Abstract

Abstract: Knowledge and science have an important role in Islamic and Western religious views, but with different perspectives. In Islam, the Qur'an and Hadith emphasize the importance of knowledge, which is considered a spiritual and practical heritage for humanity. In the West, science is considered to be attainable through reason and empirical experience, without recognition of revelation. The research method used in this article is a comparative approach between Islamic and Western philosophical thought, especially in the fields of ontology and epistemology. An in-depth analysis of classical texts and related philosophical works is carried out to identify fundamental similarities and differences between the two traditions of thought. In Islam, knowledge comes from Allah SWT and is revealed through the revelation of the Qur'an. Islamic ontology includes the nature of the existence of Allah SWT, the universe, humans, and the relationship between the two. Meanwhile, Islamic epistemology recognizes reason, senses and revelation as sources of knowledge. On the other hand, in the Western view, science is limited to empirical reality that can be observed and measured. The ontology of science in the West emphasizes material-empirical reality, with epistemology emphasizing reason and human sensory experience as sources of knowledge. Differences in conceptions of truth are also reflected in Islamic and Western views. Islam associates truth with revelation and spiritual understanding, while the West tends more towards reason and empirical experience. Thus, although Islam and the West have different views on the sources and nature of knowledge, both have an important role in understanding the world and developing human thought.

Abstract

The development of ChatGPT is increasingly being used by educational institutions. ChatGPT presents ready-to-use information so that students sometimes do not analyze and question its accuracy, this has the potential to damage critical thinking skills due to dependence on technology. This study aimed to determine the use of ChatGPT in improving the critical thinking skills of graduates of Islamic religious education at Islamic universities. This study used a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data collection was conducted at Walisongo State Islamic University, Semarang through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation studies. This study showed that the use of ChatGPT in Islamic Religious Education lectures had succeeded in supporting students in improving their critical thinking skills based on Paul and Elder's indicators. ChatGPT functions as a tool to facilitate interactive discussions between lecturers and students.  ChatGPT was used as a source of additional information, enriching students' understanding of concepts and theories in Islamic religious studies. ChatGPT helped in generating new ideas and expanding the perspectives and references used in academic and research assignments. This study made a significant contribution in the context of using ChatGPT to improve the critical thinking skills of prospective Islamic education graduates.

Abstract

Education is the basis for acquiring knowledge, including religious and moral values. The knowledge that humans get from education starts from humans in the womb with the first educator being their parents. To educate children, both parents have a strategy called an educational pattern. Education patterns are very diverse, especially education and childcare patterns. In Islam, there are many figures who can be examples in educating children, one of which is Luqman. Luqman became a role model for parents in educating their children, even Luqman's example in educating his children contained in the Qur'an Surah Luqman. In Surah Luqman verses 13-19 describe the pattern of education to children by giving advice, exemplifying commendable behavior and upholding the teachings of Islam in life. The verse emphasizes a balanced approach to education that ensures that children's lives remain in harmony with Islamic teachings and values. The study of educational patterns based on surah Al-Qur'an Luqman verses 13-19 can be a reference for parents in providing education to children in accordance with the Qur'an, so as to form children's character with good knowledge, morals and beliefs.

Abstract

Children's education is an effort to develop the potential that each individual has from an early age. Through education, children not only understand knowledge but are also able to express and apply it in facing various life problems. The success of education requires a structured and methodological conceptual framework. This study aims to analyze the concept of children's education from Ibn Sina's perspective, focusing on three main aspects: its framework of thought, the methods applied, and its relevance to contemporary children's education.   Ibn Sina, as one of the classical Muslim thinkers, offered a holistic concept of education, covering intellectual, moral, and physical aspects. This study examines the conceptual framework, including the educational objectives, theoretical foundations, and learning methods that he proposes. In addition, this research also explores how Ibn Sina's perspective can be relevant to the concept of children's education in the modern era.   The research method used is library research, by collecting and analyzing data from various literature such as books, scientific articles, and related reference sources. The results of the study show that Ibn Sina's thoughts on children's education emphasize the balance between the development of intellect, morals, and practical skills. The contribution of this research lies in the effort to connect the legacy of classical Islamic thought with the needs of today's education, as well as providing a conceptual alternative for the development of a more integrative and characterful children's education system.
