Abstract

The use of natural ingredients in skincare products is increasingly being developed due to their perceived safety and environmental friendliness compared to synthetic chemicals. Cassava leaves (Manihot esculenta Crantz) contain flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and triterpenoids, which function as natural antioxidants. These compounds help protect the skin from free radicals and maintain skin health. Meanwhile, grape seed oil (Vitis vinifera L.) is rich in linoleic acid, which acts as a natural moisturizer and helps maintain the function of the skin’s epidermal barrier. The combination of these two ingredients has the potential to produce high-quality liquid soap. This study aims to optimize the liquid soap formulation using cassava leaf extract and grape seed oil through the Simplex Lattice Design (SLD) method. The research was conducted by designing five formulations with varying concentrations, followed by evaluation based on physical parameters such as organoleptic properties, homogeneity, pH, foam height, viscosity, and formulation stability. The results showed that increasing the concentration of cassava leaf extract raised the viscosity, while grape seed oil tended to reduce foam height. The optimal formula was obtained using Design Expert software with a desirability value of 1.000, and predicted values of pH 8.33, foam height of 147 mm, and viscosity of 663 cPs. Verification results confirmed the agreement between predicted and actual values. It can be concluded that the combination of cassava leaf extract and grape seed oil can produce a stable, high-quality liquid soap formulation that meets physical quality standards

Abstract

Hair dye is a cosmetic product used in hair care to restore the original color, cover the hair color, or create a new color. Purple tuber extract can be used as a natural dye because it contains anthocyanin pigments. This study aims to formulate and evaluate hair dye gel preparations from purple tuber extract in various concentrations, as well as to determine the optimum concentration to provide the best coloring results. Purple tuber extract is obtained through the maceration method. The gel is formulated in three variations of extract concentration, namely 5% (F1), 10% (F2), and 15% (F3), with a gel base. Evaluation of the preparation includes organoleptic tests, pH, homogeneity, viscosity, adhesion, spreadability, color stability test against sunlight and color stability test against washing. The results show that all formulas are stable and homogeneous. The pH is within the safe range for the scalp, namely pH 6. The viscosities are F1 = 8,600 cPs, F2 = 9,400 cPs, F3 = 10,100 cPs, respectively. The adhesive power of F1 = 1.83 seconds, F2 = 2.42 seconds, F3 = 3.01 seconds. The spread power of F1 = 6.5 cm, F2 = 5.3 cm, F3 = 4.7 cm. The coloring results show that F15% gives a brownish red color, F2 5% produces an even and intense purplish red color, and F3 10% is reddish purple. The F3 formula (10%) is the best formula because it produces the most optimal color, namely purplish red (Claret Violet) with stable physical characteristics.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by elevated blood glucose levels due to impaired insulin production. Natural remedies, such as soursop leaves (Annona muricata) (SL) and garlic (Allium sativum) (GAR), are known for their antihyperglycemic properties. This study aimed to investigate the effects of SL and GAR extracts, individually and in combination, on reducing blood glucose levels in alloxan-induced diabetic rats. A total of 24 male Wistar rats were divided into six groups, receiving treatments of either metformin, SL, GAR, or their combination for seven days following alloxan administration to induce hyperglycemia. Blood glucose levels were measured before and after induction, and post-treatment on day 15. The results showed that the combined extracts exhibited better antihyperglycemic activity compared to individual treatments, with the most effective dose being 26.3 mg/kg BW SL + 31.5 mg/kg BW GAR.

Abstract

Caffeine, a natural psychostimulant, enhances arousal by inhibiting the effects of adenosine on the dopamine pathway. This study aimed to analyze and compare caffeine concentrations in seven robusta coffee samples (coded RC) and five black tea bags (coded BT) using both qualitative and quantitative methods. Qualitative tests employed Dragendorff reagents for coffee and Parry reagents for tea, confirming caffeine presence through colorimetric changes. Quantitative analysis utilized reverse-phase UHPLC, with a mobile phase of aquabidestilata and methanol (60:40), a C18 stationary phase at 40°C, and detection at 272 nm. Validation parameters demonstrated strong performance, with an RSD of 0.573%, a linear correlation coefficient of 0.998 for concentrations between 100–250 ppm, a LoD of 1.02 ppm, a LoQ of 3.10 ppm, and 99.88% accuracy. Results showed robusta coffee sample RC3 contained the highest caffeine concentration at 26.00 mg/serving, while black tea sample BTB3 exhibited 2.44 mg/serving. Despite higher caffeine levels in robusta coffee compared to black tea, both remained below the SNI threshold of 50 mg/serving, confirming their safety for consumption.

Abstract

Candida infection caused by Candida albicans is a common health problem, especially in the skin and female reproductive organs. In Indonesia, the prevalence of candidiasis is around 20–25%, with a predominance in the hair, skin, mucous membranes, mouth, and esophagus. In Lampung Province, candidiasis incidents include severe intertrigo (56%), mild intertrigo (44%), axillary candidiasis (52%), and breast candidiasis (20%). This study aimed to evaluate the antifungal activity of a combination of garlic bulb (Allium sativum L.) and red betel leaf (Piper ornatum N.E.Br) extracts against the growth of Candida albicans. This study used a laboratory experimental method with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD), consisting of a negative control (distilled water), a positive control (fluconazole), and a combination of extracts with a ratio of 20%:20%, 20%:40%, and 40%:40%. The extract was obtained through maceration method, and antifungal activity was measured based on the inhibition zone. Phytochemical tests showed the presence of active compounds such as saponins, flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, and steroids that act as antifungals. The results of the disc diffusion test showed the average diameter of the inhibition zone as follows: 0 mm (negative control), 6.49 ± 1.05 mm (positive control), 2.9 ± 0.26 mm (P1, weak), 4.15 ± 1.57 mm (P2, weak), 5.68 ± 2.73 mm (P3, moderate), and 6.81 ± 1.92 mm (P4, moderate). Statistical tests showed significant differences between negative and positive controls and treatments 2 and 3. In conclusion, the combination of garlic and red betel leaf extract, especially P4, has antifungal potential against Candida albicans.

Abstract

Penyakit infeksi merupakan masalah kesehatan global yang dapat menyebabkan kematian terutama pada anak-anak. Penyebab infeksi diakibatkan oleh mikroba patogen seperti bakteri, virus, jamur dan parasit. Penelitian bertujuan untuk melihat aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak kombinasi bawang putih dan daun pandan wangi terhadap bakteri Salmonella typhi. Penelitian dilakukan menggunakan metode difusi cakram dengan berbagai kombinasi bawang putih dan daun pandan wangi (80%:20%, 50%:50%, 20%:80%), kontrol positif (ciprofloxacin), dan kontrol negatif (aquadest) menggunakan desain (RAL) yaitu rancangan acak lengkap dengan menghitung rumus pengulangan pada 5 kali perlakuan. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan program SPSS. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa terdapat rata – rata diameter hambat secara berturut – turut yaitu 9,39 mm, 7,15 mm, 4,76 mm, 20,33 mm, 0 mm. Konsentrasi terbaik dari kombinasi ekstrak bawang putih dan daun pandan wangi dalam menghambat pertumbuhan Salmonella typhi adalah pada konsentrasi 80%:20%. Hasil skrining dari kedua ekstrak menunjukan positif saponin, alkaloid, tanin, dan flavonoid. Hasil analisis data yang diperoleh adalah (0,389) menunjukan bahwa tidak terdapat perbedaan bermakna, karena hasil yang didapatkan (>0,05), artinya tidak ada aktivitas antibakteri yang signifikan dari kombinasi tersebut terhadap bakteri Salmonella typhi. Penelitian ini tidak memiliki perbedaan bermakna dalam pertumbuhan bakteri antara kelompok kontrol positif, negatif, serta kelompok perlakuan. Berdasarkan hal tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa kombinasi ekstrak bawang putih dan daun pandan wangi memiliki aktivitas antibakteri terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri Salmonella typhi serta konsentrasi terbaik dari kombinasi ekstrak bawang putih dan daun pandan wangi dalam menghambat pertumbuhan Salmonella typhi terdapat pada konsentrasi 80%:20%.

Abstract

Daun pepaya (Carica papaya L.) mengandung senyawa aktif seperti flavonoid, alkaloid, tanin, dan vitamin C yang berfungsi sebagai antioksidan. Antioksidan sendiri berperan penting dalam menetralisir radikal bebas yang dapat merusak jaringan kulit serta dapat mempercepat proses penuaan. Dalam sediaan sabun cair, penambahan bahan alami yang bersifat antioksidan tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai pembersih, tetapi juga dapat memberikan manfaat protektif terhadap kulit dari efek buruk lingkungan, seperti polusi dan paparan sinar UV. Oleh karena itu, formulasi sabun cair yang mengandung ekstrak daun pepaya (Carica papaya L.) berpotensi sebagai sediaan fungsional yang mendukung kesehatan kulit sekaligus memberikan efek perawatan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui formula sabun cair ekstrak daun pepaya yang memiliki aktivitas antioksidan terbaik berdasarkan nilai IC₅₀ menggunakan metode DPPH. Penelitian eksperimental ini memformulasikan sediaan sabun cair dengan variasi konsentrasi ekstrak daun pepaya sebesar 6%, 8%, 10%, dan 12%. Evaluasi dilakukan terhadap parameter organoleptik, pH, tinggi busa, viskositas, homogenitas, stabilitas, dan aktivitas antioksidan menggunakan metode DPPH, yang dibaca pada spektrofotometer UV-Vis. Formula dengan konsentrasi ekstrak 10% (F3) menunjukkan nilai IC₅₀ sebesar 103,89 ppm, yang tergolong aktivitas antioksidan sedang. Formula F3 dinyatakan sebagai formula terbaik berdasarkan aktivitas antioksidannya karena memiliki nilai IC₅₀ yang paling rendah, sehingga menunjukkan potensi antioksidan yang lebih kuat dibandingkan dengan formula lainnya. Kata kunci : Daun pepaya, sabun cair, antioksidan, DPPH, IC₅₀.   ABSTRACT Papaya leaf (Carica papaya L.) contain active compounds such as flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, and vitamin C, which act as antioxidants. Antioxidants play an important role in neutralizing free radicals that can damage skin tissues and accelerate the aging process. In liquid soap formulations, the addition of natural antioxidant ingredients not only functions as a cleanser but also provides protective benefits to the skin against harmful environmental effects such as pollution and UV exposure. Therefore, liquid soap formulated with papaya leaf extract (Carica papaya L.) has the potential to serve as a functional product that supports skin health while offering skincare benefits. This study aimed to determine the best liquid soap formulation containing papaya leaf extract with the highest antioxidant activity based on the IC₅₀ value using the DPPH method. This experimental research formulated liquid soap with varying concentrations of papaya leaf extract at 6%, 8%, 10%, and 12%. Evaluations were carried out on organoleptic parameters, pH, foam height, viscosity, homogeneity, stability, and antioxidant activity using the DPPH method, measured with a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The formulation with 10% extract concentration (F3) showed an IC₅₀ value of 103.89 ppm, classified as moderate antioxidant activity. F3 was identified as the best formulation based on its antioxidant activity, as it had the lowest IC₅₀ value, indicating stronger antioxidant potential compared to the other formulations.

Abstract

Lingkaran hitam di bawah mata (hiperpigmentasi periorbital) merupakan masalah kulit yang umum dan sering diatasi dengan penggunaan eye cream. Bahan alami seperti buah tomat (Solanum lycopersicum L) yang kaya likopen dan vitamin c, serta madu (Mel depuratum) yang memiliki sifat humektan dan antioksidan, berpotensi menjadi kombinasi bahan aktif dalam formulasi eye cream yang efektif dan aman. Penelitian ini bertujuan memformulasikan eye cream dengan variasi konsentrasi kombinasi ekstrak tomat dan madu menggunakan metode Simplex Lattice Design (SLD), serta menentukan formula optimal berdasarkan mutu fisik dan stabilitas sediaan. Variabel yang diuji meliputi organoleptis, homogenitas, pH, daya lekat, daya sebar, viskositas dan stabilitas. Penelitian ini di lakukan di Laboratorium Farmasetika Universitas Aisyah Pringsewu dan laboratorium Bahan Alam Universitas Aisyah Pringsewu pada bulan Juli-Agustus 2025. Hasil analisis pada penelitian ini membuat 6 fomulasi eye cream dengan konsentrasi ekstrak tomat dan madu 2,5:4,5 (F1), 2:5 (F2), 1:6 (F3), 1,5:5,5 (F4) dan 3:4 (F5). Dari penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa formula optimal eye cream ekstrak tomat (Solanum lycoperscum L) dan madu (Mel depuratum) dapat diperoleh ekstrak tomat 1% dan madu 6% menggunakan metode SLD dengan nilai optimal.

Abstract

Garlic (Allium sativum L.) and Avocado Leaves (Persea Americana M.) are plants that have antibacterial activity due to the presence of secondary metabolite compounds. The aim of this study is to determine the antibacterial activity of the combination extract of Garlic and Avocado Leaves against Escherichia coli bacteria and to identify the groups of active compounds contained in the extracts of Garlic and Avocado Leaves. Antibacterial activity testing was carried out using the disk diffusion method. Garlic and Avocado Leaves were extracted using 96% ethanol solvent through the maceration method. The formula for the combination extract of Garlic and Avocado Leaves was in the concentrations of 25%:75%, 50%:50%, and 75%:25%. Identification of secondary metabolite compounds was conducted using reagents. The results showed that the extract of Garlic at a concentration of 50%:50% has the activity to inhibit Escherichia coli bacteria with the largest inhibition zone diameter of 18.91 mm, categorized as strong. Identification of secondary metabolite compounds with garlic extract and avocado leaves tested positive for alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, and tannins. The conclusion of this study is that the best combination of extracts is found in garlic extract and avocado leaves, with an inhibition zone diameter of 18.91 mm, which falls into the strong category. Both garlic extract and avocado leaves have a significant influence on the inhibition zone diameter produced by the combined extract.

Abstract

Pelayanan kefarmasian merupakan bagian penting dari pelayanan kesehatan yang berorientasi pada pasien. Kepuasan pasien menjadi faktor krusial bagi keberlangsungan apotek, karena pelayanan yang memuaskan mendorong konsumen untuk kembali dan menjadi pelanggan tetap. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat kepuasan pengunjung terhadap pelayanan di Apotek Batam Sukoharjo berdasarkan lima dimensi SERVQUAL, yaitu tangible, reliability, empathy, assurance, dan responsiveness. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif deskriptif dengan teknik purposive sampling, sedangkan jumlah sampel ditentukan melalui perhitungan Lemeshow. Instrumen penelitian berupa kuesioner yang telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat kepuasan pengunjung berada pada kategori sangat tinggi pada semua dimensi. Dimensi reliability memperoleh nilai tertinggi sebesar 96,75%, diikuti tangible 96,70%, assurance 92,10%, empathy 91,58%, dan responsiveness 90,80%. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa pelayanan apotek secara keseluruhan telah dilaksanakan dengan baik, terutama dalam hal keandalan petugas dan kondisi fisik apotek. Namun, aspek empathy dan responsiveness meskipun masih dalam kategori sangat puas, menunjukkan nilai relatif lebih rendah sehingga perlu menjadi perhatian utama untuk ditingkatkan. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini bahwa Apotek Batam Sukoharjo telah mampu memberikan pelayanan yang profesional, cepat, dan ramah, serta menjamin ketersediaan obat yang memadai, namun tetap diperlukan peningkatan pada kualitas komunikasi interpersonal dan kecepatan pelayanan guna memperkuat kepuasan konsumen.
