Abstract

The purpose of this research is to see how effective the learning media that have been designed are. The method used in this research stage is development research, in which learning media based on the Comic Life assisted set materials are developed.  This Study included 54 students from Bandung and 114 students from Ngamprah Subdistrict from the Junior High School association VII grade level. In the development of media, there are four stages of research namely define; design; develop; disseminate. The stage result in an average data validation of the material expert of 76.3% for the first stage and 80.8%% for the second stage. Stage I validation findings were 53.3%, stage II validation was 74%, and stage III validation was 81%. Student replies of 76% and instructor responses of 78% revealed the findings of the validation in limited trials and broad trials. Meanwhile, 79.5% of student responded positively during product testing. The level of efficacy of learning media utilizing Comic Life is attained with an N-Gain of 0.34, implying that the level of effectiveness of Comic Life assisted learning is quite effective. According to the findings of the mathematical communication and disposition exam, students who study using the Problem Based Learning approach with Comic Life have a better-mathematical abilities than those who learn conventional learning. In terms of mathematical disposition, it can be determined that students who utilize the Comic Life assisted Problem Based Learning technique have a better mathematical disposition than those use conventional learning. This development research is based on the learning design produced and the characteristics of students.

Abstract

Development of teaching materials on PLSV material using combination of scientific and contextual approach to improve mathematical communication ability and self confidence to seventh grade junior high school students. The purpose of this research and development is to obtain a design for developing  mathematical teaching materials in the form of lesson plans and worksheet with combination of scientific and contextual approaches to PLSV material for smpn 3 cipeundeuythis study also aims to test the level of validity, practicality, and effectiveness of teaching materials with a combination of scientific and contextual approaches to PLSV material. This research is a development research. The results showed that based on the assessment of material experts and mathematics teachers, the teaching materials developed had very valid criteria with an average total score of 190.33 for lesson plans and 297.5 for worksheets. Based on the results of filling out questions on communication skills and student responses questionnaires about self-confidence, there has been a significant increase. So it can be concluded that with the development of teaching materials by combining scientific and contextual approaches with the results of filling out observations of the implementation of learning and the results of evaluating learning outcomes, it can be concluded that the teaching materials developed have a very good level of effectiveness with the percentage of learning implementation of 94.87% and the percentage of completeness students to 95%.

Abstract

The background of this study is that the unsatisfactory student’s grade  on mathematical reasoning ability (MRA) tasks.  Even though MRA is an ability that needs to be possessed by high school students. To overcome this problem, we carried out an experiment for improving  students' MRA and mathematical resiliency (MR) through Inductive -deductive approach (IDA) and based on student’s cognitive stage (CS). The research involved 68 eleventh grade students with 16.5 years old from a high school in Bandung Indonesia. The instruments of this study were the MRA, TOLT and MR scale. The study found that as many as 29.4% student were at concrete  stage, 51.5 % at transition stage, and  19.1% at formal stage.  Overall and based on student’s cognitive stage, the study found that the grades of MRA and MR of students who obtained IDA were better than the grades of students who taught by  discovery learning approach (DLA). Based on students' cognitive stages, there was no difference grades of MRA and MR in the two teaching approaches. Beside that, study found that there were no interaction between teaching approaches and cognitive stage on student’s MRAand MR and  the IDA took  higher  role than the cognitive stage on obtaining student’s MRA,  and MR.  It was also found that students taught by DLA experienced more difficulty in completing MRA tasks. Beside that,  there was moderate  association between  MRA, and MR, but there were no association between MRA and CS and between MR and CS.  In addition, students performed active learning  during the IDA lessons such as to discuss acitvely, to solve problems enthutiastically, and to present their work in front of the class voluntary

Abstract

This study aims to develop teaching material in the form of a mathematics learning module on SPLDV material and to improve students' metacognitive abilities and also students' learning independence. This research was conducted in four junior high schools as a place for the initial field test, the main field test, and the operational field test. The indicator of the success of this research is seen from the level of validation given by the validator, namely material experts and media experts of 75%. As for the success of learning, it can be seen from the significance obtained from the statistical test results from the results of the metacognitive ability test and student learning independence questionnaire. The results of this development research showed that: 1) The results of the validation test of the two experts found that the teaching materials developed were in good classification with a percentage of 89.4% for material experts and 83.3% for media experts. This means that the teaching materials meet the classification to good practice and implementation. So it is feasible to use and be tested. 2) At the product trial stage, students' responses to the teaching materials were quite good with a percentage of 81.28% for the initial field trial and 83.01% for the main field test. Student responses to learning using the teaching materials that were developed also had good criteria at the time of operational trials with a percentage of 78%, 3) from the results of statistical tests with a significance level of 0.05, metacognitive abilities, and student learning independence using the developed teaching materials had increased. significant. So that the development of teaching materials can affect the mastery of students' mathematical and affective abilities.
