Abstract

ndonesia, the world’s largest archipelagic state, faces complex maritime governance challenges stemming from a disconnect between its decentralized legal framework and its centralist administrative practices. Despite constitutional provisions allowing regional entities to engage in international cooperation, bureaucratic hurdles undermine the effectiveness of maritime paradiplomacy, particularly in regions such as the Riau Islands and North Maluku. This study aims to address this gap by examining the 15th-century Melaka Sultanate as a historical model of decentralized maritime diplomacy that can inspire modern policy innovations. Utilizing a qualitative historical-comparative method, the research juxtaposes Melaka’s port-based paradiplomatic mechanisms such as the empowered role of syahbandars and strategic diaspora networks with Indonesia’s current regulatory constraints. Primary data were sourced from historical manuscripts including Suma Oriental and Yingya Shenglan, while contemporary policies were analyzed through legal documents and regulatory simulations. The findings reveal that Melaka's distributed sovereignty, pragmatic neutrality, and cultural diplomacy through maritime networks facilitated effective transregional cooperation, in stark contrast to Indonesia's modern procedural stagnation. As a conclusion, the study proposes the revival of localized diplomatic authorities through "Maritime Autonomy Zones," the establishment of port curator councils, and the integration of cultural heritage in international engagement strategies. By recovering indigenous governance models, Indonesia can transform its peripheral maritime regions into vibrant centers of diplomatic and economic agency. This research not only bridges historiographical, legal, and policy domains but also offers a feasible pathway for strengthening Indonesia’s maritime sovereignty through culturally resonant decentralization.

Abstract

The Learning Management System (LMS) is a digital-based learning management platform used to plan, implement, and evaluate the teaching and learning process online. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Learning Management System (LMS) in improving students’ conceptual understanding and critical thinking skills on the topic of Control and Automation Systems at ESTV-GTI Becora School, Timor-Leste. This research is a development study (Research and Development) using the ADDIE model, which includes the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The research subjects consisted of two groups: an experimental class using an LMS based on instructional design principles and a control class using conventional methods. Data were collected through pretests, posttests, and an LMS effectiveness survey involving 65 respondents. The research results showed that the LMS achieved a high level of effectiveness, with an N-Gain score of 0.76 and an instrument reliability coefficient of 0.771 (high category). Furthermore, 96.94% of respondents expressed a positive response toward the use of LMS in learning. These findings confirm that the LMS can create an interactive and adaptive learning environment while significantly enhancing students’ critical thinking abilities and conceptual understanding.

Abstract

This study examines the representation of anxiety through child imagery in Indonesian horror film posters, employing Roland Barthes’ semiotic framework. The depiction of children as protagonists in horror movie posters creates a complex interaction between innocence and terror, utilizing visual clues to elicit emotions and capture viewers' attention. The objective of this study is to analyze how children's visual representations evoke sensations of fear and anxiety by interpreting their denotative and connotative meanings. A qualitative content study was conducted on ten meticulously selected Indonesian horror movie posters, spanning from Danur (2017) to Taghut (2024). The study concentrates on visual elements, including lighting, color palettes, body posture, face expressions, and symbolic objects, to uncover the fundamental cultural and psychological significances. The results indicate that child imagery serves as a powerful semiotic tool that embodies socio-cultural anxieties around family, morality, and social norms, while simultaneously amplifying terror through the contrast of vulnerability with supernatural or perilous elements. This research demonstrates the use of Barthes' semiotic theory in interpreting complex visual texts and enhances our comprehension of horror aesthetics within Indonesian cinema. The study offers significant insights for scholars examining media semiotics, visual culture, and film studies, particularly those interested in the dynamics of terror representation in cinematic marketing.

Abstract

History learning is an effort to convey the study of local wisdom in the environment around students. One of the local history studies that can be studied in history lessons is the impact of Dutch colonialism in Indonesia. The impact of Dutch colonialism in Indonesia can be seen in various fields, for example in the cultural sector it can be seen from the development of traditional culinary delights in Solo. This material is compiled in a digital teaching material with the title Solo Traditional Culinary. The aim is to provide cultural basics to students at State High Schools in the City of Surakarta. It is hoped that this digital teaching material will have an impact on teachers and students in the learning process. The approach used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The research locations taken were SMA Negeri 1 Surakarta and SMA Negeri 4 Surakarta. It is hoped that the creation of digital teaching materials can increase cultural awareness and innovation in the development of teaching materials. Apart from that, students are expected to get better learning outcomes by having quality teaching materials.

Abstract

The development research carried out has a purpose of developing teaching materials based on interactive multimedia on physical education subjects for learning short distance running athletics. This study aims to determine the feasibility of these teaching materials as learning media, especially during the Covid-19 period. The method used in this research is a preliminary study survey with a descriptive approach to find out the initial data which is the process of developing teaching material products based on interactive multimedia and the instrument used is a questionnaire. The schools that were used as research samples were two Junior High School in Sukoharjo Regency with the subjects of this study 191 students. Based on a preliminary study survey with a questionnaire instrument for students in each school, who understand sprinting technique is 63.9% and 36.1% have not been able to fully understand. From the findings of the preliminary study survey with the questionnaire instrument in the two schools above, it shows that teachers and students from Junior High School in Sukoharjo Regency have a fairly good perception. Teaching materials based on interactive multimedia is learning that contain material, evaluation questions, videos, tutorials, and simulations. Interactive multimedia criteria include attractive and interactive design, usable, accessible, appropriate, relevant. Development of teaching materials based on interactive multimedia for learning short-distance running athletic as an alternative to learning during the Covid-19 pandemic that is suitable for use in teaching and learning activities.

Abstract

Numeracy skills or numeracy literacy is a basic competency that is important for junior high school students to master in facing the challenges of the 21st century and the Industrial 5.0 era. However, PISA 2023 data shows that Indonesian students are still ranked low in math skills, reflecting students' weak numeracy skills. This study aims to test the effectiveness of Android-based Andro Poster learning media in improving the numeracy skills of grade VII junior high school students. The research uses a pre-experimental quantitative method with a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The research sample consisted of 30 students in grades VII-9 of junior high school who were selected through purposive sampling techniques. The research instrument was in the form of a numeracy multiple-choice test of 10 items, which was developed based on indicators of numeracy ability in the submaterial of algebraic forms. Data were obtained through pretest and posttest, then analyzed using paired sample t-tests and effect sizes (Cohen's d). The results showed that the average posttest score (72.87) increased significantly compared to the pretest (60.97), with a p value of < 0.001. The correlation between pretest and posttest of 0.865 shows a very strong relationship. In addition, Cohen's d value of -2.905 indicates a very large measure of effect on students' improved numeracy skills. Andro's Poster Media successfully presents algebra material visually, contextually, and interactively, so that it can increase students' motivation to learn and understand. This study concludes that the use of Android-based learning media such as Poster Andro is an effective and innovative strategy in improving the numeracy skills of junior high school students. This finding is expected to be a practical solution in mathematics learning as well as contribute to the development of digital media that is adaptive to the learning needs of students in the digital era.
