Abstract

The purpose of the study was to collect data regarding teachers' perceptions of the curriculum for first-year students at SMAS Kemala Bhayangkari 1 Kubu Raya using qualitative descriptive methods. Data were obtained by conducting observations, interviews, and documentation with subject matter experts and the curriculum team. Data analysis was conducted using data reduction, data entry, and data validation techniques.  The research findings highlight teachers' perceptions of the Merdeka Belajar curriculum, which is different from the 2013 curriculum. History subjects in the independent learning curriculum are a combination of specialization and compulsory history. In addition, in phase E or grade X, history subjects are combined with other subjects such as sociology, economics, and geography into social studies. However, in phase F or grades XI and XII history subjects are independent. In the implementation of an independent learning curriculum, history teachers must be able to combine various methods and models as well as the use of technology to produce fun and independent learning in accordance with the profile of Pancasila students.

Abstract

The main problem faced by history teachers is that historical materials are often perceived as abstract and less engaging, and many teachers are not yet accustomed to using digital media such as Prezi effectively. This training aimed to equip teachers with the skills to design engaging history learning materials that align with the characteristics of digital native students through the use of Prezi. The activity was conducted at Universitas Tanjungpura and involved 15 senior high school history teachers in Pontianak City who are members of the History MGMP, as well as pre-service teachers. The core workshop was held on September 20, 2025, using a training–practice–mentoring model that integrated conceptual delivery, hands-on practice, and technical assistance. The results showed a significant positive impact, as participants improved their understanding of digital native learning behaviors and their technical skills in operating Prezi. Teachers were able to present history materials in a more dynamic and interactive manner, reflecting the integration of technological and pedagogical knowledge (TPACK). Participants’ questionnaire responses also indicated very positive perceptions of the usefulness and quality of the training.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the use of technology in history learning in high schools in Pontianak City from a social and cultural perspective. The research method uses a qualitative approach with a case study design to explore in depth the forms of technology used, teaching strategies, teacher and student perceptions, and obstacles encountered in the learning process. The findings demonstrate the widespread use of technologies like projectors, smartphones, design applications, and digital platforms in history education. Technology is considered capable of increasing student engagement, strengthening the visualization of materials, and creating more engaging learning. However, social challenges such as digital distractions, decreased direct interaction, and dependence on AI are beginning to appear in the learning process. From a cultural perspective, the dominance of global content and the limited availability of local digital resources pose obstacles to maintaining students' cultural identity. Teachers overcome these obstacles through critical digital literacy, local content curation, collaborative assignments, and the creation of media based on regional history. This study emphasizes the importance of using technology wisely and contextually to ensure that history learning remains aligned with socio-cultural values. The results of the research are recommended as a reference for developing school policies and teacher training to improve the quality of history learning in the digital era.
