Abstract

Peanuts are one of the leading commodities of Nagari Tigo Balai, Matur District, Agam Regency, West Sumatra. Some people in Nagari Tigo Balai have processed peanuts into rendang peanuts and many still sell their raw peanuts directly from their harvest. The processed peanuts from Nagari Tigo Balai craftsmen are still packaged in ordinary packaging, namely using transparent plastic and makeshift labels. This activity aims to provide assistance to the peanut MSMEs of Nagari Tigo Balai to produce packaging according to the target market. This activity is carried out in several stages, namely socialization, packaging design, and assistance in the use of packaging. One of the productive peanut MSMEs in Nagari Tigo Balai is the LBM MSMEs. The assistance activity has produced three packaging designs, namely the PP standing pouch packaging design, the PP plastic packaging sticker label design, and the PP plastic packaging screen printing label design. The most suitable and needed packaging design for the rending peanut craftsmen of LBM MSME Nagari Tigo Balai is the sticker label on PP plastic packaging. The chosen design is consistent with the target market of rendang peanuts produced by LBM MSME Nagari Tigo Balai, which includes consignment system at souvenir outlets, direct sales in nearby markets, and distribution through local traders.

Abstract

Abstract

Introduction: The research aimed to investigate the correlation between health literacy levels, medication adherence, and quality of life among hemodialysis patients with chronic kidney disease. Methods: The research employed a cross-sectional design. A random sample of 164 hemodialysis patients from two hemodialysis facilities in Padang, Indonesia, was collected between May and June 2023. Inclusion criteria were patients undergoing hemodialysis twice a week and aged over 18 years. Patients who experienced a decrease in consciousness and memory disorders such as dementia were excluded from this study. The questionnaires used to measure variables in this study were the demographic data questionnaire, the HLS-EU-Q16 health literacy questionnaire, the MMAS-8 medication adherence questionnaire, and the KDQOL-36 quality of life questionnaire for chronic kidney disease patients. Results: The high health literacy group (N = 73) exhibited a markedly superior quality of life compared to those in the mid-level (N = 48) and low-level (N = 43) health literacy groups. Multiple regression analysis revealed that, of the three components of health literacy, health promotion has the greatest influence on patients' quality of life, contributing 25.1%, while the aspect of healthcare has the greatest influence on medication adherence, contributing 43.3%. Conclusions: Health literacy is essential in improving medication adherence and the patient's quality of life in a more optimal direction. Healthcare professionals should create plans for tailored and customized health information with the goal of providing patients with the knowledge about critical components they need to manage chronic kidney disease.

Abstract

Nurses at public health centers play a crucial role in mitigating the impact of disasters, but their preparedness for handling emergency situations is often not optimal. In Padang City, a study was conducted to assess the level of preparedness among nurses in disaster management. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected from 138 nurses working in 24 public health centers through a stratified random sampling method. The results showed that 58% of the nurses had a high level of preparedness. More specifically, 58% had good knowledge of disaster management, 74.6% displayed a positive attitude, and 68.8% practiced good disaster management techniques. These findings indicate that public health center nurses in Padang City are generally well-prepared in terms of knowledge, attitude, and practice. However, further improvement is still needed. Increasing the number of trained nurses and providing regular disaster management training are recommended to enhance preparedness in disaster response.

Abstract

Genetic factors play an essential role in causing breast cancer, especially in children who have mothers with breast cancer. Such children possess a two times greater chance of suffering breast cancer. Rarely did studies use qualitative methods to explore the experience of children from mothers diagnosed with cancer in cancer awareness and prevention. Therefore, this research used qualitative research by means of a phenomenological approach. Interviews were conducted for 15 days by means of a purposive sampling data collection technique. Data were taken from in-depth interviews with women at risk of breast cancer, whose mothers were diagnosed with breast cancer. At the end of data collection, data saturation occurred for the 10th participant. After the data was analyzed using the Collaizi technique, it was extracted, then it was classified into 3 themes as follows: 1) Lack of knowledge in recognizing signs and symptoms of breast cancer, 2) The positive role of husband's support, 3) Anxiety in early detection of breast cancer. This research emphasizes the importance of a woman who is at risk of breast cancer from her mother getting counselling and health education about cancer awareness by reflecting on her mother diagnosed with breast cancer. It is proved that educating the husband probably affects the prevention of breast cancer.

The instruments used in this study included a demographic questionnaire, the Spiritual Well-Being Scale, and the kidney disease and Quality of Life-36 questionnaire. Data were processed using descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation tests. The results indicated an average score of 97.39±8.32 for spiritual well-being, which falls within the moderate category, while quality of life was also in the moderate category with an average score of 48.05±7.90. A significant positive correlation with moderate strength was found between spiritual well-being and quality of life in patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis (p=0.000; r=0.417). It is recommended that nurses provide education and interventions such as writing therapy and involve the patients' families in the care process to provide emotional support, thereby improving spiritual well-being and quality of life in patients undergoing hemodialysis.
