Abstract

Learning mathematics at the elementary school level requires media that can bridge students’ understanding of abstract material. Through the media, students can make mathematics material acceptable. This activity aims to improve the skills of teachers in using manipulative media in mathematics learning material measurement. This activity target is the teachers at State Elementary School Number 78 South Bengkulu with 15 teachers. The activity stages consist of three stages, preparation, training implementation, and evaluation. Teacher skills were observed using pedagogic tests and teacher response questionnaires. The result of this activity is the improvement of teacher skills, the average skill is 67.50 and the teacher's response is in the high category. This activity suggests that the teacher conveys mathematics material in class using media to bridge students in mastering concepts.

Abstract

Abstract

Mathematical literacy is an important ability for students in Indonesia to face the implementation of minimum competency assessment and learning in the 21st century. This study aims to describe students' mathematical literacy skills in solving problems on pattern material in the Bengkulu local context. This study used a descriptive qualitative design. The research subjects were 30 students grade VIII from five schools in Bengkulu City. Subject selection through purposive sampling technique based on the level of intelligence with the number of each school is six students. Data were collected through interviews and mathematical literacy test using description questions that have been validated and tested. The data analysis consists of data reduction, data presentation, and concluding. The findings of this study are that students with low to moderate knowledge tend to have literacy skills at level 2. In contrast, students in the high knowledge group have literacy skills at level 3. Many students have used mathematical arguments to solve literacy problems but did not use concepts correctly. Students have not used the model structurally at the modeling stage, which resulted in errors in problem-solving and representation. Based on this, teachers need to emphasize the concept of material and mathematical modeling in learning.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the activities and student learning outcomes in Mathematics learning by applying the Realistics Mathematics Education approach through the Geogebra-assisted APOS model. This type of research is Classroom Action Research. The research subjects were class XI MIA SMA Negeri 9 Kaur even semester academic year 2022/2023. Data collection was carried out using observation sheets for self checklist activities and student learning outcomes tests. This Classroom Action Research was carried out in two cycles referring to Suharsimi and Arikunto by going through four stages, namely planning (plan), action (action), observation (observe), and reflection (reflect). Either Cycle I or II, both carried out with three meetings each and one cycle test. The results showed that the increase in learning activity could be seen from the average score on the self-checklist observation sheet of student learning activities cycle I to cycle II respectively: 20.33 (quite active criterion); 29.66 (Active criteria). Improved student learning outcomes can be seen from the average score of student learning outcomes and training tests cycle I to cycle II, namely 65.87; 80 with the percentage of classical learning completeness from cycle I to cycle II, namely 47%; 82%. This shows that there is an increase in activity and student learning outcomes seen from Cycle I and Cycle II.Keywords: Learning outcomes; APOS Model; Realistics Mathematics Education  (RME) approach

Abstract

Referring to the results of an international survey, one of which is PISA, the achievements of Indonesian students are still below the global average score. The main problem that is the causative factor is that students need to be used to solving similar problems. The issues used in PISA questions are familiar to only some students in Indonesia. This study aimed to develop PISA model mathematical problems with valid and reliable local contexts and potential impacts. The type of research conducted is development research using the ADDIE model with the stages of analysis, design, development, and evaluation. The test subjects were fifth-grade elementary school students in Bengkulu and South Sumatra provinces. The research instruments were product development validity sheets, legibility sheets, and student response questionnaires. Data analysis consisted of validity analysis using the Aiken Index and reliability with Cronbach Alpha. The study results show that PISA model mathematical questions with the regional context meet the validity, reliability, and potential impact criteria. The results of the implementation test showed that 11 students (27.50%) were in the low category, 32 students (55.00%), and 7 students (17.50%) were in the high category.
