Abstract

Sports accidents can have a very significant impact on various aspects of life. However, public knowledge regarding this still needs to be improved and uneven, so it is essential to disseminate information related to preventing and handling sports accidents. This study aimed to determine the effect of health education on public knowledge in the prevention and early handling of sports accidents. This study was a pre-experimental study with a one-group pre-post-test approach. The research sample consisted of 230 respondents and was conducted using an accidental sampling technique. Data analysis was done by looking at the difference in pre-test and post-test values using the Wilcoxon difference test. The results of the study showed that before health education was given, the average value of respondents' knowledge was 59.30 ± 26.21.Meanwhile, after being given health education, the average score increased to 84.87 ± 20.27. Bivariate analysis showed a statistically significant difference with a p-value <0.001. This shows a difference in public knowledge about sports accidents before and after being given health education. There is a need for activities like this to be carried out in other communities and society in general so that the dissemination of information and public understanding related to sports accidents will improve and the impact of delays in handling injuries can be minimized. Keywords: Health education; knowledge; sports accidents.

Abstract

The Cardiac Intensive Care Unit or CICU is a hospital unit specifically for treating acute cardiovascular disease. The implementation of structured nursing standards is very important to ensure optimal quality of care. This narrative review was conducted to compare the application of the NANDA NIC-NOC (3N) model and the 3S Model in improving the quality of care in the CICU. Objective: This study aims to explore the application of nursing standards using the NANDA NIC-NOC model and the Indonesian Nursing Standards 3S (SDKI, SLKI, SIKI) in improving the quality of care in the CICU. Methods: The research design used in this study was a narrative review by searching for articles from PubMed with the keywords Nurses's Roles OR Roles, Nurse's OR Role, Nurse's OR Nurse Role AND Management, Airway OR Airway Control OR Control, Airway. Inclusion criteria included accessible full-text articles in English. Data was analyzed descriptively Results: From the research, 5 articles were obtained that were relevant to the research. This research conducted in several countries found that the implementation of nursing standards can improve the quality of care and patient outcomes in CICUs. The use of NIC and NOC standards helps nurses plan, implement and evaluate patient care systematically and effectively. Conclusions: Implementation of nursing standards has great potential in improving the quality of care in CICUs. There are limitations in empirical validation and adaptation to local context that need to be addressed. Recommendations for further research and development of intensive training programs are needed to ensure the effectiveness and sustainability of implementation of these nursing standards.

Abstract

The high demands on intensive care unit (ICU) nurses can be a source of stressors and cause distress for nurses. When nurses lack effective coping skills to deal with problems in the workplace, this can add to the stress levels of ICU nurses. Nurses' religiosity can affect nurses' beliefs in carrying out their duties as ICU nurses. The purpose of this narrative review was to understand and describe the religiosity of nurses in the intensive care unit. The method used was a narrative review with researchers searching for articles from quantitative and qualitative studies collected from electronic databases such as Pubmed, EBSCO, Cinahl, Science Direct, and Google Scholar, with keywords: religiosity, nurse, intensive care unit. We found ten articles and identified four themes related to the topic, namely: 1) the impact of nurses' religiosity, 2) dimensions of nurses' religiosity, 3) factors affecting nurses' religiosity, and 4) instruments to measure religiosity, namely: CRS, DSES, SSCRS, DUREL, PFS, PEMS, DRIS-F, MQS-T, and NSCTS.

Abstract

Introduction: Indonesia is a multi-linguistic country using the official language of Bahasa Indonesia. It is important to use formal language to collect research data without misinterpretation of study outcome and intervention effect with high accuracy. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze whether the Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II) instrument translated into the Indonesian version was reliable and valid for measuring depression in floods-affected communities. Methods: The forward-backward translation was used to translate the BDI-II from English to Indonesian version. We tested the reliability and validity including content and construct validity through exploratory factor analysis (EFA) with varimax rotation and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). We recruited 107 annual flood survivors in West Java, Indonesia as participants to test the psychometric testing. Results: The structures shown by the EFA are two factors, with Factor 1 representing negative cognitive-attitude domains and somatic symptom items consisting of Factor 2. The CFA concludes that the general factor model best fits the data on the basis Goodness-of-Fit Index (GFI)= 0.8; Root Mean Square Error of Approximation (RMSEA)= 0.09; Standard Root-Mean-Square Residual (SRMSR)); Comparative Fit Index (CFI)= 0.81; Tucker–Lewis Index (TLI)= 0.79; and p-value χ2 = < 0.01, χ2/df: 1.82). Conclusions: The results showed that the BDI-II Indonesian version has good reliability and validity and can be used to measure depression status among people who suffer floods in community setting. Future studies need to be validated within multiple socio-cultural groups.

Abstract

Aims: Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS) is a neurological sensorimotor disorder that causes a person to feel the need to move their lower extremities due to uncomfortable sensations. This condition can be monitored to minimize and cure the symptoms. One of the monitoring instrument is The Self-administered version of The International Restless Legs Syndrome Rating Scale (sIRLS). In Indonesia, the sIRLS instrument has not been culturally adapted. This research aims to translate and to test the content validity the Indonesian version of the sIRLS, so that it can further contribute to subsequent psychometric research on this instrument. Methods: The sIRLS were translated through forward translation, synthesized translation, back-translation, synthesized back-translation, and expert committee by five translators and three expert judges. Content validity was tested through CVR, I-CVI, and S-CVI for the essentiality, relevancy, and clarity of each item. Results: The first validity test showed a significant value for essentiality and relevancy of all the items (1,00). However the first test showed an insignificant value for the clarity of the seven items (0,33 and 0,66). Therefore the researcher should revise the seven items based on the suggestions from the expert judges and then carry out a second content validity test. Consequently, the final values of the CVR, I-CVI, and S-CVI showed significant values (1,00) for the essentiality, relevancy, and clarity. Discussions: Many Adaptation and modification on a few terms were required to achieve both meaning and cultural equivalence and also to facilitate understanding of the respondents. Conclusion: The Indonesian Version of self-administered version of The International Restless Legs Syndrome Rating Scale (sIRLS) is validly reviewed from the essentiality, relevancy, and clarity of the items.
