Abstract

This study has reported the effects of different formulation ratio between recycled high density polyethylene (r-HDPE) and recycled polypropylene (r-PP) into the resulted mechanical, thermal and morphological properties of r-HDPE/r-PP polymeric blends. About five (5) different formulation ratio of r-HDPE/r-PP have been prepared and tested. The best combination ratio between r-HDPE and r-PP was determined in this work. It was found that the 70/30 wt.% of r-HDPE/r-PP blend possessed an outstanding mechanical and physical strength. About 59.80% and 2.30% of positive improvement in comparison to 0/100 wt.% of r-HDPE/r-PP was achieved for both of tensile strength and hardness, respectively. Interestingly, for 70/30 wt.% of r-HDPE/r-PP blend had also experienced major increased in their elongation at break up to 473%. The fracture morphological behavior of the tested samples that were observed via SEM observation, had established the interaction between the structure and properties of produced r-HDPE/r-PP blends, especially on the miscibility state between the r-HDPE and r-PP phases. Thermal evaluation by using the DSC had confirmed the partial miscibility state due to dominant peak shifting at 120 - 140°C and obvious melting peak reduction pattern. Overall, from this study, it was found that the blending between r-HDPE and r-PP into r-HDPE/r-PP blends are feasible to improve the properties of primary phase.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the depletion of fossil fuels in nature, which is inversely proportional to the higher level of fuel oil consumption, so the need for alternative fuels, namely biodiesel. Biodiesel can be made using waste cooking oil because of its abundant quantity, low price, and not being reused. One of the efforts to achieve energy conservation and improve fuel quality is using bioadditives. A lemon essential oil can be used as a bio-additive because it is easily soluble in fuel and its oxygen-rich content can reduce the rate of fuel consumption. The process in this study is to produce biodiesel with waste cooking oil (WCO) using a transesterification process. Biodiesel samples containing the bioadditive lemon essential oil on B20 biodiesel with varying volume fraction (0%; 0.1%; 0.15%; 0.2%). In general, this research can be done in three steps. The first step is the characterization of the compound composition (GCMS) and functional group (FTIR) of diesel fuel, biodiesel, and lemon essential oil bioadditive. The second step is the characterization of the physicochemical properties (density, viscosity, flash point, calorific value) of B20 biodiesel with various concentrations of lemon essential oil bioadditive, then compared with SNI 7182:2015. The third step is determining the rate of fuel consumption in diesel engines. The results show that Biodiesel B20 with a volume fraction of 2% lemon essential oil bioadditive has a high ability to reduce the rate of fuel consumption. Abstract

Samarium cobalt is known as super high density magnetic material with large magnetic anisotropy energy. Samarium–cobalt exhibits manipulative magnetic properties as a rare-earth material which has different properties in a low sintering temperature. It is therefore of paramount importance to investigate samarium cobalt (Sm2Co17) magnetic properties in the low temperature sintering condition. Sm2Co17, which is utilized in this research, is synthesized via the sol–gel process at sintering temperatures of 400, 500, and 600 °C. Subsequently, the crystallites indicate the formation of a single-phase Sm2Co17 on all the samples in all temperature variations. Moreover, the peaks in the X-ray diffraction analysis of crystallite sizes calculated using the Scherrer equation are 17.730, 15.197, and 13.296 nm at 400, 500, and 600 °C. Through scanning electron microscopy, the particles are found to be relatively large and agglomerated, with average sizes of 143.65, 168.78, and 237.26 nm. The functional groups are also analyzed via Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, which results in the appearance of several bonds in the samples, for example, alkyl halides, alkanes, and esters with aromatic functional groups on the fingerprint area and alkynes, alkyl halides, and alcohol functional groups at a wavelength of above 1500 cm. The test results of the magnetic properties using vibrating-sample magnetometer (VSM) revealed high coercivity and retentivity in the samples sintered at 400 °C. However, the highest saturation occurs in the samples sintered at 600 ℃. At a low sintering temperature (below 1000 °C), samarium cobalt shows as the soft magnetic material. Abstract

This paper investigates the effect of using metakaolin Artificial Lightweight Aggre­gates (ALWA) as a substitute for coarse aggregates to produce structural lightweight concrete. A combination of 10M NaOH solution and sodium silicate solution was used as alkali activator. The ratio between the metakaolin binder and the alkali activator used in producing metakaolin ALWA is 48%:52%, by mass. It is shown that metakaolin ALWA has higher abrasion and water absorption, and lower bulk density values compared to normal aggregates. To determine the effect of using metakaolin ALWA as coarse aggregates in concrete, three variations of ALWA dosages were used, i.e. 0%, 50%, and 100% of the total coarse aggregates, by volume. The results show that the compressive strength of concrete decreased along with the increase of ALWA content in the mixture. However, concrete using 100% ALWA as coarse aggregates meets the requirements of compressive strength and density of structural light weight concrete.

Abstract

Abstrak. Tujuan dari pengabdian masyarakat ini ialah untuk memberikan solusi terhadap permasalahan yang tengah dihadapi oleh mitra berupa teknologi tepat guna untuk meningkatkan kadar oksigen, kualitas air, dan mempercepat pertumbuhan benih ikan lele berbasis Nano MicroBubble Aerator yang dilengkapi dengan fitur, auto power timer, input oksigen, dan ozon generator. Perangkat ini dapat memproduksi gelembung-gelembung udara yang berukuran hingga 50 µm dan mengalirkan ke air kolam ikan. Metode pelaksanaan pengabdian masyarakat ini dimulai dengan observasi untuk mengetahui akar permasalahan pada mitra, implementasi perangkat teknologi, sosialisasi, dan pengujian terhadap pengaruh perangkat teknologi. Hasil pengujian menunjukan bahwa dengan parameter yang diajukan. Kadar DO pada air kolam meningkat sebanyak 25 persen, kapasitas benih ikan lele meningkat sebanyak 31 persen, dan jumlah benih ikan lele yang mati berkurang hingga 60 persen. Bedasarkan hasil pengujian tersebut dapat dismpulkan bahwa alat ini dapat menjadi solusi permasalahan yang dialami oleh mitra. Kata Kunci: Nano MicroBubble Aerator, Auto Power Timer, Ozon generator, Ikan Lele, Budidaya Ikan Tawar.

Abstract

Pengelasan busur listrik elektroda terbungkus cocok digunakan untuk pelat-pelat datar. Namun untuk benda pejal sulit untuk dilakukan, apabila digunakan untuk benda pejal, maka, hasilnya kurang baik. Salah satu solusi untuk mengelas benda pejal yaitu menggunakan pengelasan gesek. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kekuatan tarik hasil pengelasan gesek (friction welding) dengan variasi kecepatan putar, durasi gesek dan tekanan serta mengetahui bagaimana struktur mikro hasil pengelasan gesek (friction welding). Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan model one-shot case study dan analisis deskriptif. Analisis deskriptif meliputi hasil uji tarik dan struktur mikro hasil pengelasan gesek. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang dilakukan, nilai kekuatan tarik yang paling tinggi dihasilkan pada variasi kecepatan putar 2850 Rpm, durasi gesek 60 detik pada tekanan 8 Mpa. Sedangkan untuk hasil kekuatan tarik yang paling rendah yaitu dihasilkan pada variasi kecepatan putar 2850 Rpm, durasi gesek 80 detik pada tekanan 8 Mpa. Hasil foto mikro menunjukan bahwa tidak ada perubahan fase pada hasil pengelasan gesek hanya terjadi penghalusan partikel Mg2Si pada daerah Zpd dan Zpl, sedangkan pada daerah Zud memiliki bentuk partikel Mg2Si yang sama dengan spesimen tanpa perlakuan.

Abstract

In this millennial era, there are many school institutions that use modern technology in carrying out learning, to support and make learning more interesting. One example of modern technology that can be used is Augmented Reality technology. Unfortunately the use of Augmented Reality technology is not as easy as imagined, because there are obstacles such as the lack of teacher education about various learning media that support the learning process and also especially on the location factor of RA Babul Ulum which is in rural areas so that it has not been touched by learning media that smells technology. To support learning using the AR system at RA Babul Ulum, Pulau Panggung village, North Lampung, a community grant team from the State University of Malang funded by PNBP carried out a community service program in the form of counseling and providing teaching aids in the form of an LCD projector and also several Augmented Reality (AR) cards.). With the methods of observation, lectures, demonstrations, discussions and practice with direct trials resulted in: teachers RA Babul Ulum understand and master the application of Augmented Reality technology; RA Babul Ulum received new teaching materials in the form of Augmented Reality cards; The use of this learning media causes students to understand better and not get bored easily when the learning process takes place.

Abstract

Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kemampuan mengenal huruf hijaiyah awal pada siswa Taman Kanak-kanak (TK) ‘Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal 16 Kota Malang dengan pemanfaatan media pembelajaran berupa alat permainan edukatif. Alat permainan edukatif ini bernama “Petak Pintar” yang mengambil konsep dari permainan tradisional engklek. Dengan sedikit modifikasi dan improvisasi, penggunaan alat permainan edukatif petak pintar ini dapat membuat pembelajaran menjadi lebih menyenangkan. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini melibatkan lembaga sekolah TK ‘Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal 16 Kota Malang sebagai mitra yaitu 6 orang guru dan 20 orang anak didik kelas B1, serta tim dari Universitas Negeri Malang. Hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat ini adalah meningkatnya kemampuan mengenal huruf hijaiyah awal sesuai dengan yang ada dalam petak pintar tersebut. Kemampuan yang terdapat dalam pengembangan alat permainan edukatif petak pintar yaitu anak dapat mengenal warna (pada petak dan gaco), anak mampu mengenal macam-macam bentuk geometri (persegi panjang, persegi, dan setengah lingkaran), menyebutkan lambang huruf hijaiyah, menuliskan lambang huruf hijaiyah pada papan tulis yang telah disediakan, memasangkan 2 sampai 3 huruf hijaiyah sesuai perintah melalui gambar pada kartu.

Abstract

Bunga rosella merupakan salah satu komoditas pertanian yang memiliki beragam manfaat. Komoditas tersebut banyak dimanfaatkan sebagai aneka olahan makanan. Salah satu kelompok UMKM yang melakukan kegiatan pengolahan bunga rosella adalah kelompok UMKM Griya Asri yang berlokasi di Desa Sumberdem, Kecamatan Wonosari, Kabupaten Malang. Kelompok UMKM Griya Asri melakukan produksi bunga rosella salah satunya yaitu diolah menjadi stick. Dalam proses produksi UMKM Griya Asri masih menggunakan metode tradisional dengan memanfaatkan botol kaca sebagai penggilas dan pisau sebagai pemotong adonan, hal ini berdampak pada kuantitas porduksi yang rendah. Salah satu upaya yang dilakukan untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut adalah dengan membuat inovasi alat produksi. Kegiatan ini menggunakan metode sosialisasi dan demonstrasi. Kegiatan dilakukan selama dua bulan, dengan melibatkan 20 peserta yang merupakan kelompok UMKM Griya Asri. Melalui kegiatan ini maka 20 peserta kegiatan telah mampu menggunakan mesin produksi dan terjadi peningkatan kuantitas produksi. Implementasi mesin industry sangat penting dilakukan guna mendukung proses produksi para pengusaha khusunya pada sektor UMKM. Kata kunci— Bunga rosella, Kelompok UMKM, Mesin otomatis Abstract Rosella flowers are one of the agricultural commodities that have a variety of benefits. These commodities are widely used as various processed foods. One of the MSME groups that carry out rosella flower processing activities is the Griya Asri MSME group located in Sumberdem Village, Wonosari District, Malang Regency. Griya Asri's MSME group produces rosella flowers, one of which is processed into sticks. In the production process of MSMEs Griya Asri still uses traditional methods by utilizing glass bottles as grinders and knives as dough cutters, this has an impact on low porduction quantity. One of the efforts made to overcome this problem is to innovate production tools. This activity uses the method of socialization and demonstration. The activity was carried out for two months, involving 20 participants who were griya Asri MSME groups. Through this activity, 20 participants of the activity have been able to use production machines and there is an increase in the quantity of production. The implementation of industrial machinery is very important to support the production process of entrepreneurs, especially in the MSME sector. Keywords— Automatic machine, Rosella flower, MSME Group

Abstract

This research uses SAE 5W-30 lubricant base material with the addition of Hexagonal Boron Nitride (hBN) nanoparticle additives. This study aims to analyze the thermophysical and rheological properties of lubricants with the addition of nanoparticles. The method in this study uses a two-step method where nanoparticles are first prepared separately, then added with nanoparticles with varying volume fractions of 0.05%, 0.10%, 0.15% into the base fluid as a processing step. The next step is the stirring process using a magnetic stirrer, and ultrasonic homogenizer process.  Furthermore, the nanolubricant was tested for thermophysical properties including viscosity, density, thermal conductivity, and sedimentation.
