Abstract

Health is a condition in which we are far from or free of diseases. Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) is a lifestyle pattern that aligns with health guidelines to improve the quality of life. PHBS can be implemented in the community, households, and schools. PHBS encompasses various health behaviors performed consciously, allowing family members or individuals to take care of their own health and actively participate in community health initiatives. Socialization about Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) has been carried out among the residents of Rabeu Village through methods such as lectures, discussions, and the use of poster media. The results indicate that, in general, the residents of Rabeu Village already understand the importance of maintaining environmental cleanliness and adopting clean and healthy living behaviors.

Abstract

Helminthiasis is a disease caused by intestinal parasitic worms with a relatively high prevalence that spreads throughout Indonesia. While not fatal, this disease gradually affects the health and productivity of those infected through a decline in nutritional status. Its slow-progressing nature and tendency to be asymptomatic classify helminthiasis as a neglected disease. According to data from the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 1 billion people are infected with Ascaris lumbricoides, 795 million people with Trichiuris trichiura, or 740 million people with hookworm. The results obtained from socialization activities conducted in Leupeung Ulee Alue Village, Aceh Besar, indicate that the community still has limited understanding of the dangers posed by helminthiasis and the factors that can lead to infection. This community engagement initiative aims to provide the residents of Leupeung Ulee Alue Village with a better understanding of this disease.

Abstract

The 3R-based waste management (reduce, reuse, recycle) carried out by children in Cot Mancang Village, Aceh Besar, has significant potential for replication elsewhere, thus requiring an in-depth study of its implementation. This community service aims to identify the social characteristics and participation capacity of children in Cot Mancang Village in waste management. It analyzes the children's perceptions of the health benefits of proper waste management. The service employs an educational approach and observation involving 20 school-aged children. The objectives of the service are to measure the level of understanding of children in Cot Mancang Village both before and after the socialization and to provide materials related to waste management. The results of the service show an improvement in the understanding of waste management among the children in Cot Mancang Village. This improvement is evident from the pre-test and post-test results conducted before and after the socialization. In conclusion, it is clear that socialization regarding waste management can enhance the children's understanding of proper waste management.

Abstract

Health is a crucial aspect that directly impacts human life, whether consciously or unconsciously. Those who are healthy are the ones who can truly enjoy life to the fullest. While hypertension is commonly associated with parents or the elderly, it can also affect adolescents and adults. This condition has become a significant issue not only in Aceh, Indonesia but globally. Hypertension serves as a risk factor for various other serious illnesses like heart disease, kidney failure, diabetes, and stroke. Engaging in cardiac exercises is highly beneficial for maintaining heart health. In Indonesia, these exercises have gained popularity, with several series designed to cater to individuals of all ages and fitness levels. This Community Service aims to detect and prevent chronic diseases, particularly hypertension, by conducting health assessments and raising awareness about the risks and management of hypertension. Based on the outcomes of Community Service activities in Gampong Bak Buloh, Kuta Baro District, Aceh Besar, it can be inferred that the community has gained awareness regarding the significance of health screenings to identify chronic diseases, particularly hypertension and its complications, thus enhancing the overall health status of the community.

Abstract

Hypertension is currently known as the ‘silent killer’ because it is not often found with obvious signs and symptoms. Risk factors for hypertension include family genetic history, overweight or obesity, lack of physical activity, unhealthy lifestyle, alcohol consumption, and stress. The purpose of the activity is to increase public understanding in the prevention of hypertension in order to avoid its complications. This activity was held in the polyclinic room of the Aceh Besar Hospital. Participants who attended directly were patients who visited the hospital for re-control and treatment with a total of 17 patients. This community service method was carried out in the form of counselling and discussion. This activity was carried out on 25 April 2024 in the hospital poly room at 09.30 WIB until completion. The activity began with recording the participants and continued with the presentation of the objectives of the activity and material related to hypertension and its complications. From the activity it was found that the patient's level of understanding of poor diet was low in fibre, low physical activity, the use of excess salt content in cooking. It is recommended that people with hypertension can improve their lifestyle, diet, rest patterns that are not appropriate, and for families to continue to provide strong motivation to sufferers.

Abstract

Upper respiratory tract infections (URTIs) is a condition in which a person suddenly expels air from the thoracic cavity through the epiglottis and mouth, usually accompanied by a cough with phlegm or no phlegm. Coughs and colds are common complaints experienced by children and adults, generally caused by viral infections such as influenza. The disease can affect the upper respiratory tract, including the lungs, nose and throat. Traditional treatments such as simple inhalation using peppermint oil can help alleviate URTI symptoms. This study aims to improve the community's understanding of the identification and traditional treatment of Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI), as well as assess the role of nurses in providing nursing care through simple inhalation therapy. In this activity, the nurse acts as a care giver who provides comprehensive nursing care, starting from assessment to evaluation. Based on the results of community service activities in Fampong Lam Neuheun, Kuta Baro, Aceh Besar, it is known that the community has gained a better understanding in recognizing the symptoms of URTI and performing traditional medicine appropriately.
