Abstract

This study investigates the digital reading literacy of pre-service English teachers from the perspectives of their educators in teacher training institutions. By exploring how educators perceive, assess, and address the digital reading skills of future English teachers, this research aims to shed light on the challenges and opportunities present in developing this particular literacy. Data were collected through deep interviews and questionnaires distributed to five educators of an English education program from a school of teacher training in Indonesia. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis. Findings reveal four main themes; Digital reading literacy of pre-service English teachers; Integration of technology into teaching and learning context;  Challenges in developing digital reading literacy; and Institutional and curriculum support. Then, it is found that while digital reading literacy is increasingly recognized as essential for future English teachers, significant gaps remain in terms of increasing pre-service English teachers’ motivation and autonomous learning capacity and integrating digital reading skills into the curriculum and classroom practices. The study concludes with recommendations for enhancing digital reading literacy instruction in the classrooms and supporting educators in adopting strategies to improve students’ digital reading literacy through providing sufficient training and embedding this literacy into the curriculum.

Abstract

This research investigates the relationships between Net Profit Margin (NPM), Debt-to-Equity Ratio (DER), Earnings per Share (EPS), and stock prices within the context of the Indonesian stock market. Utilizing a quantitative analysis approach, the study employs panel data regression to assess the statistical significance of these financial metrics on stock valuations. The findings reveal that NPM has a meaningful and statistically significant positive impact on stock prices, indicating that higher profit margins are associated with increased investor confidence and market valuation. Conversely, the results show that DER does not significantly influence stock prices, suggesting that investors may perceive high debt levels as a risk that diminishes stock value. Furthermore, the study finds that EPS does not moderate the relationship between NPM and stock prices, nor does it strengthen the effect of DER on stock valuations. These conclusions contribute to understanding financial determinants in stock price movements, emphasizing the importance of profit margins while highlighting the limited role of leverage and earnings per share in this context. The research provides recommendations for investors and corporate managers and suggests avenues for future studies, including broader geographic comparisons and integrating qualitative factors into stock valuation analysis.

Abstract

A great number of studies researching the incorporation of AI into English language teaching have grown significantly within the last five years. Nevertheless, to date, limited studies have been found to specifically review studies regarding AI integration in English language teaching. To fill the gap, this meta-synthesis study aims at presenting a summary of qualitative literature exploring how AI is integrated in English language teaching. Sixteen out of forty-seven articles were selected from various reputable databases as well as peer-reviewed journals (i.e., Scopus indexed) including Taylor & Francis, Science Direct, Wiley, Emerald, and ProQuest. Only qualitative data were processed and analysed thematically. Findings revealed some emerging themes: 1) student and teacher’s views towards AI integration in ELT, 2) benefits and drawbacks of AI integration in ELT, and 3) the role of AI for language skill improvement. In addition, the study shed light on several research topics recommended for further research.

Abstract

While existing research on copywriting primarily assesses the impact of promotional content on audiences, there is a notable lack of studies exploring how copywriting is taught and practiced within language education. This study addresses this gap by examining the strategies employed by English language students at a state polytechnic in Indonesia as they create tourism promotional videos. Utilizing a qualitative content analysis approach, the research investigates students' final reports to identify key patterns and gaps in their copywriting practices. Findings reveal that while students demonstrated creativity and effectively showcases local cultural and natural attractions through engaging language, their work often lacked depth in audience profiling, inclusion of practical travel information, and alignment between video duration and selected media platforms. These limitations reduced the communicative effectiveness of their content. The study highlights the importance of integrating copywriting instruction into English for Specific Purposes (ESP) curricula, particularly in vocational education, to better prepare students for real-world communication tasks. Implications for ESP course design and project-based learning in language instruction are also discussed.

Abstract

Podcasting has become a common phenomenon among Indonesian youth which can draw pragmatic attention. This study investigates the types of deixis used in Raditya Dika’s podcast and analyzes factors that influence its uses. The data of this qualitative research were verbal communication in some selected episodes of podcast programs. Furthermore, the data were analyzed by Levinson’s (1983) about deixis use and Holmes’ (2013) about factor. Analysis found four types of deixis; person, time, discourse, and place. The most dominant used was person deixis with 644 occurrences (86%) to show knowledge-sharing. The findings indicate that the use of different deixis was due to some factors such as social distance or solidarity, status or power, formality, and function.

Abstract

Teaching English as Foreign Language to Indonesian students encourages teachers to motivate them in their language study by getting them to engage in successful writing and speaking skills. It can be early learning as relevant as possible to their language use needs. Based on a qualitative design, this study investigated the way an English teacher of eleventh-grade students used an integrated skills approach to teaching writing and speaking in the classroom.  The research was conducted at one of the senior high schools in West Java, Indonesia with a qualitative method to explore deep information about the strategies and challenges encountered by the English teacher when she was teaching. The specific strategy revealed that the teacher organized activities and encouraged the students through Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) including other strategies to overcome the challenges such as providing consultation and providing learning at night as an extra class. This study is expected to chronicle the need for this approach to be incorporated by English teachers in secondary schools to improve English teaching strategy today and future.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze phonological, morphological, syntactic, and semantic errors in the writing of students of the Arabic Language Education Study Program. Language errors in Arabic academic writing by students are a significant challenge in advanced Arabic language learning.  The method used is qualitative analysis with a descriptive approach, based on the corpus of student writing data in the writing skills course. The results of the study showed that syntactic errors were the most dominant (37.5%), followed by morphological (29.2%), phonological (16.7%), and semantic (16.7%). The main causal factors include mother tongue interference, the use of literal machine translators, low understanding of Arabic grammar rules, and minimal contextual practice. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the need for an integrative and communicative learning approach, with an emphasis on authentic text-based exercises, contrastive analysis strategies, and the use of interactive learning media to improve students' linguistic accuracy in writing Arabic academic texts.

Abstract

This study aim to investigates research trends and conceptual developments in contrastive analysis (CA) and error analysis (EA) within Arabic language education from 2013 to 2025 using method a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. Thirty peer-reviewed articles from reputable national and international journals were selected based on inclusion criteria concerning topic relevance, methodological rigor, and empirical contribution. The findings reveal a paradigm shift from structural linguistics toward interdisciplinary approaches integrating psycholinguistic, sociocognitive, and educational technology perspectives. Despite the prevalence of descriptive studies and the limited integration of CA and EA in pedagogy, recent works indicate a growing adoption of data-driven learning and artificial intelligence (AI) tools for automated error detection. This review proposes the Contrastive–Error Diagnostic Framework as an integrative conceptual model linking the predictive and diagnostic dimensions of CA and EA in Arabic language teaching. Limitations include the restricted geographical scope and lack of longitudinal or corpus-based studies. Future research should focus on digital learning analytics to empirically validate the proposed framework and enhance Arabic language pedagogy in the digital era.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of Financial Report Quality (FRQ) on Investment Efficiency (IE), with Debt Maturity (DM) as a moderating variable. High-quality financial reporting is expected to reduce information asymmetry and support optimal investment decisions, while the structure of debt maturity may strengthen or weaken this relationship. The research uses secondary data from the financial statements of companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) over the period 2020–2024. The sample is selected using purposive sampling, resulting in a final set of firms that meet the criteria for analysis. Variables are measured using established proxies, and the data is analyzed with Partial Least Squares (PLS) to test measurement validity, reliability, and structural relationships. Results indicate that FRQ significantly enhances IE, and DM plays a moderating role in strengthening this relationship. The findings provide practical implications for corporate managers in structuring financial reporting and debt maturity to achieve better investment efficiency. This research also contributes to the literature by integrating FRQ and DM within the investment efficiency framework.
