Abstract

Background: Smile aesthetics, particularly the buccal corridor, is a critical aspect of facial visual harmony that influences self-confidence and social interactions. Aesthetic perception is subjective and influenced by factors such as gender and demographic conditions. Objective: The study aimed to compare aesthetic perceptions of the buccal corridor between male and female adolescents attending senior high school in non-urban areas of Banjarmasin. Methods: An analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design was conducted, involving 216 respondents (108 males & 108 females) selected based on inclusion criteria. The instrument used to assess buccal corridor perception was a pictorial questionnaire featuring three buccal corridor variations (wide, moderate, and narrow), evaluated using a Visual Analog Scale (VAS). Data were analyzed with the Mann-Whitney test. Results: The results showed that female adolescents had the highest mean aesthetic perception score for the buccal corridor (mean: 62.99). Statistical testing revealed p < 0.05 for all categories, indicating a significant difference in aesthetic perception between males and females across all buccal corridor types. Conclusion: Female adolescents demonstrated higher aesthetic perception levels than males, suggesting they possess more selective and meticulous preferences when evaluating buccal corridor appearance.  Keywords: buccal corridor, smile aesthetics, perception, non-urban

This is due to behavioral factors ignoring oral hygiene based on lack of knowledge. This knowledge can be improved by conducting health promotion using attractive and interactive media such as smart box media. The advantages of this media are easy to use and children can learn while playing which is then able to develop children's cognitive abilities optimally. Purpose: To analyze the effect of smart box media on oral health knowledge in students aged 9-11 years. Methods: Quasi-experimental research with non-equivalent control group design with purposive sampling technique. The population of this study were students aged 9-11 years at SDN Kelayan Barat 3 Banjarmasin with a sample of 48 respondents. The instrument used was a questionnaire with 12 questions. The analysis used was Wilcoxon and Mann whitney test. Results: The Wilcoxon test showed that a significant increase in knowledge occurred after the intervention using smart box media (p<0.001). Conclusion: Smart box media is effectively used in oral health promotion to improve children's oral health knowledge in students aged 9–11 years. Keywords: Smart box; dental health education; oral health knowledge.

The results of the Somers'd test data analysis obtained a significance value of 0.034 (p<0.05) and the correlation value obtained was 0.571, which means that the correlation strength is moderate with a positive correlation direction (unidirectional). Conclusion: The more democratic the parents use as parenting style the better the oral health behavior of children with Down syndrome will be.

A communication crisis and public trust that is not managed properly will become a serious threat to institutions because it affects the image and reputation of the organization, including becoming a serious threat to higher education institutions that can impact public trust and organizational sustainability. This study aims to analyze the implementation of effective communication strategies in the era of social media based on SWOT analysis in restoring the reputation of higher education institutions and identifying factors that determine the success of image restoration campaigns. The study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method at a state university in Kalimantan during the period of July-August 2025. Data was collected through crawling using the Brand24 media monitoring application with analysis of social media content, websites and online news portals (via Instagram and TikTok), monitoring of public sentiment using the Brand24 application, and analysis of engagement metrics. Data analysis used triangulation techniques to validate findings from various data sources. The implementation of measurable communication strategies through social media showed significant results with a 71% increase in positive public sentiment and a decrease in negative public sentiment to 4%. On the Instagram social media platform, it achieved an engagement rate of 140.1% with a total reach of 422,423 accounts, while TikTok achieved an engagement rate of 672.3% with 777 thousand views. Fact-based counter-issue strategies and promotion of the Tridharma program have proven effective in changing public perception and restoring public trust. Systematic and measurable social media management using a SWOT approach can be an effective tool in restoring the reputation of higher education institutions. Abstract

Background: Oral tumors are excessive cell growths in the oral cavity and rank 16th worldwide in incidence. However, Indonesian Health Surveys and Profiles do not yet include data on oral tumors. Ulin Hospital is the referral hospital for oral tumor cases in South Kalimantan. Purpose: A retrospective cross-sectional study to analyze the profile of oral tumor cases at Ulin Hospital, Banjarmasin, in 2019-2021.Methods:A retrospective cross-sectional study of the medical records of patients diagnosed with oral tumors at Ulin Hospital between 2019 and 2021. Inclusion criteria were all patient medical records with complete variables. The variables were age, gender, tumor type, tumor location, and therapy. Chi-square analysis was used.  Results: Oral cavity tumors are predominantly malignant, with squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) being the most common. SCC most commonly occurs in people aged 36–65 years, with the tongue being the most common location. There was no significant association between the year of incidence and tumor type (p>0.05), but there was a significant association between gender and tumor type (p<0.05). The most frequently administered therapy was chemotherapy. The most common benign oral tumors were pleomorphic adenoma (in 2019 and 2021) and fibromatous epulis (in 2020). Conclusions: Oral cavity tumors at Ulin Hospital are predominantly SCC, with gender being a significant factor in tumor type. Therefore, early detection and accurate diagnosis are crucial to improving patient prognosis. Keywords:Benign Tumor, Chemotherapy, Malignant Tumor, Oral Tumor, Squamous Cell Carcinoma
