct language can make it easier for children to communicate with others. The purpose of this study was to determine the extent of children's language development through the storytelling method. The problem that occurs is the lack of children's confidence to communicate and interact with the school environment, as well as a lack of understanding related to knowledge in the field of stimulating children. This research uses a qualitative approach where the results are collected through observation, interviews, observations, and documentation. Where the observation step carried out in this study went directly to the field to make direct observations, observing the process of children's language development by telling stories. The results of the research on children's language development at Paud Kumara Cita developed well by using the storytelling method even though there was one child who still could not communicate well.

Abstract

Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem that is still a serious concern in Indonesia, especially in West Nusa Tenggara, where the prevalence reaches more than 30%. In addition to impacting delayed physical growth, stunting also has implications for children's brain and cognitive development, which is characterized by low IQ scores, language delays, and reduced problem-solving skills. This study aims to analyze how sensory modalities can be used to stimulate the brains of stunted children in Mataram, focusing on strategies applied by teachers and parents. The study used a qualitative descriptive approach with a phenomenological design, involving six stunted children at Dwijendra Mataram Kindergarten, as well as supporting data from teachers and parents through observation, structured interviews, documentation, and simple questionnaires. The results indicated that stunted children responded more slowly to visual and auditory tasks but were more adaptive to tactile and kinesthetic stimulation, while 70% of teachers had never received special training and 65% of parents did not understand the importance of sensory-based brain stimulation. These findings confirm that stunting in Mataram is not only influenced by malnutrition, but also by limited stimulation of the human senses, namely the senses of sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch. both at school and at home. The originality of this research lies in the introduction of the concept of modality task fit, which emphasizes the importance of choosing the type of stimulation according to the strength of the sensory pathway of stunted children. This concept contributes to early childhood education and public health by offering a precise, systematic, and effective intervention framework. The study's conclusions emphasized the importance of combining nutritional improvement with multi-sensory-based brain stimulation to optimize the cognitive development of stunted children.

Abstract

This research examines how ethnopedagogy and culturally shaped religious moderation differ from formal education’s normative and textual approaches to religious character. Specifically, it analyzes how pasraman ethnopedagogy develops moderate character in sisya brahmacari through daily cultural practices rather than doctrinal teaching. Using a qualitative-descriptive method incorporating participatory observation, interviews, ritual documentation, and thematic analysis connected to Bourdieu's habitus theory and Geertzian cultural interpretation, the study hypothesizes that repeated cultural practice in pasraman forms moderates habitus without explicit moderation lessons. Results demonstrate that religious moderation is embodied in body ethics, emotional control, empathy, and collective rites that foster spiritual togetherness (madya), rather than delivered through direct instruction. These insights suggest that Pasraman operates as a silent but effective cultural curriculum, advancing moderate character more effectively than formal education. The article provides a model of ethnopedagogy based on cultural habits as an alternative to current moderation education, arguing for a shift from abstract principles to value internalization through lived culture.

Abstract

The development of children's creativity in rural areas faces challenges, especially the limited facilities and the lack of structured productive activities. West Tanah Embet Hamlet has local potential in the form of patchwork waste from household businesses, but it has not been utilized optimally. Training on making patchwork brooches is carried out to increase children's skills, creativity, confidence, and awareness of the use of waste into valuable products as a medium of creative education and introduction to entrepreneurship from an early age. The methods used include initial observation to identify needs and potentials (with SWOT analysis), communication with related parties, direct training, practice, and evaluation of the results. This activity was carried out for 6 meetings involving 23 children aged 7-12 years. The results showed that 45% of participants were able to complete at least 2 brooches with floral and butterfly designs, 70% of participants were able to cut fabrics according to patterns, come up with spontaneous innovations in color combinations and embellishments, and show improved aesthetic and cooperation skills. This program not only provides technical skills in sewing, but also succeeds in adding ideas, forming a creative and collaborative character that can produce a variety of unique products, and has the potential to be developed as a creative economy model based on local resources.
