Abstract

This research .was based on the results of a preliminary study conducted at SMPN 16 Padang, which showed that students' cognitive learning outcomes were still not optimal in science learning. This research aims to determine the influence of the video-assisted Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on learning outcomes for Indonesian Ecology and Biodiversity Material. This type of research is a quasi experiment with a non equivalent control group design research design. The population in this study were all the 7th grader at SMPN 16 Padang. Sampling used purposive sampling technique. So we obtained one experimental class by applying the video-assisted Problem Based Learning model, namely class VII.6 and one control class with the conventional learning model, namely class VII.7. Data collection was carried out through pre-test and post-test. The data obtained were analyzed using inferential statistical analysis and the results obtained from the similarity test of the two pre-test and post-test averages were respectively 0.067 for the pre-test sig, and 0.000 for the post-test sig, which means that H0 is rejected or there is a significant difference in both classes because sig < 0.05. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a significant influence of the application of the video-assisted PBL model on the learning outcomes of Indonesian ecology and biodiversity material.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efektivitas penggunaan game edukasi dalam menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang kondusif pada materi sistem ekskresi di kelas VIII A SMP Negeri 1 Padang. Penelitian tindakan kelas ini dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus dengan pendekatan model inkuiri terbimbing yang dilengkapi teknik reward dan punishment. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, angket, dan tes hasil belajar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan game edukasi secara tepat mampu meningkatkan motivasi belajar, kedisiplinan siswa, serta menciptakan suasana pembelajaran yang aktif dan kondusif. Simpulan dari penelitian ini adalah penggunaan game edukasi yang terintegrasi dalam pembelajaran IPA terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan kualitas lingkungan belajar.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan kognitif siswa dalam mata pelajaran IPA pada materi Sistem Ekskresi melalui penerapan model Problem-Based Learning (PBL) yang dikombinasikan dengan pendekatan Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus di kelas VIII C SMP Negeri 1 Padang, melibatkan 34 siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan pada kemampuan kognitif siswa, dari rata-rata nilai 68 pada siklus I menjadi 83 pada siklus II. Kombinasi PBL dan TaRL efektif dalam meningkatkan keterlibatan siswa, mendorong berpikir kritis, serta memperdalam pemahaman konsep IPA.

Abstract

Penelitian ini didasari dari permasalahan rendahnya capaian prestasi belajar peserta didik dalam pembelajaran IPA, yang dipengaruhi oleh kurangnya keterlibatan aktif peserta didik serta terbatasnya penggunaan media yang menyajikan materi secara menarik serta memungkinkan terjadinya komunikasi aktif antara peserta didik dan materi ajar. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis pengaruh model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TGT yang dikombinasikan dengan media flash card terhadap capaian hasil belajar peserta didik pada kelas VII. Pendekatan dalam penelitian ini bersifat kuantitatif dengan metode eksperimen semu melalui desain Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Sampel ditentukan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling yang terdiri dari dua kelas yaitu eksperimen dan kontrol. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan meliputi tes hasil belajar, lembar observasi keterlaksanaan pembelajaran, serta angket respon peserta didik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa implementasi model TGT berbantuan media flash card berjalan sangat optimal, memperoleh tanggapan positif dari peserta didik. Berdasarkan hasil analisis hipotesis yaitu uji-t, didapatkan nilai signifikansi 0,004 < 0,05, yang menunjukkan terdapat pengaruh model pembelajaran TGT berbantuan media flash card terhadap hasil belajar peserta didik. Dengan demikian, model pembelajaran ini terbukti efektif dalam peningkatan capaian hasil belajar peserta didik.

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to determine whether the effect of differentiated learning processes with the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on students' critical thinking skills at SMP Negeri 1 Candung. The type of research used is quantitative using a quasi-experimental method with a Non-Equivalent Control Group Design. The differentiated learning process with the PBL model is applied to the experimental class while the control class uses conventional learning methods. The sampling technique is purposive sampling. The research instrument uses observation sheets, questionnaires and objective test questions. Data analysis uses normality tests, homogeneity tests and hypothesis tests. Based on the questionnaire, the implementation of differentiated learning processes with the Problem Based Learning model in the experimental class is 98.01%. The statistical analysis test in this study uses Microsoft Excel. Based on the results of the hypothesis test, the t count value is 2.240 and the t table is 2.001. So t count ≥ t table shows that there is a difference in the average between the experimental class and the control class. This means that there is a difference in the average critical thinking ability of students in the differentiated learning process with the PBL model at SMP Negeri 1 Candung. Meanwhile, students' responses to teachers in the learning process received a positive response from students of 94%.

Abstract

This research was motivated by teacher-centered learning, which leads to students not actively participating in the learning process and it affects their learning outcomes. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of applying the Discovery Learning model on student learning outcomes in science subjects for Grade VII students in junior high school. This study employed a quasi-experimental method, using a non-equivalent control group design. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, with class VII-3 assigned as the control group using a conventional learning model, and class VII-4 as the experimental group which used the Discovery Learning model assisted by video. The research instrument was a multiple-choice written test. The data collected were analyzed using a normality test, a homogeneity test, and a hypothesis test. Based on the results of the hypothesis test, there was a significant difference in the average scores between the control and experimental classes. This is evidenced by the t-test results, where tcount=2.776 > ttable=2.004. Therefore, H₀ is rejected and Hₐ is accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that the application of Discovery Learning model assisted by video has a significant effect on students' learning outcomes.

Abstract

Misconceptions are erroneous understandings of concepts that tend to persist and are difficult to change, hindering learning processes and affecting student learning outcomes. In science education, misconceptions frequently occur in highly complex concepts, particularly in temperature, heat, and thermal expansion topics. This occurs because these concepts are abstract and everyday phenomena do not always align with scientific concepts. Therefore, identifying and analyzing student misconceptions becomes crucial. This study aims to analyze students' misconception profiles on temperature, heat, and thermal expansion topics using four tier test instruments. This research employed descriptive quantitative methods with a population of all grade VII advanced students from A-accredited junior high schools in West Padang Panjang District during the second semester of 2025/2026 academic year. The sampling technique used total sampling. The research sample consisted of grade VII advanced students from three schools: SMPN 1, SMPN 2, and SMPN 4 Padang Panjang. The research instrument comprised 19 four tier test questions with four levels: concept answers, answer confidence levels, reasoning for answer selection, and reasoning confidence levels. Results showed an average percentage of students experiencing misconceptions at 24% with low category. The misconception profile revealed two indicators in moderate category: explaining temperature concepts (31.5%) and determining factors affecting heat (32%), while nine other indicators were in low category ranging from 13%-29%. Identified misconception types included false positive, false negative, and pure misconceptions

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan model Problem Based Learning (PBL) dengan pembelajaran berdiferensiasi proses terhadap hasil belajar IPA peserta didik kelas VII SMPN 6 Bukittinggi. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah quasi experiment dengan rancangan Non Equivalent Control Group Design. Sampel penelitian terdiri atas satu kelas eksperimen yang memperoleh perlakuan dengan PBL berdiferensiasi proses dan satu kelas kontrol dengan pembelajaran konvensional. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes hasil belajar, lembar observasi keterlaksanaan, serta angket respon peserta didik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya perbedaan signifikan antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Rata-rata nilai posttest kelas eksperimen mencapai 72,68, sedangkan kelas kontrol hanya 62,49. Uji-t mengonfirmasi adanya pengaruh signifikan penerapan model tersebut. Selain itu, keterlaksanaan pembelajaran mencapai 97,42% dengan kategori sangat baik, dan respon peserta didik menunjukkan kecenderungan positif. Dengan demikian, penerapan PBL berdiferensiasi proses dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar sekaligus memotivasi peserta didik untuk lebih aktif dalam pembelajaran IPA.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Creative Problem-Solving (CPS) learning model on the creative thinking skills of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 29 Padang. The research employed a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group. The study was conducted at SMP Negeri 29 Padang, West Sumatra. The sample was selected using purposive sampling, consisting of 34 students from class VIII-9 as the experimental group and 34 students from class VIII-6 as the control group. The instrument used was a test in the form of essay questions. The results showed that the hypothesis was accepted, as the significance value obtained was less than 0.05. These findings suggest that the implementation of the Creative Problem-Solving learning model is an effective strategy for enhancing students’ creative thinking skills. Therefore, it is recommended that teachers integrate the CPS model into classroom instruction to encourage students to be more active, innovative, and capable of solving problems creatively.

Abstract

Contemporary science education aims to equip students with the competencies needed to address the complex challenges of the 21st century, particularly within the framework of Industry 4.0, where scientific literacy is recognized as a fundamental skill. However, students’ low levels of scientific literacy are often attributed to passive, text-based, and teacher-centered learning methods. This study aims to examine the effect of the Search, Solve, Create, and Share (SSCS) learning model on the scientific literacy of seventh-grade students at SMPN 5 Mandau in the topic Forms of Matter and Their Changes. The study employed a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group design. The sample consisted of two classes selected through purposive sampling. Research data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics with the aid of Microsoft Excel. The results of the hypothesis testing revealed a significant difference in the average scores between the two classes after the implementation of the SSCS learning model. The posttest analysis showed that the calculated t-value (tcount = 2.458) was greater than the critical t-value (ttable = 2.004), indicating that the SSCS learning model had a significant positive effect on students’ scientific literacy.
