Abstract

This study aimed to describe how the application of Photovoice-Based Board Games increased students' confidence and engagement in speaking English. The background of this research stemmed from the issue of Indonesian students’ low confidence in speaking English in class, which was caused by anxiety, limited vocabulary, and teacher-centered learning methods. The study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation and interviews with a group of high school students in Kalimantan who participated in Photovoice-based learning activities and board games. The findings indicated that these activities enhanced student engagement by fostering a fun and collaborative learning atmosphere. They also boosted students’ confidence in speaking through visual reflection and social support within the classroom. However, several challenges remained, such as limited vocabulary and difficulty in organizing ideas. Overall, Photovoice-Based Board Games proved to be a practical and innovative approach to developing EFL students’ speaking skills in a pressure-free and meaningful learning environment.

Abstract

This research is focused to use a picture as a media to teach descriptive text to VIII graders at SMPN 4 Palangka Raya. This media aims to build the will of students to learn and help them to understand descriptive text, since English is hard subject to teach. Interesting media to attract students’ attention in teaching learning process is important, especially many students in SMPN 4 Palangka Raya find that English subject is hard and boring, they immediately lazy to study even just by listen to name of the subject, shows how essential to build a good atmosphere in the class. This research determined how using pictures as a media improve students in learning descriptive text. This research used one group pre-test and post-test pre-experimental design. This research instrument was a test and VIII grade students in SMPN 4 Palangka Raya as a subject. The mean score formula was implemented in this research to analyzing the data. The results showed that picture as a learning media is indeed affects students learning outcomes in terms of descriptive text. Researcher founds that picture as a media help teacher to increase students’ enthusiasm in learning, since it attracted students’ attention and make teaching learning process more interesting.

Abstract

Program Kemitraan Masyarakat (PKM) ini bertujuan untuk memberdayakan pelaku usaha jamu tradisional di Kelurahan Wonolopo, Kota Semarang, melalui penguatan manajemen keuangan dan pemasaran usaha guna mendukung keberlanjutan ekonomi. Kegiatan dilaksanakan pada September hingga Desember 2025 dengan pendekatan partisipatif yang meliputi identifikasi kebutuhan mitra, penyusunan modul, pelatihan, pendampingan, serta monitoring dan evaluasi. Metode evaluasi dilakukan secara kuantitatif melalui pengukuran kompetensi mitra sebelum dan sesudah kegiatan (pre-test dan post-test). Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan pada kompetensi mitra dalam pengelolaan keuangan usaha, khususnya dalam pencatatan keuangan dan perhitungan biaya serta laba, serta peningkatan pemahaman dan praktik pemasaran produk jamu melalui perbaikan kemasan dan pemanfaatan media digital. Mitra menunjukkan respons positif dan komitmen untuk menerapkan praktik manajemen usaha secara berkelanjutan. Program ini membuktikan bahwa pendekatan pelatihan yang dikombinasikan dengan pendampingan efektif dalam meningkatkan kapasitas dan daya saing usaha jamu tradisional, serta berpotensi direplikasi pada UMKM berbasis kearifan lokal lainnya.
