Abstract

Abstract

Food security for farming households is an important issue in agrarian areas that still face limited access and low-quality food consumption. This research aims to analyze the consumption patterns and food security levels of farmer households in Nyawangan Village, Kras District, Kediri Regency. This research uses a quantitative descriptive method thru surveys of 56 farmer households selected by simple random sampling. Primary data were collected thru structured interviews using a 24-hour food recall and a household expenditure questionnaire. Analysis using the Energy Sufficiency Level (ESL) indicator, Expected Food Pattern (EFP), Food Expenditure Proportion (FEP), and cross-classification. The results show an average ESL of 83.8% (insufficient category) and an EFP score of 69.95, indicating a lack of diversity in consumption, still dominated by cereals. The average FEP of 55.96% indicates relatively high food expenditure. As many as 48.21% of households were classified as food secure, while 30.36% were in a state of food insecurity and vulnerability. It is concluded that food security is not yet fully stable due to low consumption diversity and economic pressure. Therefore, food diversification based on local potential, nutrition education, and strengthening the economic resilience of farmers' households is highly necessary.

Abstract

The advancement of science and technology has contributed to an increased consumer awareness regarding the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle. Currently, trend towards healthier living is developing among consumers, with a growing interest in organic products, such as rice. Despite the rising awareness of healthy food, the high price of organic products often affect the consumers in consuming organic rice. Furthermore, the limited availability of organic rice also plays a significant role in restricting its consumption. This study was conducted to estimate consumers' WTP for organic rice. Through WTP analysis, this research endeavors to measure the extent to which consumers are willing to pay a premium for organic rice. The research was carried out at Superindo in Gresik, involving 51 respondents The research data were analyzed using the CVM. Three types of rice were subjected to WTP analysis: white organic rice, brown organic rice, and black organic rice. The WTP values for white, brown, and black organic rice were obtained as follows: Rp. 38,315.5/kg, Rp. 42,069/kg, and Rp. 49,463/kg, respectively. The differences in consumers' WTP for white, brown, and black organic rice are generally influenced by consumers' perceptions of the health benefits associated with each type of rice.

Abstract

The growing demand for healthy food products has created significant opportunities for businesses in the healthy food sector; however, maintaining customer loyalty remains challenging amid increasing competition and changing consumer preferences. In this context, understanding the mechanisms through which brand-related and store-related factors influence customer loyalty is essential for developing sustainable customer relationships. This study aims to examine the effects of brand image, perceived quality, and store atmosphere on customer loyalty through purchase decisions as a mediating variable at Healthy Food Grainsly Surabaya. The study employed a mixed-methods approach by integrating quantitative and qualitative data to obtain a comprehensive understanding of customer behavior. Quantitative data were collected from 100 respondents using an accidental sampling technique and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The findings reveal that brand image and store atmosphere do not have significant direct effects on customer loyalty. However, both variables demonstrate significant indirect effects on customer loyalty through purchase decisions, indicating that purchase decisions play an important mediating role in translating customer perceptions into loyalty. Meanwhile, perceived quality and purchase decisions have significant direct effects on customer loyalty. The structural model demonstrates strong explanatory and predictive capabilities, indicating that the selected variables provide meaningful explanations of customer loyalty behavior. These findings suggest that customer loyalty is shaped not only by favorable perceptions of a brand and retail environment but also by actual purchasing experiences and perceived product quality. Therefore, businesses should strengthen product quality, facilitate positive purchase decisions, and complement branding and store-atmosphere strategies to establish sustainable long-term customer loyalty.

Abstract

General Background: Social media provides food MSMEs with broad and interactive opportunities for digital promotion. Specific Background: Bumbu Wilona actively uses Instagram and TikTok, generating substantial content exposure, yet high reach, impressions, and views do not necessarily indicate favorable consumer responses or successful marketing communication. Knowledge Gap: Exposure metrics cannot determine whether consumers like promotional content, understand product information, develop purchase interest, or respond positively, while differences between the two platforms require consumer-based evaluation. Aims: This quantitative descriptive study evaluated Instagram and TikTok as promotional media for Bumbu Wilona using the EPIC Model among 120 respondents who had viewed content on both platforms. Results: Instagram recorded scores of 4.18 for Empathy, 4.19 for Persuasion, 4.15 for Impact, and 4.20 for Communication, producing an EPIC Rate of 4.18. TikTok recorded 4.14, 4.14, 4.11, and 4.29, respectively, producing an EPIC Rate of 4.17. Both overall scores were classified as effective, while TikTok Communication was classified as very effective. Novelty: The study evaluates both social media channels using the same four-dimensional consumer-response framework within a food MSME context. Implications: Both channels can be used complementarily, with structured consumer interaction supported through Instagram and broader content reach supported through TikTok. Highlights: The two platforms recorded overall scores of 4.18 and 4.17. Communication reached 4.20 on one channel and 4.29 on the other. All four-dimensional scores fell within favorable classification ranges. Keywords: Promotional Effectiveness, Instagram, TikTok, EPIC Model, Food MSMEs
