Abstract

This study addresses the issue of low learning outcomes and student disengagement in fourth-grade social studies, where traditional teaching methods fail to capture student interest, resulting in passive participation. The aim was to assess the impact of video learning media on students' cognitive learning outcomes. Employing a quantitative experimental approach with a one-group pretest-posttest design and saturated sampling, data were collected via pretests and posttests. Findings indicated a significant improvement in cognitive learning outcomes post-intervention with video media. The study concludes that video-based learning media, incorporating local wisdom, effectively enhances cognitive learning outcomes in fourth-grade social studies students.

Abstract

This study aims to develop gender-responsive literacy modules to improve the competencies of students in the Primary School Teacher Education Program (PGSD) at Muhammadiyah University Sidoarjo. The problem identified is the low literacy skills of students, which are influenced by the lack of learning modules that integrate principles of gender equity and sensitivity. Additionally, gender-based literacy achievement gaps due to social stereotypes pose a significant challenge in the learning process. The research method employed is Design-Based Research (DBR) with an iterative and collaborative approach between researchers and education practitioners. Data collection was conducted through pretest-posttest assessments, attitude and perception questionnaires, observations, and interviews to evaluate the effectiveness and validity of the modules during the implementation process. Quantitative data analysis used descriptive statistics, while qualitative data was analyzed thematically. The results of the study indicate that the gender-responsive literacy module developed is able to meet academic standards and the learning needs of students in an inclusive manner. The level of acceptance of the module in terms of usage, content, and response achieved scores between 86% and 97%, which is considered very good. The module also successfully instilled critical awareness of gender issues in literacy learning and supported the development of adaptive and equitable literacy skills for all PGSD students. This study recommends expanding the scope of the module and providing ongoing training for teachers so that gender-responsive principles can be optimally applied in basic education.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of the implementation of audio-visual learning media on the ability to write narratives of grade IV students at Bligo State Elementary School. The method used is quantitative with a pre-experimental research design of One Group Pretest-Posttest Design type. The sample of this study was all fourth grade students as many as 28 students. The instrument used was a narrative writing test based on six assessment indicators. The results showed that the average posttest score increased compared to the pretest, with the t-test results showing a significance of 0.000 (<0.05) and an eta squared value of 0.991 which showed a very strong influence. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of audio-visual learning media is effective in improving students' narrative writing skills. The use of this media can be used as an alternative to create a more interesting and interactive learning atmosphere.

Abstract

General Background: The Pancasila student profile is a crucial element designed to foster desired competencies and strengthen students' internal understanding of diversity in the Indonesian education system. Specific Background: The P5 project reinforces the application of this profile throughout the learning process. Knowledge Gap: While P5 is widely implemented, there is a need to understand how these learning activities specifically affect students' social-emotional intelligence. Aims: This research aims to determine the effectiveness of P5 learning activities and their impact on students' social-emotional intelligence. Using a descriptive qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, data were collected through interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. Results: The P5 learning, as delivered by the teacher, was well-executed and aligned with the teaching module. However, the program did not yield results that met the criteria for social-emotional intelligence. Novelty & Implications: This finding highlights a discrepancy between the implementation of P5 and its intended social-emotional outcomes, suggesting that while the program is well-structured, its practical application may not be fully optimized to develop students' social-emotional skills. Highlights : P5 implementation at SDN Candipari 1 was well-executed and aligned with the teaching module. The P5 learning activities did not produce results consistent with the criteria for social-emotional intelligence. The research used a descriptive qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, gathering data through interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. Abstract

Objective: This study aims to improve the cultural and civic literacy of grade V students through the implementation of educational poster projects as contextual and interesting learning media. The background of this study is the low level of cultural and civic literacy of students, as identified from the initial test results in class V of SDN Krian 2. Most students showed a low understanding of cultural and civic values, which was allegedly caused by the lack of connection between the material and meaningful learning activities. Method: This study used the Kurt Lewin model of Classroom Action Research (PTK) method implemented in two cycles, with the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 29 fifth grade students. The instrument used was a test to measure the level of cultural and civic literacy before and after the implementation of the action. Result: The results showed a significant increase, from 55.5% in the pre-cycle (poor category), to 78.5% after Cycle I, and increased again to 86% in Cycle II (good category).  Novelty: The novelty in this study lies in the use of educational poster media as a project-based learning approach that is able to improve cultural and civic literacy in grade V students.
