Abstract

This study aims to explore the psychological experiences of Generation Z entrepreneurs in Jakarta who seize opportunities in tourism-related businesses such as open trips, beauty services, laundry, culinary ventures, and souvenir shops. Using a qualitative phenomenological design, this research adopts an Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) approach to understand how young entrepreneurs interpret their entrepreneurial journeys in a rapidly changing digital era. Five Gen-Z entrepreneurs participated in semi-structured interviews, and the data were analyzed through a hermeneutic and idiographic process to capture the depth of lived experiences. The analysis revealed three superordinate themes: (1) self-confidence, characterized by technological mastery and optimism in facing business challenges; (2) independence, reflected in their preference for freedom of expression and anti-hierarchical work culture; and (3) pragmatism, denoting a lifestyle-oriented pursuit of financial freedom and comfort. These findings contribute to a deeper understanding of Gen-Z entrepreneurial identity and offer practical implications for developing entrepreneurship education and character-building programs in both formal and informal educational settings.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aims to analyze the relationship between teacher’s knowledge of Bloom’s Taxonomy and character education with their digital-based understanding of the Javanese philosophy Sura Dira Jayaningrat Lebur Dening Pangastuti within technology-integrated cultural education enviroments. Methodology: A quantitative correlational method was implemented using a digital Likerts-scale questionnaire administered through an online platform. Data were analysed with SPSS using validity and reliability test, Pearson product-moment correlation, and multiple regression analysis to measure relationships among Bloon’s Taxonomy knowledge, character education knowledge, and digital-based philosophical understanding. Main Findings: The study reveals significant positive correlations between teachers’ knowledge of Bloom’s Taxonomy and their digital-based understanding of Javanese philosophy. Teachers’ knowledge of Indonesian character education also shows a strong and significant relationship. Combined, both variables explain 92,8% of the variance in teacher’s ability to interpret and internalize philosophical values within technology-supportes cultural learning. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study offers a new framework linking pedagogical knowledge with digital cultural interpretation, demonstrating how technology enhances teachers’ ability to translate Bloom’s Taxonomy and character education technology by integrating local wisdom, digital media, and oedagogical theory into a coherent model for cultural preservation.

Abstract

This study explores a tourism village-based community empowerment model in Karangpatihan, a village with a significant population of people with intellectual disabilities, aiming to improve their economic and social welfare. Using an intrinsic case study approach with qualitative methods, informants were purposively selected, including the village head, Rumah Harapan managers, active programme participants, and their families. Data was collected through interviews, observation, and documentation, then analysed using Huberman's interactive model. The programme’s training in batik ciprat, handicraft making, and tourism management significantly improved outcomes. Participants’ income increased by 30%-40%, supported by sales of crafts and tourism roles. Socially, stigma against disabilities lessened as participants engaged in guiding tours and ticket management. Challenges included limited digital marketing innovation, insufficient training continuity, and low initial motivation. Recommendations include enhancing digital marketing through social media training, e-commerce platforms, and diversifying local products. This model demonstrates strong potential for replication as an inclusive and sustainable rural development strategy.

Abstract

River ecosystem degradation caused by pollution and increasing anthropogenic pressure requires culturally grounded and community-based conservation approaches. This study aims to analyse the cultural foundations and ecological functions of the Bersik Kali tradition in supporting community-based river conservation in the karst area of Goa Pindul, Bejiharjo Village, examine its role in enhancing community participation in river ecosystem protection, and assess its alignment with environmental law and SDG 15. Using a qualitative case-study design, data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation analysis. Data were analysed using Miles, Huberman, and Saldana's interactive model data condensation, display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was ensured through triangulation of techniques, sources, and time. The findings reveal that Bersik Kali serves as an effective culturally rooted mechanism for strengthening ecological awareness, participation, and shared responsibility for river conservation. Beyond improving river cleanliness, the tradition contributes to karst ecosystem functions by enhancing water infiltration, stabilising flow into underground channels, and supporting riparian vegetation recovery. Additional findings show that customary norms, social sanctions, and informal leadership play crucial roles in complementing formal environmental regulations and addressing implementation gaps in local river conservation governance in line with SDG 15. Collaboration with local government and environmental organisations further reinforces program sustainability despite persistent challenges such as waste-disposal habits, limited infrastructure, and uneven legal awareness. The study offers an original contribution by proposing a culturally grounded participatory conservation model that integrates Local Ecological Knowledge, ritual practices, ecological actions, and legal frameworks into a unified system of river and karst management. However, the study is limited to a single tradition and geographic setting, suggesting the need for comparative research across different cultural conservation practices.

Abstract

This study examines creative economy-based community empowerment in tourism villages, analyzing current conditions, influencing factors, income impacts, and formulating an effective empowerment model. Employing a qualitative case study design, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving 13 informants from Tepus and Gari Tourism Villages in Gunungkidul Regency, Indonesia. Data validity was ensured through triangulation, and analysis utilized the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña interactive model. Results reveal that empowerment has evolved contextually, positioning communities as primary development subjects engaged in homestay management, tour guiding, handicraft production, and cultural performances. Supporting factors include government policies, institutional presence, social capital, and local resources, while barriers encompass limited human resource quality, digital literacy gaps, capital constraints, and weak institutional coordination. Creative economy initiatives generated gradual income increases, livelihood diversification, and flexible employment opportunities, particularly for women and youth, though benefit distribution remains uneven. The study formulates an integrated empowerment model comprising three pillars: institutional strengthening and inter-actor synergy, needs-based training and mentoring, and digital technology integration. This model extends community-based tourism literature by demonstrating how non-formal education, asset mobilization, and collaborative governance can be operationalized in rural contexts, offering practical guidance for designing context-specific interventions that strengthen community agency while addressing structural constraints.

Abstract

The development of an inclusive literacy ecosystem from an early age is a strategic effort to foster a sustainable culture of reading and learning in society. The study aims to illustrate the implementation of a literacy program based on storytelling and coloring activities as a means to enhance children’s literacy interest. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach involving 25 children aged 5–6 years, parents, student volunteers, and community facilitators. Data were collected through observations, brief interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The needs analysis revealed that children had limited exposure to story- and visual-based literacy activities, as well as minimal parental involvement in supporting learning activities at home. The literacy program was implemented in a participatory manner through storytelling and coloring sessions designed to stimulate imagination, improve concentration, and develop children’s expressive abilities. The involvement of student volunteers and community facilitators also strengthened a fun and interactive learning environment. The evaluation results indicate an increase in children’s interest in literacy activities and greater community involvement in supporting child-friendly literacy spaces. These findings suggest that creative, contextual, and collaborative literacy activities can serve as an important foundation for building an inclusive literacy ecosystem within community settings.
