Abstract

The Double–Spotted Gecko (Gekko monarchus) is one of the reptiles on the list of wild animals given an annual utilization quota for their capture in the wild. Bengkulu Province, as one of the distribution place of G. monarchus does not yet have data on its population. The research was conducted on 13 November to 2 December 2021, using two methods: interviews with the community and a Visual Encountered Survey at night. The research area in the five districts is 61.49 ha, the number of houses visited is 433, and the number of people interviewed is 386. The number of geckos counted in the interviews was 315, while from direct observation, there were 275. Geckos were most found at house and dominated (41.2%) by hiding between wooden walls. Based on the results of extrapolation calculations, the population estimates for the Double–Spotted Gecko are North Bengkulu 43,720–54,427 individuals; Mukomuko 32,997–51,810 tails; Central Bengkulu 6,248–9,187 individuals; Total 39,883–72,720 individuals; and South Bengkulu 11,469–11,592 individuals.

Abstract

Background: A BSF maggot (Hermetia illucens) is an organism that can live in waste media because maggots eat and decompose organic materials or waste for their growth. One innovative way to break down several types of organic waste, including vegetable waste, is to use maggots. This research aimed to analyze the effect of vegetable waste feed on maggots’ mass, length, thickness, and protein content. Methods: This research experimented with a completely randomized design (CRD) with five treatments, three repetitions of each treatment with various feed varieties. Analysis of maggot protein levels using the Automatic Kjeldahl method. The parameters measured were the maggot’s mass, length, thickness, and protein content. The variable in this research is the experimental variable for maggot samples with variations in the types of cabbage and mustard greens waste food. The number of samples used was 30 samples for each treatment. The data were analyzed using ANOVA, and a further BNT test was carried out to determine the natural effect of each treatment. Results: The results of the BNT and protein content test show that vegetable waste food significantly impacts the mass, length, thickness, and protein content of maggots. Conclusion: Feeding vegetable waste affects maggots’ mass, length, thickness, and protein content.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui validitas dan tanggapan peserta didik terhadap keterbacaan produk handout pada materi interaksi makhluk hidup dengan lingkungan untuk peserta didik kelas VII SMP. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode research and development (R&D) dengan mengacu pada model 4D yang dimodifikasi menjadi 3D. Pada penelitian ini peneliti membatasi hanya sampai tahap develop. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan berupa observasi, wawancara, dan angket. Instrumen pengumpulan data yang digunakan berupa lembar observasi, lembar wawancara, lembar angket kebutuhan, lembar validasi ahli, dan lembar angket persepsi peserta didik. Validasi produk handout dilakukan oleh 5validator ahli (2 dosen dan 3 guru). Uji keterbacaan produk dilakukan oleh 32 peserta didik SMPN 9 Kota Bengkulu. Berdasarkan hasil validasi ahli terhadap bahan ajar handout pada materi interaksi makhluk hidup dengan lingkungan yang telah dikembangkan secara keseluruhan mendapat skor rata-rata 0,926 dalam kategori “validitas tinggi”. Hasil uji keterbacaan produk yang dilakukan oleh 32 peserta didik kelas VII terhadap handout pada materi interaksi makhluk hidup dengan lingkungan, secara keseluruhan memperoleh persentase rata˗rata 86,78% dalam kategori “sangat baik”. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa bahan ajar handout yang dikembangkan memiliki validitas tinggi dan sangat baik secara konseptual sehingga dapat dilanjutkan ke tahap uji coba lapangan.   Kata kunci: R&D, bahan ajar, handout, interaksi makhluk hidup dengan lingkungan.   ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the validity and responses of students to the readability of handout products on the interaction of living things with the environment for class VII students of junior high school. This study uses the research and development (R&D) method with reference to the modified 4D model into 3D. In this research, the researcher limits it only to the develop stage. Data collection techniques used in the form of observation, interviews, and questionnaires. The instrument used in this study was a observation sheets, interview sheets, needs questionnaire sheets, expert validation sheets, and student perception questionnaire sheets. Handout product validation was carried out by 5 expert validators (2 lecturers and 3 teachers). The product readability test was carried out by 32 students at SMPN 9 Bengkulu City. Based on the results of expert validation of the handout teaching materials on the interaction material of living things with the environment that has been developed as a whole gets an average score of 0.926 in the "high validity" category. Based on the results of the product legibility test conducted by 32 class VII students on handouts on the interaction of living things with the environment, overall, they obtained an average percentage of 86.78% in the "very good" category. Based on these results it can be concluded that the developed handout teaching materials have high validity and are very good conceptually so that they can be continued to the field trial stage. Abstract

The Southeast Asian box turtle, Cuora amboinensis, known locally as the “Batok Turtle” is one of the world's most endangered turtle species. Conservation is needed to protect this species from the threat of extinction. Conservation efforts are complex and involve multiple scientific disciplines. This research was conducted in the Ex-situ Conservation area of ​​Bengkulu University, to determine the morphometric variations of adult C. amboinensis and determine the differences between males and females based on body size as a conservation effort. The research subjects were 20 adults (8 men and 12 women) of C. amboinensis. Several morphometric measurements that have been carried out include head width, carapace length, carapace width, curved carapace length, curved carapace width, carapace height, plastron length, plastron width, length of the midline on all plastron scales (sugar, humerus, pectoral, abdominal, femoral and anal), tail length, tail thickness, and body weight. Next, a t test was carried out to determine the morphometric characteristics of male and female C. amboinensis. The results of the analysis show that there are significant differences. C. amboinensis males have greater carapace length, tail length and tail thickness than females. C. amboinensis females have greater carapace height and humeral scale diameter than males.

Abstract

This research was conducted because of the difficulties experienced by students in learning, especially in the use of learning resources which still use printed books and worksheets in less interesting classroom learning. The gap that occurs between expectations and reality is that students expect learning to be more interactive, interesting and practical. This research aims to produce Android-based learning media products using integrated additives as smoked fish in the city of Bengkulu. The method applied is research and development (RND). This research uses a 4D development model (Define, Design, Development, and Disseminate). Development carried out is limited to the Development stage. The subjects of this research were 31 students in class VIII 2 of SMPN 3 Bengkulu City. Research instruments include observation, teacher interview sheets, student readability test sheets and expert validation sheets. The results of the research show that Android-based learning media on integrated smoked fish additive material is very suitable for use based on validation results from two validators, namely two material experts, two media experts, and practitioners. The learning media validation score by material experts was 88 in the "very feasible" category, the validation result by media experts was 87 in the "very feasible" category. And the practitioner validation results were 91 which were in the "very feasible" category. And the results of student responses to the media were 92 in the "very good" category. It can be concluded that Android-based learning media is very feasible and very good for use in junior high school science learning on additive material. For further training, it is possible to carry out secondary school education learning activities aimed at by the next training.

Abstract

Makroinvertebrata merupakan organisme tidak bertulang belakang yang memiliki ukuran kasat mata, memiliki habitat di darat, dalam  tanah, perairan meliputi air laut dan tawar. Kelompok makroinvertebrata di perairan bisa dijadikan bioindikator suatu perairan. Makroinvertebrata di perairan air tawar contohnya kelompok keong air tawar, serangga air, udang dan Clitellata seperti lintah. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Oktober 2023 sampai Januari 2024 menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan leaf litter bags, jaring seser, dan mengambil sedimen dasar perairan menggunakan ember. Pengukuran parameter lingkungan dilakukan meliputi pengukuran intensitas cahaya, suhu air, tingkat keasaman (pH), oksigen terlarut (DO), kedalaman lumpur, dan kedalaman air. Analisis data menggunakan indeks Shannon-Wiener, indeks Eveness dan indeks Simpson. Hasil identifikasi makroinvertebrata menunjukkan terdapat 16 spesies terdiri atas 13 famili dan 4 kelas. Indeks keanekaragaman makroinvertebrata di area kolam konservasi ex-situ kura-kura Siebenrockiella crassicollis Universitas Bengkulu secara umum tekanan ekologis berada pada kondisi tekanan rendah hingga sedang, dapat dilihat pada nilai H’ berkisar antara 0,981 sampai 1,577, indeks keseragaman berkisar antara 0,354 sampai 0,569 dan indeks dominansi berkisar antara 0,342 sampai 0,506. Kelimpahan, keanekaragaman, keseragaman dan dominansi makroinvertebrata dipengaruhi oleh parameter fisika kimia dan kondisi lingkungan.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the NPK value, biomass increase, and pH as the effect of the use of variations in Chinese cabbage and papaya waste feed to reduce environmental pollution and also increase the benefits of organic waste, and organic vegetable and fruit waste has the potential to fertilize the soil. This study was conducted on July 22, 2024 to August 19, 2024 at the Sumber Belajar Ilmu Hayati Ruyani (Bengkulu) and used the RAL (Complete Randomized Design) research method. Data analysis was carried out using an analytical balance, pH paper, and NPK level testing carried out at the Soil Science Laboratory, University of Bengkulu on November 18, 2024 using the methods, namely Nitrogen (Kjeldahl or spectrophotometric method), Phosphorus (Sulfuric acid method followed by spectrophotometric method), Potassium (Extraction method followed by analysis using spectrophotometry). The results of the study showed that the highest NPK levels in sequence were Nitrogen (N) 2.05% in the 100% (Chinese cabbage) feed variation, Phosphorus (P) 0.58% in the 75% (papaya): 25% (Chinese cabbage) feed variation and potassium (K) 0.40% in the 50% (Chinese cabbage): 50% (papaya) feed variation. The highest biomass increase was obtained in the 100% (papaya) feed variation with a weight increase of 27.4g and the highest pH in the 100% (papaya) variation of 6.8 in the normal category. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that the addition of earthworms Lumbricus rubellus in making vermicompost can degrade Chinese cabbage and papaya waste into usable products, and the use of Chinese cabbage and papaya waste as feed in making vermicompost can increase NPK levels, Biomass and soil pH.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi jenis dan habitat Dogania subplana di anakan Sungai Melintang. Pengamatan dilakukan selama periode Juni-September 2024 dengan menggunakan metode pemasangan trap untuk menangkap sampel yang dibagi menjadi 4 stasiun. Sebagai habitat D. subplana, setiap stasiun dilakukan identifikasi tumbuhan, substrat serta mengukur abiotik. Parameter yang diamati meliputi Populasi. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian diketahui jenis labi-labi yang ditemukan adalah Dogania Subplana, diperoleh 10 ekor tangkapan dengan jenis kelamin jantan 4 dan betina 6. Substrat habitat D. subplana yaitu berpasir, berlumpur dan berkerikil. Tutupan lahan stasiun (I, II) kebun kopi dan stasiun (III, IV) lahan bekas perkebunan. Jumlah tangkapan spesies hewan dari 4 stasiun yaitu 838 individu. Hasil pengukuran parameter lingkungan adalah pH (air (8,33–8,69), lumpur (1,79–2,08), tanah (5,91–6,22)), suhu (air (20,59–22,43°C), udara (21,75–31,84°C)), kelembapan (lumpur (51,2–54,9%), udara (51,78–87,56%), tanah (56,19–61,37%)), TDS (0,24–0,26), DO (6,14–7,6), dan intensitas cahaya (0,0546–741,22). Berdasarkan data lapangan diketahui bahwa identifikasi jenis dan habitat D. subplana di anakan Sungai Melintang masih tergolong baik, ditandai dengan sumber makanan di habitat alami masih berlimpah dan parameter lingkungan yang diamati berada pada rentang yang cukup mendukung kelangsungan hidup spesies ini.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji peran ekologi tanaman Teratai (Nelumbo nucifera) di daerah rawa kampus Universitas Bengkulu, dengan fokus pada komponen biotik dan abiotik sebelum dan sesudah penanaman, serta interaksi yang terjadi dalam ekosistem. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui pengamatan langsung di beberapa plot dari bulan Juni sampai Desember 2024. Analisis dilakukan dalam tiga tahap: reduksi data, penyajian dalam bentuk tabel dan gambar, dan verifikasi untuk simpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya perbaikan faktor abiotik setelah penanaman N. nucifera, seperti suhu, pH, dan oksigen terlarut (DO). pH air meningkat dari 6,19 menjadi 7,50, dan DO meningkat dari 2,5 mg/L menjadi 3,9 mg/L. Kehadiran N. nucifera juga menyebabkan peningkatan keanekaragaman hayati hewan, dengan peningkatan spesies dari 51 menjadi 73, termasuk pengurai, predator, penyerbuk, dan hama. Interaksi simbiosis seperti komensalisme, parasitisme, dan mutualisme diamati. N. nucifera menunjukkan kemampuan bersaing yang kuat, dengan pertumbuhan daun yang konsisten dan penyerapan cahaya yang unggul (844 Lux dibandingkan dengan 270 Lux pada tanaman lain). Faktor abiotik, termasuk suhu dan intensitas cahaya, memengaruhi pembungaan bunga, dengan suhu pagi yang rendah mendukung pembungaan penuh, sementara suhu tinggi menyebabkan bunga menutup. Studi ini menyoroti potensi N. nucifera untuk meningkatkan keanekaragaman hayati hewan dan mendefinisikan berbagai interaksi yang terjadi dalam ekosistem, sekaligus menekankan perlunya penelitian lebih lanjut untuk memperdalam pemahaman tentang komponen dan interaksi ekosistem .

Abstract

Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pelatihan konversi sampah organik menjadi berbagai produk bernilai jual bagi kelompok pengelola sampah di Kabupaten Kepahiang. Pelatihan yang diberikan berupa budidaya maggot, pembuatan eco-enzym, dan pupuk kompos. Kegiatan pelatihan dibimbing oleh 3 Dosen dan 4 Mahasiswa dari FKIP Universitas Bengkulu yang bermitra dengan Dinas Lingkungan Hidup Kabupaten Kepahiang. Peserta pelatihan adalah kelompok pengelola sampah di Desa Bandung Jaya dan Desa Cugung Lalang yang masing-masingnya beranggotakan 25 orang. Kegiatan pelatihan dimulai dengan tahapan sosialiasi berupa ceramah berbantuan powerpoint, leaflet panduan yang dicetak warna, dan praktek langsung menggunakan alat dan bahan yang disediakan tim pengabdian. Hasil yang diperoleh dari pengabdian adalah peserta telah mampu melakukan setidaknya 8 siklus @ 36 kg budidaya maggot secara mandiri. Produksi maggot juga telah dibuat dalam kemasan kering dalam standing pouch untuk dijual sebagai pakan ikan dan burung. Mitra juga telah mampu menghasilkan setidaknya 2 ton pupuk kompos kering dan 35 liter ekoenzim. Tindak lanjut pengabdian ini adalah upaya lanjutan dalam mengemas maggot dalam bentuk pakan komersil bagi usaha budidaya ikan komersil, sehingga nilai ekonomi budidaya maggot dapat bertambah. Mitra juga menyatakan membutuhkan pelatihan budidaya cacing dan jamur tiram.
