Abstract

Mathematical communication is the ability to express ideas or mathematical ideas both orally and in writing. Success in learning mathematics influenced cognitive aspects such as mathematical ability, affective aspects such as self concept, and gender differences. The method in this research using quantitative approach with the method correlational which aims to know the influence of gender and self concept towards the achievement of mathematical communication of junior high school students in the matter of building a rectangular flat. The population of this study is all students of class VII in one of the State Junior High School in West Bandung with selected sample of 11 female students and 16 male students. The instrument used consisted of a test of mathematical communication skills in the form of a description consisting of seven items and non-test instruments consisting of 10 positive statements and 10 negative statements of self concept. The result of this research shows that gender differences influence to students' mathematical communication ability. Female students are more dominant in terms of cognitive and answer math problems in writing with complete than male students. In addition, students' mathematical communication skills are not influenced by self concept.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between self-confidence with students' mathematical communication skills. This research uses expost pacto method with correlation analysis technique. The population in this study is all students of class IX in one of the SMP Negri in Cimahi city (IX.A - IX.N) with the number of 504 students / The academic year 2017/2018. As for the sample in this study is the students of SMP class IX N with the number of 36 students / i. In this study using cluster random sampling technique that is random sampling. In the data collection is by using the questionnaire instrument (self-confidence questionnaire) and test of mathematical communication skills. Further data is analyzed quantitatively by using Pearson correlation formula in SPSS application. The results showed that there was a positive relationship between self-confidence with students' mathematical communication ability, with correlation coefficient value of 0.865 and Sig. (2-tailed) 0.000.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh masih rendahnya kemampuan komunikasi matematik siswa Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP) di Kabupaten Bandung Barat, sehingga memerlukan penyelesaian yang dapat mengatasi permasalahan tersebut. Salah satu alternatif dalam pembelajaran yang digunakan adalah pendekatan Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menelaah hasil pengaruh pendekatan Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) terhadap peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematik siswa SMP. Metode yang digunakan dalam peneitian ini adalahkuasi eksperimen dengan penelitian dalam bentuk the non-equivalent petest-posttest control group design, yaitu sebelum penelitian kedua kelompok diberi pretes, di akhir pembelajaran kedua kelompok diberi tes akhir (postes). Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa SMP di Kabupaten Bandung Barat yang karakteristiknya memiliki kemampuan komunikasi matematik yang rendah, dari seluruh SMP di Kabupaten Bandung Barat dipilihlah SMP Bhakti Mulya Batujajar yang mewakili karakteristik populasi. Sampelnya terdiri dari dua kelas, yaitu kelas VII-C sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VII-D sebagai kelas kontrol. Pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini berupa tes uraian sebanyak 5 soal kemampuan komunikasi matematik yang telah diujicobakan, kemudian data skor kemampuan komunikasi matematik tersebut dianalisis menggunakan software SPSS 20 dan software Minitab. 17. Dari hasil penelitian, baik dari hasil analisis data maupun pengujian hipotesis, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematik siswa SMP di Kabupaten Bandung Barat yang pembelajarannya menggunakan pendekatan CTL lebih baik daripada yang menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional.

Abstract

Problem-solving ability is the ability to solve non-routine problems related to everyday life. Problem-solving learning more focuses on processes and strategies. So the process skills and strategies for solving a problem become the essential capability that must be owned in mathematics learning. The purpose of this study is to know the effect of problem-based learning approach to the problem-solving ability of junior high school students. The research method used in this research is the experimental method. The population taken in this research is all of VII grade student SMP Negeri 2 Cimahi. As a sample, the researcher took a random class, where grade VII-1 with the number of 34 students was used as the experimental class and class VII-2 with the total of 34 students used as control class. The instrument used in this research that is in the form of problem description of problem-solving ability mathematics consists of 5 item. The results of this study indicate that the problem-solving ability of the mathematical group of students whose learning using problem-based learning approaches better than the group of students whose learning using ordinary learning.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the mathematical communication abilities in terms of selft concept of studens of class VIII junior high school 10 Cimahi. This research method is included in this type of research descriptive research is qualitative, describes approach the errors of students in answering questions mathematical communication seen from selft concept. The research in the test to 22 students in the sample in this study is 9 students. The determination of the sampling is done by taking the 3 students that have high self concept, 3 students who have self concept, and 3 student have low self concept. The result of data analysis showed the ability of mathematical communication for students who have hgh self concept that is 2 students showed the test of mathematical communication ability enough and 1 student low. Mathematical communication skills for students who have a moderate self concept that is 2 students showed good mathematical cominication ability test and 1 low students. The ability of mathematical communication for students who have a low selft concept that is 2 student showed less mathematical ability test and 1 students enough.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the differences in the improvement of mathematical problem-solving abilities of MTs students with an open-ended approach and conventional learning. In this research the researchers applied quasi-experimental method, where the samples in this research are students of class VII MTs in Cianjur district and take the subject of students of MTs Tanwiriyyah class VII I a total of 41 students as experimental class who get the learning treatment using the approach Open-Ended and class VII H totaling 40 students as control class that get conventional learning. In this study the instrument that applied the test instrument of the problem-solving ability of mathematics as much as 4 item. The result of N-Gain data analysis using t` test shows students' mathematical problem-solving ability of the experimental class is better than the control class.

Abstract

This research has a purpose to find out the efficiency of of using education videos to increase the vocational high school students’ mathematical communication ability. The method used for this research was a quasi experiment method where the researcher took two classes as research samples. The first class was the experimental class where the students were shown the education videos and the second class was the control class where the students were taught as usual. The materials which were used for this research was a linear program. The research’s populations were the tenth grade students of SMK AL-Halim Garut with class X Multimedia and X Teknik Komputer dan Jaringan (TKJ) (Class of Computer Techniques and Network)as the samples. From the result of the first normality data analysis test (Pre-test), it was found that the experimental class did not distribute normally, therefore, the research continued by using Mann Whitney’s experiment. Sig.0.456 > 0.05 was resulted from the count, therefore H0 was accepted, it meant that there was no difference between the experimental class and control class. Meanwhile, on the final test (Post-test), the scores of both classes did not distribute normally, therefore Mann Whitney’s experiment was used again to find out. Sig.0.000 > 0.05 was resulted from the count, therefore H0 was rejected. In conclusion, “The efficiency of the students’ mathematical communication ability who got the education videos was more effective than those who were taught as usual on the linear program material”

Abstract

This study aims to determine the critical thinking skills of mathematics in one of the high schools in the city of Cimahi with indicators of mathematical critical thinking skills used are Analyzing and evaluating arguments and evidence, Arranging clarification, Arranging explanations based on relevant and irrelevant data, Identifying and evaluating assumptions . The method of this research is qualitative with descriptive research types. The research subjects were 76 students in one city of Cimahi. The data collection technique used in this study was a test of four items. Data analysis was carried out with 3 steps, namely data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the average achievement test of students' mathematical critical thinking skills as a whole is still relatively low in the percentage of each indicator, 34% for indicators compose clarification, 5% analyze and evaluate arguments and evidence, 10% Prepare explanations based on relevant data and those that do not relevant and 64% Identifying and evaluating assumptions

Abstract

National character development is seen as a collective-systemic effort of a nation-state to bring into reality the life of the nation and state in accordance with its foundations and ideology, constitution, state direction, and its collective potential in the context of civilized national, regional and global life to form a nation that is strong, competitive, with noble character, moral, tolerant, mutual cooperation, patriotic, dynamic, cultured and science-oriented based on Pancasila and imbued with iman and taqwa to Allah The Almighty. The 21st century is known to everyone as the age of knowledge, main foundation for various aspects of life. The 21st century learning paradigm emphasizes the ability of students to think critically, be able to connect knowledge with the real world, master information technology, communicate and collaborate. The achievement of these skills can be achieved by applying appropriate learning methods in terms of materials and skills mastery.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan informasi dan pemahaman kepada guru-guru di Sekolah Dasar Satu Atap Nagrog Wanayasa Purwakarta mengenai pentingnya layanan bimbingan karir bagi siswa kelas VI. Penyampaian materi diakukan dalam bentuk ceramah dan diskusi. Hasil dari kegiatan ini mendapatkan apresiasi positif dari guru-guru terkait dengan pemahaman urgensinya layanan bimbingan karir untuk peserta didik kelas VI, dalam rangka memberikan pembelakan kesiapan bagi peserta didik untuk memilih melanjutkan pendidikan ke jenjang berikutnya seperti ke SMP atau Pesantren. Kata Kunci : bimbingan karir, sekolah dasar.
