Abstract

This study was motivated by the low problem-solving skills of students, which were caused by the use of conventional learning models that were ineffective and the lack of innovative learning media. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the problem-based learning model assisted by digital worksheets on the problem-solving skills of ninth-grade students at SMPN 19 Mataram in the 2025/2026 academic year. This study was a quasi-experimental design with a posttest-only control design. The sampling technique used in this study is purposive sampling. The sample in this study consisted of students in class IX A as the experimental class who received treatment using the PBL model assisted by digital worksheets and students in class IX D as the control class who used the conventional model. The calculation results showed that the average score of the experimental class (78.25) was higher than that of the control class (60.61). Then, the results of the independent sample t-test with a significance of 5% obtained a sig. value (2-tailed) = 0.001 < 0.05. Furthermore, the value . The effect size test results showed a value of 1.344, which, based on the criteria, has a high effect. Therefore, the application of the PBL model assisted by digital LKPD is able to increase students' active involvement in constructing knowledge to solve problems. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of the PBL model assisted by digital worksheets is effective in improving the problem-solving skills of ninth-grade students at SMPN 19 Mataram in the 2025/2026 academic year.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa ditinjau dari adversity quotient. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian deskriptif. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa yang dikelompokkan berdasarkan kategori adversity quotient, yaitu tinggi, sedang, dan rendah. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui angket adversity quotient, tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis, serta wawancara untuk memperkuat hasil analisis. Data dianalisis melalui tahapan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Indikator kemampuan pemecahan masalah mengacu pada langkah memahami masalah, merencanakan penyelesaian, melaksanakan penyelesaian, dan memeriksa kembali hasil. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa dengan adversity quotient tinggi memiliki kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis yang lebih baik karena mampu memenuhi hampir seluruh indikator secara sistematis dan tepat. Siswa dengan adversity quotient sedang mampu memenuhi sebagian besar indikator, namun masih mengalami kesulitan pada tahap pelaksanaan dan pemeriksaan kembali. Sementara itu, siswa dengan adversity quotient rendah cenderung mengalami kesulitan pada hampir seluruh tahapan pemecahan masalah. Dengan demikian, adversity quotient berperan dalam membedakan kemampuan siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah matematis. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi bahan pertimbangan bagi guru dalam merancang pembelajaran yang mendukung ketahanan siswa dalam menghadapi tantangan matematika. Analysis of Students’ Mathematical Problem-Solving Ability in Terms of Adversity Quotient This study aims to analyze students’ mathematical problem-solving ability in terms of adversity quotient. The study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The research subjects were students classified into three categories of adversity quotient, namely high, moderate, and low. Data were collected through an adversity quotient questionnaire, a mathematical problem-solving test, and interviews to strengthen the analysis results. The data were analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The indicators of problem-solving ability referred to the steps of understanding the problem, planning the solution, carrying out the solution, and rechecking the result. The findings showed that students with a high adversity quotient had better mathematical problem-solving ability because they were able to fulfill almost all indicators systematically and accurately. Students with a moderate adversity quotient were able to meet most of the indicators, but they still experienced difficulties at the stages of carrying out the solution and rechecking the result. Meanwhile, students with a low adversity quotient tended to experience difficulties in almost all stages of problem solving. Thus, adversity quotient plays a role in differentiating students’ ability to solve mathematical problems. The results of this study are expected to serve as a consideration for teachers in designing learning that supports students’ resilience in facing mathematical challenges.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a local culture-based problem-posing test on linear programming material for eleventh-grade high school students and determine the content validity of the developed test based on expert judgment. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the Four-D (4D) model. The developed test was designed to measure students’ abilities in three types of problem-posing activities: pre-solution posing, within-solution posing, and post-solution posing, by integrating local cultural contexts such as economic and agricultural activities around the Sembalun area of Mount Rinjani. The validation was conducted by two mathematics education experts and one local culture expert. The results showed that the developed test achieved a high level of content validity with an average score of 3.75, categorized as very valid. Therefore, the local culture-based problem-posing test developed in this study is considered feasible and valid to be used in assessing students’ abilities to formulate, develop, and solve contextual mathematical problems.

Abstract

Mathematical problem-solving ability is a directed thinking process that students do to solve mathematical problems. This study aims to describe the mathematical problem-solving abilities of tenth-grade students at SMAIT Anak Sholeh on the topic of sequences and series, viewed from their initial ability levels (high, medium, and low). A descriptive qualitative research method was employed. Data were collected through written tests to measure initial and problem-solving abilities, and interviews to confirm student responses. The data analysis focused on the four problem-solving stages according to Polya: understanding the problem, devising a plan, carrying out the plan, and looking back. The results show a relationship between initial ability and mathematical problem-solving ability. It was found that students with high initial ability tend to have high problem-solving skills, enabling them to master all four of Polya's stages well. Students with medium ability generally faced obstacles at the planning stage, such as selecting incorrect strategies or formulas. Meanwhile, students with low ability exhibited weaknesses at every Polya's stages, starting from a poor ability to understand the problem through to re-checking the results. This study concludes that initial ability influences every stage of a student's mathematical problem-solving process, making the strengthening of initial ability an important factor to be considered for improving the quality of mathematics learning ability and students' problem-solving skills.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether or not there is an influence of PBL on the numeracy skills of class VII students of SMP Negeri 4 Mataram on statistics material in the 2024/2025 academic year and to describe the greatest contribution of PBL in improving numeracy skills. This study was motivated by the low numeracy skills of students, which were caused by the use of conventional learning models that were less effective, so that innovative learning strategies were needed according to student needs. This study uses a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method. The research design used was a pre-test post-test control group design. The subjects in this study were students in class VII-3 as an experimental class with 32 students and class VII-5 with 31 students as a control class. The data collection technique used a numeracy ability test given before and after treatment. Then the data obtained were analyzed using the Ancova test. The results showed that there was an influence of the PBL learning model, the average posttest score in the experimental class reached 77.2, while in the control class it was 67.5 which was significantly different. This means that there is an influence of the PBL model on the numeracy skills of class VII students of SMPN 4 Mataram which consists of 3 indicators, namely 1) Use of numbers and symbols, 2) Data analysis, 3) Interpretation of analysis results.

Abstract

Mathematical proof is an essential competency for prospective mathematics teachers because it is closely related to reasoning and mathematical thinking skills. This study aimed to describe the profile of students' mathematical thinking errors based on Mason's thinking stages, namely entry, attack, and review, in proving mathematical principles on geometric vector topics. A quantitative descriptive approach was employed involving 44 sixth-semester Mathematics Education students. Data were collected through an essay-based mathematical proof test and analyzed using an error analysis rubric based on Mason's thinking stages. Descriptive statistics were used to calculate the frequency and percentage of errors at each stage. The results revealed that the percentages of errors at the entry, attack, and review stages were 18%, 70%, and 82%, respectively. Errors at the entry stage were mainly related to incomplete identification of given information and incorrect mathematical notation, whereas attack stage errors involved difficulties in constructing proof strategies and understanding the angle between vectors. At the review stage, students failed to verify the validity of their proofs and formulate appropriate conclusions. In conclusion, students' mathematical thinking errors were predominantly found at the attack and review stages.

Abstract

Difficult integral problems that cannot be solved analytically often require numerical approaches. PHP (Perl Hypertexr Prepocessor) programming has become one of the tools that can be used to solve numerical problems. This research aims to develop a numerical integration program using the Simpson 3/8 method and Romberg method on polynomial, exponential, and trigonometric functions with PHP programming, as well as to compare the efficiency of both methods based on relative error and execution time. Based on the implementation of the algorithms of both methods in PHP programming, the research results show that the average error for the Simpson 3/8 method and Romberg method are 0,013787% and 0,001356%, respectively. The comparison of errors between these two methods indicates that the Romberg method is 9,89% more accurate than the Simpson 3/8 method. However, in terms of program execution time, the Simpson 3/8 method requires less time compared to the Romberg method. The average execution time for the Simpson 3/8 method and Romberg method are 0,00117 seconds and 1,77811 seconds, respectively, and the comparison of execution time between these two methods shows that the Simpson 3/8 method is shorter than the Romberg method when using the same number of iterations.

Abstract

Numeracy has become one of the Indonesian government’s priority programs to improve the quality of the national education report. In 2024, the education report of SDN 2 Suela indicated that student numeracy skills required significant improvement. Interviews with teachers at the school revealed that they face challenges in implementing numeracy within the local context and still lack a deep understanding of numeracy concepts. To address this issue, a workshop was conducted to strengthen teachers’ understanding and implementation of numeracy through conceptual reinforcement, lesson planning, and classroom practices. The methods included: (a) introducing the cultural context of the Sasak community and Rinjani Geopark as potential resources for numeracy learning, (b) training teachers on strengthening numeracy concepts and classroom implementation, and (c) utilizing a numeracy module developed by the community service team to be implemented and adapted in classroom learning. The participants’ responses were highly positive, as evidenced by their commitment to continue using the module while making necessary preparations to ensure its effective application.

Abstract

Digital literacy has become an essential competency for teachers in developing innovative and interactive learning media. However, many mathematics teachers still face challenges in utilizing digital technology effectively for instructional purposes. This community service program aimed to enhance the digital literacy of mathematics teachers through training on the use of Articulate Storyline for developing interactive learning media. The program was conducted at SMPN 1 Sekotong and involved 14 junior high school mathematics teachers who are members of the MGMP Mathematics of West Lombok Regency. The implementation stages included needs analysis, material presentation, demonstrations, hands-on practice, mentoring, and evaluation. The training materials covered digital literacy concepts, the features of Articulate Storyline, and techniques for developing mathematics learning media that integrate multimedia elements and interactive quizzes. Evaluation was conducted through pretests and posttests to measure participants’ improvement in understanding. The results indicated that the training successfully enhanced participants’ competencies in utilizing digital technology for mathematics instruction. Based on the evaluation results, participants’ understanding increased by 4.06% from the pretest to the posttest. Furthermore, all participants successfully developed interactive learning media that could be implemented in classroom learning. The high level of participation and engagement demonstrated that the training was relevant to teachers’ professional needs. This program contributed positively to improving mathematics teachers’ digital literacy and professional competence while supporting the implementation of more effective, creative, and student-centered learning practices.
