Abstract

Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease caused by impaired insulin secretion and insulin resistance, and is influenced by various risk factors such as age, diet, stress, and lack of physical activity. Complications caused by this disease include microvascular and macrovascular disorders, one of which is peripheral perfusion disorders that can be detected through an Ankle Brachial Index (ABI) examination. This study aims to determine the value of blood pressure and ABI in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in the working area of the Kabila Health Center, Bone Bolango Regency. The study used a descriptive quantitative method with a quasi experimental design and purposive sampling technique, involving 33 respondents. The results showed that 69.7% of respondents had high blood pressure and all respondents (100%) showed ABI values in the category of mild obstruction (0.71–0.89). These findings indicate that type 2 DM patients in the region are at risk of peripheral blood circulation disorders even though they have not shown severe clinical symptoms. Factors of age, physical activity, and the length of time you have been suffering from diabetes are factors that affect the value of ABI. It is recommended that future studies use larger samples and more accurate examination methods such as vascular doppler for more valid results.

Abstract

Chicken coops are one of the places where pathogenic microorganisms develop that can cause problems for the health of chickens and the surrounding community, so sterilization efforts are necessary. This study aims to compare the effectiveness of eco enzyme liquid from orange and pineapple peel waste in reducing the number of bacteria in chicken coops. A type of pre-experimental research with a one-shot case study design. The samples in this study are two chicken coop samples that were treated each using orange and pineapple eco enzyme liquid . Data collection was carried out before and after treatment with the pour plate method. The data was analyzed using Paired Sample T-Test and Independent Sample T-Test with an error rate of 5%. The results of this study showed that there was a significant decrease in the number of bacterial colonies in cage A (orange) and cage B (pineapple), with significance values of p=0.002 and p=0.001, respectively. However, the results of the comparison test between cages showed no significant difference in the results after treatment (p=0.967). This shows that both eco enzyme liquids are equally effective in reducing the number of bacteria. It is recommended to test the number of bacteria also on other disinfectants to see how much advantages and disadvantages of eco enzymes are compared to commonly used disinfectants.

Abstract

Aedes sp. mosquitoes are the main vector of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) which is a public health problem. Chemical-based mosquito control efforts tend to cause resistance and environmental impacts, so safer natural alternatives are needed. This study aims to test the effectiveness of the combination of essential oils of sweet lemongrass leaves and musk orange peel in the preparation of used cooking oil-based aromatherapy candles as a repellent of Aedes sp. mosquitoes. This type of pure experimental research (true experiment) using a complete random design (RAL). The population in this study was Aedes sp. mosquitoes and a sample of 300 mosquitoes using one control and three treatments with a concentration of 10% fragrant lemongrass leaves, 10% musk orange peel, and 10% combination of both with 3 repeats for 3 hours of observation. The data was analyzed using the Anova One-Way test with an error rate (?) of 5%. The results of the study showed that aromatherapy wax preparations from essential oils of fragrant lemongrass leaves, musk orange peel and a combination of both with a concentration of 10% can kill mosquitoes 56%, 32% and 92% respectively. There is a significant difference with (p-value = 0.000<0.05). Further development of this aromatherapy wax formulation with variations in concentration is recommended to optimize its effectiveness as a repellent.

Abstract

Non-auditory effect complaints are the effects of noise that are not related to the auditory effect hearing function, including physiological, psychological, and communication disorders such as fatigue, stress, and concentration disorders, which are common in workers with high noise exposure, including in the rice milling industry. This study aims to determine the relationship between noise intensity, working period, and duration of exposure with non-auditory complaints in rice milling workers in Kabila and Tilongkabila Districts, Bone Bolango Regency. The type of research used in this study is Observational Analysis with a cross sectional research design. The population in this study used a total sampling technique. The number of samples in this study is as many as 70 workers in nine rice milling units in Kabila & Tilongkabila districts, Bone Bolango Regency. The data analysis method used is the Chi-square test. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between working time with (p-value = 0.006), while noise intensity was not significantly related to (p-value = 0.946) and length of exposure there was a significant relationship with (p-value = 0.000) with non-auditory effect complaints rice mill workers in Kabila & Tilongkabila district, Bone Bolango Regency. Workers are expected to increase awareness in maintaining occupational health by using ear protection regularly, making good use of rest time, and immediately reporting complaints such as fatigue, stress, and concentration disorders.

Abstract

Hypertension in adolescents is an increasing health problem due to lifestyle changes. This study aims to identify risk factors for hypertension in urban adolescents using the data mining method with the Decision Tree C4.5 algorithm on RapidMiner. This quantitative research involved 130 adolescents aged 15–19 years in the working area of the Dumbo Raya Health Center, Gorontalo City. The variables analyzed included genetic factors, obesity, stress, smoking, excessive salt consumption, coffee consumption, sleep duration, and hypertension status. The data was processed through the preprocessing stage, the formation of the C4.5 Decision Tree model, and evaluation using a confusion matrix with an 80:20 training and testing data division. The results showed that sleep duration was the most dominant factor, followed by coffee consumption, genetic factors, obesity, excessive salt consumption, smoking, and stress. The model produces an accuracy of 88.46% and is able to form easy-to-understand classification rules. The Decision Tree C4.5 algorithm is effectively used to support early detection of hypertension in adolescents.
