Abstract

The need for graduates who are adaptive, creative, and able to create their own jobs drives the importance of innovation in entrepreneurship education in higher education. However, conventional learning approaches still focus heavily on theoretical aspects and do not develop practical skills that are relevant to the real world. This study develops the CoMEL (Collaborative Multidisciplinary Entrepreneurship Learning) learning model as an innovative framework to overcome the limitations of conventional entrepreneurship education in higher education. Conventional learning models often only emphasize cognitive aspects and ignore affective and psychomotor skills that are important in entrepreneurship. CoMEL integrates collaborative learning, experiential learning, and project-based activities to strengthen students' entrepreneurial competencies. This model was developed using the ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluate) framework and was tested on 80 students participating in the Independent Campus Entrepreneurship Program at Yogyakarta State University. The results showed that the CoMEL model was able to improve team collaboration, creativity, problem solving, prototyping, and reflective learning of students. Students were involved in multidisciplinary teamwork, developing business ideas, building and testing prototypes, and conducting final presentations equipped with structured reflections. This study concludes that CoMEL is an effective model for preparing students to navigate entrepreneurial challenges through active, collaborative, and experiential learning strategies.

Abstract

This study explores a tourism village-based community empowerment model in Karangpatihan, a village with a significant population of people with intellectual disabilities, aiming to improve their economic and social welfare. Using an intrinsic case study approach with qualitative methods, informants were purposively selected, including the village head, Rumah Harapan managers, active programme participants, and their families. Data was collected through interviews, observation, and documentation, then analysed using Huberman's interactive model. The programme’s training in batik ciprat, handicraft making, and tourism management significantly improved outcomes. Participants’ income increased by 30%-40%, supported by sales of crafts and tourism roles. Socially, stigma against disabilities lessened as participants engaged in guiding tours and ticket management. Challenges included limited digital marketing innovation, insufficient training continuity, and low initial motivation. Recommendations include enhancing digital marketing through social media training, e-commerce platforms, and diversifying local products. This model demonstrates strong potential for replication as an inclusive and sustainable rural development strategy.

Abstract

Karawang, an agrarian area located in West Java, has recently experienced a rapid industrial transformation that has led to a breakdown in intergenerational transmission of local farming knowledge and ecological values. As a response to this situation, Imah Urang Educational Tourism implemented a rice agriculture education program situated in outdoor learning experiences that uses Kolb’s (2015) Experiential Learning framework. The aim of the current study is to describe the experiential learning that occurs in the program, and examine how each phase of the cycle (Concrete Experience, Reflective Observation, Abstract Conceptualization, and Active Experimentation) informs development of agrarian, ecological and cultural values. Data were collected using a descriptive qualitative method where observation, interviews with key stakeholders and documentation provided the basis of analysis of findings. The findings demonstrated that the program successfully encouraged participation in experiential activities and evoked empathy for farmers and ecological thinking, as well as valuing culture. The study concludes that non-formal educational tourism that uses an experiential educational approach in agrarian areas impacted by industry can act as a practical educational model for sustainability learning.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the psychological experiences of Generation Z entrepreneurs in Jakarta who seize opportunities in tourism-related businesses such as open trips, beauty services, laundry, culinary ventures, and souvenir shops. Using a qualitative phenomenological design, this research adopts an Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) approach to understand how young entrepreneurs interpret their entrepreneurial journeys in a rapidly changing digital era. Five Gen-Z entrepreneurs participated in semi-structured interviews, and the data were analyzed through a hermeneutic and idiographic process to capture the depth of lived experiences. The analysis revealed three superordinate themes: (1) self-confidence, characterized by technological mastery and optimism in facing business challenges; (2) independence, reflected in their preference for freedom of expression and anti-hierarchical work culture; and (3) pragmatism, denoting a lifestyle-oriented pursuit of financial freedom and comfort. These findings contribute to a deeper understanding of Gen-Z entrepreneurial identity and offer practical implications for developing entrepreneurship education and character-building programs in both formal and informal educational settings.
