Abstract

Smoking behavior is a cause of premature death in productive age, which is related to heart disease, cancer, stroke and respiratory tract disorders. Smoking habits that start since adolescence will increase dependence in old age. This study aimed to explore the perspectives of adolescents aged 14-16 years on smoking behavior. This type of research was qualitative with a phenomenological approach involving 8 adolescents selected using the snowball sampling technique. Researchers conducted in-depth interviews with adolescent smokers using semi-structured interview guidelines. The results of the interviews were transcribed and thematic analysis was carried out. This study produced 5 themes, namely: (1) description of smoking behavior motives in adolescents; (2) negative self-concept; (3) the impact of smoking; (4) efforts to quit smoking; and (5) obstacles experienced when trying to quit smoking. Smoking behavior in adolescents is greatly influenced by the environment of friends who often invite and force them to try cigarettes until they become addicted and find it difficult to quit smoking. Adolescents experience the impacts of smoking behavior such as coughing, chest pain, and pleural effusion. Adolescents try to quit smoking because they are pursuing their ideals, doctor's advice due to health problems, parental prohibitions but because they experience withdrawal effects such as restlessness, irritability, fever and laziness to do activities, this prevents adolescents from quitting smoking. It is concluded that teenagers are not yet able to determine good behavior, so they are at greater risk of addiction to cigarette products that can affect health in the future and strict rules are needed for teenagers who smoke. Keywords: teenagers; smoking behavior; smoking habits; health ABSTRAK Perilaku merokok adalah penyebab kematian dini pada usia produktif, yang berkaitan dengan penyakit jantung, kanker, stroke dan gangguan pernapasan. Results: The patient experienced headaches, dizziness when walking 8 meters, trouble sleeping, and frequent awakenings. He also had trouble using his left limbs. blood pressure 173/97 mmHg, rotational movement ability 90 degrees, and upper left extremity’s muscle strength is 3. Ineffective cerebral perfusion, decreased physical mobility, and irregular sleep patterns are among the nursing diagnosis. Vital sign monitoring, medication instruction, mobilization help using mirror therapy twice daily for 30 minutes for five days, and sleep support were among the therapies offered. Upper left extremity’s muscle strength increased by 4 with 180-degree rotating movements on the sixth day of examination. In conclusion, older adults who have had a non-hemorrhagic stroke may benefit from using mirror therapy to strengthen their muscles. Papaya trees are often found in Indonesia, both fruit, flowers and leaves are commonly used. Papaya leaves are widely used to treat various diseases including diabetes. Indonesia, with 10.7 million diabetes sufferers, is in the top ten countries with the highest number of diabetes cases. Boiled papaya leaves water can be an alternative in controlling blood sugar levels in people with diabetes. The aim of the study was to prove that boiled papaya leaf water is useful for lowering blood sugar levels in diabetes mellitus patients. The materials used were papaya leaves and clean water. The research method, this study is analytical, namely quasi-experimental design using the pre-test method (before treatment) how much blood sugar levels and post-test (after treatment) blood sugar levels were measured after 30 minutes of treatment then compared with the control group. The treatment was in the form of drinking boiled papaya leaf water with a dose of 100 ml from 10 grams of papaya leaves in one gift. The control only drank water. The research results were based on statistical tests, the data distribution was not normal so the Wilcoxon test was carried out. The significance obtained was 0.117 (>0.05) so that H0 was accepted, it mean there was no effect, meaning that boiled papaya leaf water had no effect on reducing blood sugar levels in diabetes sufferers. The conclusion is that boiled papaya leaf water has no effect on lowering blood sugar levels in diabetes sufferers. It is recommended to calculate the dose based on body weight, increase the dose, or grind it first before use.

Abstract

Hypertension is a non-communicable disease with a prevalence that continues to increase every year. The problem that occurs in society is a lack of understanding about self-care management, which causes uncontrolled blood pressure and the risk of lasting complications such as stroke. Education aims to increase knowledge about the benefits and obstacles and self-care management efforts in controlling blood pressure. The community service methods used are health checks, providing modules and brainstorming-based education about self-care management for hypertension patients. The evaluation results obtained were that before education was carried out using the brainstorming method, only 13 participants (37%) had a good level of knowledge about self-care management and this increased to 31 participants (89%). Participants very enthusiastically expressed the opinion that it is very important to check blood pressure every month and change lifestyle and behavior patterns. It is hoped that counseling will be carried out on a scheduled basis so as to increase knowledge and self-care management of hypertension patients.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse human resource management in Islamic education and identify the obstacles faced by educational institutions in its implementation. The research method used was a literature study with a qualitative approach. Data were collected through searches and reviews of literature in the form of books, scientific articles, and relevant documents, then analysed descriptively to identify patterns and key findings related to the concepts and practices of Islamic value-based HRM. The results of the study show that HRM in Islamic education includes planning, recruitment and selection, competency development and training, as well as evaluation and empowerment of educators. The obstacles found include a shortage of competent educators, difficulties in adapting to technological developments, and a low level of understanding of the importance of targeted HRM. This study emphasises the need to strengthen Islamic-based HR management in order to produce professional educators with good character who are able to respond to current educational needs.

Abstract

Introduction: Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death globally, with 17.9 million deaths in 2019, of which 85% were caused by stroke and coronary heart disease (CHD). In Indonesia, CHD accounts for 26.4% of all deaths; therefore, controlling risk factors is a priority. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between modifiable risk factors (smoking, obesity, hypertension, and lifestyle) and the incidence of CHD. Methods: This analytical study used a cross-sectional design with accidental sampling and was conducted at the Heart Polyclinic of the Undata Hospital, Central Sulawesi, in August 2025. A total of 112 respondents aged ?35 years who sought treatment were included in this study. Data were collected through direct measurements (blood pressure, height, and weight) and questionnaires assessing smoking habits, lifestyle, and medical histories. Ethical approval was obtained from the Health Research Ethics Committee of Poltekkes Kemenkes Palu. Data analysis included univariate, chi-squared (95% CI), and logistic regression tests. Results: Among 112 respondents, 56 (50%) were diagnosed with CHD. There was a significant association between CHD and smoking (p < 0.001), obesity (p = 0.004), hypertension (p = 0.001), and lifestyle habits (p = 0.031). Logistic regression analysis identified smoking as the strongest predictor of CHD (odds ratio [OR] = 16.626; p = 0.009). Conclusion: Smoking, obesity, hypertension, and lifestyle were significant risk factors for CHD, with smoking emerging as the main determinant. Preventive strategies should prioritize smoking cessation, weight control, hypertension management, and promotion of healthy lifestyles.
