Abstract

Job satisfaction is an individual's general attitude toward the work he or she does. A person with a high level of job satisfaction shows a positive attitude towards his or her job, while someone dissatisfied with his work shows a negative attitude towards his work. Nurses are the spearhead and have an important position in producing the quality of health services in hospitals because the services they provide are carried out for 24 hours continuously. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation on the job satisfaction of the managing nurse. This type of research is a non-experimental quantitative study with a descriptive approach (cross-sectional survey) and associative analysis, conducted at Royal Prima Marelan Hospital, March 2021. The study population of 377 people, determining the number of samples with the formula SEM (Structural Equation Modelling) was not obtained 100 samples. The sample determination technique used in this study is to use a purposive sampling approach. Bivariate analysis with Chi-Square test, and multivariate with multiple logistic regression with p-value (0.05). The results of the study that simultaneously, the variable Award (X1), Achievement (X2), Supervision (X3), Responsibility (X4), has an influence on the variable of job satisfaction with p-value < 0.05. While the variable Wage (X5), Work Environment (X6), Status (X7), with a p-value of > 0.05, does not affect the variable job satisfaction of the managing nurse at Royal Prima Marelan Hospital. The results of the multivariate analysis, that from independent variables namely Awards, Achievement, Supervision, Responsibility, which allegedly affect job satisfaction the most influential is the variable of responsibility with a p-value of 0.017 < 0.05. Finally, the OR value obtained is 7,516, meaning a high sense of responsibility, which has a 7,516 times chance of affecting the level of job satisfaction of employees at Royal Prima Marelan Hospital.

Abstract

Type II diabetes mellitus indicates the presence of chronic hyperglycemia and results from progressive failure of pancreatic β cells in which the amount of insulin is insufficient to meet metabolic demands and is characterized by peripheral insulin resistance and impaired insulin secretion. Turmeric (Curcuma longa Linn) has been widely researched and used for antioxidants, antivirals, anti-inflammatories, as well as its potential as a functional food for pancreatic-related diseases. The study's goal was to test the effectiveness of turmeric ethanol extract against pancreatic amylase enzymes in doxorubicin-induced Wistar mice (lowered fasting KGD, 2 hoursPP, HbA1C, in doxorubicin-induced male mice). This type of research is an experimental study, in early March 2021, conducted at the Laboratory of Pharmaceutical Pharmacology of the University of North Sumatra. The animals used in the study were male rats weighing 150–200g. The results in the treatment group iii treatment group (ethanol extract Curcuma longa 600g) had blood sugar levels of 74.2014 ± 3.78 mg/ml had a neggant difference (P<0.05) with the negative control group and did not have a significant difference (P>0.05) with the positive control group. Ethanol extract Curcuma longa doses of 200 mg/kg bb, 400 mg/kg bb, and 600 mg/kg bb had significantly different blood glucose levels decreased activity (P<0.05) with negative control groups given only CMC-Na and doxorubicin. Curcuma longa extract doses of 200 mg/kg bb, 400 mg/kg bb, and 600 mg/kg bb had significantly different hbA1c reduction activity (P<0.05) with negative control groups given only CMC-Na and doxorubicin. Advice, for researchers, can further do antidiabetic testing by looking at insulin expression after doxorubicin-induced and tested measurement of antioxidant levels such as GSH and Catalase.

Abstract

Cardiotoxicity is mostly due to the use of chemotherapy drugs, with the class of anthracyclines drugs being 86.8. One of the most commonly used anthracyclines is doxorubicin. Turmeric with the scientific name Curcuma longa linn is one of the medicinal plants, the main compound is curcumin is considered able to reduce the risk of heart attack. The goal of this study tested the cardioprotective effectiveness of turmeric ethanol extract (curcuma longa linn.) in doxorubicin-induced male wistar (rattus norvegicus) mice. This type of research is experimental, in the Pharmacology Laboratory of the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of North Sumatra, and November 2020. Animals experimented on male wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus) weighing 150 - 200 grams. Data analysis, if (P > 0.05), continued with One Way ANOVA, but if (P <.05) followed by the Tukey HSD Post Hoc test to see real differences between treatments. If the distributed data is abnormal then the Kruskal-Wallis test results are used. Statistical test results, serum levels of CK–MB in the normal group have significant differences (p<0.05) with the negative control treatment group and the treatment group I, but do not have a significant difference (p>0.05) with the positive control group, treatment group II and the treatment group III. Concluding that turmeric ethanol extract has the ability to lower levels of biomarkers of heart damage namely CK-MB and LDH induced with doxorubicin, gradually increasing doses of turmeric ethanol extract can reduce the incidence of heart cell damage, which is most effective at doses of EEK 500 mg / kg BB. Turmeric ethanol extract has cardioprotective effects induced with doxorubicin. Administration of turmeric ethanol extract can repair heart organ tissue induced with doxorubicin based on histological picture of the heart. It is hoped that researchers will be able to conduct research on the toxic effects of giving turmeric ethanol extract to the hearts of mice conducted subchronically.

Abstract

Environmental sanitation encompasses housing, sewage disposal, and clean water supply, all crucial to health. A healthy environment sustains the ecosystem, while a poor one leads to sanitation issues and disease spread. The STBM program in Indonesia aims to empower communities to reduce open defecation, though challenges in improving sanitation access persist. This study explores the factors influencing open defecation and provides recommendations for enhancing sanitation and environmental health. The research, conducted in Kampung Dalam Village, Bilah Hulu Sub-district, Labuhan Batu Regency, North Sumatra, began in January 2023. An initial survey found that 96 households lacked healthy latrines. The study used a quantitative cross-sectional design with a sample of 50 households, determined using the Lameshow formula and selected through Simple Random Sampling (SRS). Independent variables included knowledge, attitude, economic status, and facilities (healthy restrooms), while the dependent variable was open defecation behavior. Data collection involved questionnaires and direct interviews with respondents, analyzed using univariate and bivariate methods and the Chi-Square test with a 95% confidence level. The Chi-Square test results showed significant relationships between open defecation behavior and knowledge (p=0.019), attitude (p=0.001), economic status (p=0.009), and facilities (p=0.002) with p-values ≤ 0.05. The study concluded that while knowledge and attitude are linked to open defecation behavior, they do not always directly influence it, suggesting other factors like environment and facilities also play a role. Lower economic status was more often associated with open defecation, and better facilities and access contributed to reduced open defecation behavior.

Abstract

Abstract

Obesity is a growing global health concern, including in Indonesia. This study aimed to determine the relationship between obesity and age, sex, and physical inactivity. This study used secondary data from Puskesmas Johar Baru in Central Jakarta in 2021. The total initial data were 102,647 patients, the data eligible for sampling was 72,680 patients, and 22, 297 (24 %) patients were obese. Data processing was performed using SPSS 25 software, bivariate analysis (chi-square test), and multivariate analysis (multiple logistic regression with the enter method), at a significance level of 0.05. The Chi-Square test showed that age, sex, and lack of physical activity had a significant relationship with ob with (p ≤ 0.05). In multivariate analysis, the gender variable had the highest OR value of 12.925, where the majority of respondents who suffered from obesity were female, so they had a greater risk of suffering from obesity. These findings underscore the importance of sex variables in the context of obesity in Puskesmas Johar Baru and highlight the differences in obesity prevalence by age and sex. Middle-aged adults, especially women, are more prone to obesity, which is supported by a lack of physical activity.
