Abstract

The development of the manufacturing and technology sectors requires effective cross-cultural communication skills. Mandarin has become a strategic competency in the workplace due to the large number of companies that interact with partners or experts from China. However, Mandarin language learning at the higher education level in Indonesia still tends to be academic and does not fully accommodate the practical language needs of the industrial environment. This study aims to develop a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) called "Industrial Mandarin" as an interactive online learning medium that is contextual to the world of manufacturing and technology. The study uses the 4D (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate) Research and Development (R&D) model. Data was obtained through interviews with industry partners and questionnaires administered to 85 respondents working in the manufacturing sector. The results show that the Industrial Mandarin MOOC has a validity rate of 91% (highly valid) and a practicality rate of 89% (highly practical). The final product includes ten learning topics, two digital modules, and explanatory videos uploaded to mooc.um.ac.id.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aimed to develop a humorous children’s audio podcast based on the Seven Habits of Great Indonesian Children to strengthen character education in elementary schools. Using a Research and Development design with the ADDIE model, data were collected through observations, interviews, expert validation, student questionnaires, and short character-based tests. Instruments included validation sheets, teacher practicality questionnaires, student response forms, and tests aligned with the Seven Habits indicators. Data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative techniques supported by qualitative feedback. The product consisted of seven humorous podcast episodes. Validation results indicated high feasibility (mean = 4.67). Field testing with 48 students at SDN Sumberdem 1, Malang Regency, showed very positive responses (mean = 4.74; 95%). Students were enthusiastic, understood moral messages clearly, and demonstrated emerging positive traits such as empathy, responsibility, discipline, and motivation. The podcast is feasible, engaging, and effective for strengthening character education and supporting the Pancasila Student Profile.

Abstract

This study developed the "Cerita Kita" website, integrating ecocriticism and local wisdom to enhance elementary students' multiliteracy and literary appreciation. Using design-based research with the ADDIE framework, the prototype's validity was measured through expert validation (CVI=0.89-0.91), practicality via implementation success rate (88%) and System Usability Scale (SUS=81.4), and effectiveness through stratified ecocriticism assessments and reflective journals. The study involved 84 fourth-graders in urban (n=33) and rural (n=51) Malang, Indonesia. Quantitative data analysis employed descriptive statistics and paired t-tests, showing significant multiliteracy gains, particularly in ecological awareness (rural: 78.6±18.3; urban: 56.4±21.7; p<0.01). Qualitative thematic analysis revealed that rural students' cultural connections drove their 39.2% superiority in environmental applications. The Coban Rondo legend proved most effective (87% ecological interpretation accuracy). Results demonstrate that cultural anchoring—not technological sophistication—is pivotal for digital multiliteracy, offering a sustainable model for Global South educational contexts that prioritizes cultural narratives over complex technology to achieve SDG 4.7 goals.
