Abstract

This study aims to develop students' skills through the integration of project-based learning and simulation. This study used mixed methods by involving 30 students of the Mathematics Education Study Program at Universitas PGRI Sumatera Barat as research subjects. Data collection was conducted through observations of five meetings and semi-structured interviews with nine students of various academic ability level, including high, medium, and low. The research instrument for quantitative data was an observation sheet, while for qualitative data, a semi-structured interview sheet was used. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis techniques for quantitative data and thematic analysis for qualitative data. The results of the study showed that the students' skills were not evenly distributed. Group collaboration in learning proved to be successful in increasing cooperation skills up to the high category, which indicates the effectiveness of learning in creating active interactions between students. However, other skills, such as creativity, communication, critical thinking, and innovation, are still in the medium category, which indicates that they still need further improvement and development. This study concludes that the integration of project-based learning and simulation has a positive effect on the abilities of students with uneven abilities. The integration of these learning approaches works synergistically by effectively linking theory and practice. Through project-based learning, students are encouraged to take an active role in designing, managing, and completing projects that directly contribute to their skill development. On the other hand, simulation functions as a complement that strengthens the effectiveness of project-based learning by presenting a real representation of the project by visualizing abstract concepts and allowing students to test the solutions they develop based on the project results.     Keywords: ability, competency, project-based learning, simulation, skills.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kemampuan literasi dan numerasi guru sekolah dasar serta tantangan yang dihadapi dalam mengajarkan keterampilan tersebut.berdasarkan hasil observasi, dan wawancara dengan guru di berbagai daerah, ditemukan bahwa sebagian besar guru memiliki pemahaman dasar yang baik dalam literasi dan numerasi, namun kesulitan dalam mengembangkan metode pengajaran yang kreatif dan interaktif. Guru di daerah perkotaan menunjukkan kompetensi yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan guru di daerah pedesaan, yang sering menghadapi keterbatasan akses terhadap pelatihan dan sumber daya pendidikan. Selain itu, banyak guru mengungkapkan kesulitan dalam mengintegrasikan teknologi dalam pembelajaran karena terbatasnya fasilitas dan koneksi internet. Metode penelitian Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif untuk menganalisis kemampuan literasi dan numerasi guru sekolah dasar serta tantangan yang dihadapi dalam mengajarkan keterampilan tersebut.teknik pengumpulan data mengunakan lembar observasi dan lembar wawancara. Teknik analisis data menggunakan data kualitatif yaitu reduksi data, display data. Hasil wawancara juga menunjukkan bahwa guru menginginkan lebih banyak pelatihan yang relevan dan berkelanjutan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan mereka dalam mengajarkan literasi dan numerasi. Penelitian ini menyarankan pentingnya peningkatan akses pelatihan, sumber daya pendidikan, dan penggunaan metode pembelajaran yang lebih inovatif guna meningkatkan kompetensi guru dalam kedua bidang tersebut.

Abstract

English for Mathematics is a required university course designed to bridge the gap between general English proficiency and the specific linguistic demands of mathematics. This study aims to explore the challenges students face in adapting to this specialized curriculum, aiming to deepen our understanding of the educational hurdles posed by evolving academic requirements for graduates. Employing a descriptive qualitative research design, the research examines the experiences of 35 students enrolled in the English for Mathematics course at the Mathematics Study Program of Universitas PGRI Sumatera Barat. Data were collected through semi-structured questionnaires, revealing five principal areas of difficulty: listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills, along with comprehension of mathematical content. The study identifies several factors contributing to these challenges, including limited vocabulary, inadequate prior knowledge, misinterpretations of course material, a lack of effective learning aids, and frequent writing errors. The findings suggest that these obstacles hinder student performance and impact their engagement and satisfaction with the course. The study calls for targeted interventions by educators and curriculum designers to enhance instructional methods and learning materials, thereby improving student outcomes and making learning more engaging and effective. These insights have broader implications for curriculum development and instructional strategies in specialized English education settings.

Abstract

This research aims to produce an E-Module with math literacy-based questions that are valid and practical for 10th-grade statistics in SMA Negeri 3 Padang. The type of research conducted is development research using the ADDIE development model. Data analysis techniques include interview analysis, E-Module validation analysis, and E-Module practicality analysis. The results of the research show that mathematics learning using the E-Module, which facilitates mathematical literacy questions, is both valid and practical. Based on the data analysis, it was found that the developed E-Module had a validity score of 92.31%, categorized as highly valid. The final practicality score for teachers was 85%, categorized as highly practical, and the final practicality score for students was 88.26%, also categorized as highly practical.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the lack of technology utilization in developing teaching materials. The aim of this study is to develop an Electronic Student Worksheet (E-LKPD) based on Problem Based Learning (PBL) for compound interest material in Grade XI at SMAN 3 Padang that is valid and practical. The subjects of this research were students of SMAN 3 Padang. This study employed a research and development (R&D) method with the ADDIE development model, which consists of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation stages. The instruments used in this research included teacher and student interview analyses using interview guidelines, material analysis on the module using a checklist, student characteristic analysis using a questionnaire, validation analysis by media experts and material experts using questionnaires, and practicality analysis and interviews using questionnaires and interview guidelines to assess the validity and practicality of the E-LKPD. Based on the E-LKPD validity results obtained from the validation by media experts and material experts, a percentage of 91% was achieved, categorized as very valid. The practicality score from the one-to-one trial with teachers was 90%, categorized as very practical, and from the one-to-one trial with students was 93%, also categorized as very practical. In the small group trial conducted with students, the practicality score was 81%, categorized as very practical. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the E-LKPD based on Problem Based Learning for compound interest material is declared valid and practical.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan representasi matematis siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal, khususnya pada materi kesebangunan. Representasi matematis mencakup tiga indikator, yaitu representasi visual, simbolik, dan verbal. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Sungai Limau pada materi kesebangunan. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Subjek penelitian berjumlah 34 siswa kelas VII-1. Instrumen penelitian terdiri dari tes berbentuk soal uraian dan wawancara, sedangkan analisis data dilakukan melalui reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 5 siswa memiliki kemampuan representasi matematis kategori tinggi, 17 siswa kategori sedang, dan 12 siswa kategori rendah. Siswa dengan kategori tinggi mampu memenuhi ketiga indikator representasi, siswa dengan kategori sedang hanya memenuhi dua indikator (simbolik dan verbal), sedangkan siswa kategori rendah hanya memenuhi salah satu indikator. Secara keseluruhan, kemampuan representasi matematis siswa berada pada kategori sedang, dengan kelemahan utama pada aspek visual dan simbolik. Temuan ini memberikan implikasi perlunya strategi pembelajaran yang menekankan pada penguatan representasi visual dan simbolik untuk meningkatkan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the understanding of students' mathematical concepts in the learning process which is still low. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is an effect of learning models on students' understanding of mathematical concepts and to determine whether there is an effect of students' academic ability level on students' understanding of mathematical concepts in Phase F IPA MAN 1 Padang Pariaman. This type of research is posstest-only control group design. This study uses the one-sample kolmogorof-smirnov method to determine whether the data under study is normally distributed. The data analysis technique in this study is the ANCOVA Test with the help of SPSS 22.0 Windows. From the results of the ANCOVA Test calculation, the sig value = 0.000 is obtained which means sig 0.05 then H_0 is rejected, so it can be concluded that there is a significant effect of the learning model on the understanding of mathematical concepts of Phase F science students MAN 1 Padang Pariaman. For the level of students' academic ability, sig 0.05 is obtained, so it can be concluded that the level of students' academic ability affects the understanding of students' mathematical concepts.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh bahan ajar Lembar Kerja Peserta Didik (LKPD) yang ada di SMP IT Adzkia Padang belum memenuhi kebutuhan peserta didik dalam memahami konsep matematika secara menyeluruh dan mendalam. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan sebuah LKPD berbasis Problem Based Learning (PBL) pada materi rasio dan proporsi yang valid untuk peserta didik fase D SMP IT Adzkia Padang. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian pengembangan R&D (Research and Development) dengan model pengembangan Plomp. Proses validasi dilakukan oleh tiga orang validator yang terdiri atas dua ahli materi dan satu ahli media. Hasil uji validasi LKPD berbasis Problem Based Learning (PBL) mencapai skor 90,2%, yang termasuk dalam kategori sangat valid. Kevalidan ini dinilai berdasarkan beberapa aspek, yaitu kelayakan isi, kelayakan penyajian, bahasa, kegrafikan, tampilan, dan kemudahan penggunaan. Data tersebut menunjukkan bahwa LKPD berbasis PBL materi rasio dan proporsi Fase D SMP IT Adzkia Padang valid dan dapat digunakan oleh pendidik dan peserta didik dalam proses pembelajaran.Kata Kunci: LKPD, Problem Based Learning

Abstract

This community service article advocates integrating structured Islamic philanthropy, exemplified by the National Amil Zakat Agency (BAZNAS), into Muslim student communities at Universitas PGRI Sumatera Barat (UPGRISBA) and Universitas Bung Hatta (UBH). Indonesia, prone to recurrent natural disasters, requires sustainable preparedness systems. In this context, BAZNAS serves as a strategic quasi-state actor that bridges religious duty and bureaucratic professionalism. The study of BAZNAS’s discourse, as analyzed through Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), reveals a model where institutional legitimacy is constructed through three synergistic layers: Syariah legitimacy (via MUI Fatwa 66/2022), technocratic-managerial legitimacy (through ISO 9001:2015 and WTP audit opinions), and political legitimacy (via endorsements from state officials, including the Vice President). This multi-layered approach transforms Zakat from traditional charity into a modern instrument of disaster governance and social resilience. This community service intervention aims to transfer this BAZNAS model of "organized giving" to student bodies, promoting the idea that Zakat, Infak, and Sadaqah (ZIS) are effective tools for collective welfare and crisis response. The current analysis of BAZNAS's public communication highlights the rhetoric of quantification and certification (e.g., using precise financial figures and WTP audits) and the semantics of heroism (e.g., "garda terdepan," or "frontline") to reinforce accountability and public trust. By adopting the discursive principles of BAZNAS, namely systematic management, digital transparency, and strategic alignment with development goals, student philanthropic units at UPGRISBA and UBH can enhance their credibility, expand their operational scale, and effectively position themselves as central actors in student and community resilience initiatives. The ultimate goal is to move the student understanding of philanthropy beyond reactive aid to a proactive, sustainable framework grounded in accountability and professionalism

Abstract

This study investigates how the National Amil Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) constructs its institutional image and legitimacy in disaster management through discourse. Using Teun A. van Dijk’s Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) framework, the research explores textual, cognitive, and contextual dimensions of BAZNAS’s disaster response narratives. The study analyzes official publications, press releases, and media reports to reveal how language is strategically employed to shape public perception of BAZNAS as both a faith-based and professional humanitarian actor. The findings demonstrate that BAZNAS incorporates Syariah legitimacy (endorsed by the Indonesian Ulema Council's Fatwa No. 66/2022), technocratic legitimacy (achieved through ISO 9001:2015 certification and unqualified audit opinions), and political legitimacy (via endorsements from State officials). These layers of discourse position BAZNAS as a quasi-state institution bridging religious duty and bureaucratic professionalism. At the superstructural level, narratives emphasize rapid response, organizational efficiency, and structured governance, while micro-level analysis highlights rhetorical strategies such as quantification, metaphors of heroism, and digital transparency that reinforce credibility and public trust. This study concludes that BAZNAS’s discourse transforms the meaning of Zakat from a traditional act of charity into a modern instrument of disaster governance and social resilience. By linking faith-based values with managerial and state-endorsed frameworks, BAZNAS strengthens its role as a central actor in Indonesia’s philanthropic ecosystem. The research contributes to the understanding of Islamic philanthropy, discourse, and power relations in the context of humanitarian crises. Abstrak Penelitian ini menginvestigasi bagaimana Badan Amil Zakat Nasional (BAZNAS) membangun citra kelembagaan dan legitimasi dalam penanggulangan bencana melalui wacana. Dengan menggunakan kerangka Analisis Wacana Kritis (AWK) Teun A. van Dijk, penelitian ini mengeksplorasi dimensi tekstual, kognitif, dan kontekstual dari narasi respons bencana BAZNAS. Studi ini menganalisis publikasi resmi, siaran pers, dan laporan media untuk mengungkap bagaimana bahasa digunakan secara strategis dalam membentuk persepsi publik terhadap BAZNAS sebagai aktor kemanusiaan yang berbasis keagamaan sekaligus profesional. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa BAZNAS menggabungkan legitimasi Syariah (diperkuat oleh Fatwa Majelis Ulama Indonesia No. 66/2022), legitimasi teknokratis (melalui sertifikasi ISO 9001:2015 dan opini audit tanpa pengecualian), serta legitimasi politik (melalui dukungan pejabat negara). Lapisan-lapisan wacana tersebut memosisikan BAZNAS sebagai lembaga kuasi-negara yang menjembatani kewajiban keagamaan dengan profesionalisme birokratis. Pada tataran superstruktur, narasi menonjolkan respons cepat, efisiensi organisasi, dan tata kelola yang terstruktur; sementara analisis pada level mikro menyoroti strategi retoris seperti kuantifikasi, metafora heroisme, dan transparansi digital yang memperkuat kredibilitas dan kepercayaan publik. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa wacana BAZNAS mentransformasikan makna zakat dari sekadar tindakan amal tradisional menjadi instrumen modern tata kelola bencana dan ketangguhan sosial. Dengan mengaitkan nilai-nilai keagamaan dengan kerangka manajerial dan dukungan negara, BAZNAS memperkuat perannya sebagai aktor sentral dalam ekosistem filantropi di Indonesia.
