Abstract

Burns are tissue damage or loss caused by contact with heat sources such as fire, hot water, chemicals, electricity and radiation. The grape plant has an activity of pharmacological effects, which are mainly present in its seeds and fruits. Grape seed extract containing proanthocyanidin can help wound healing by promoting neovascularization, extracellular matrix remodeling, fibrolastic cell migration and differentiation. Aloe vera leaves can be used to treat skin lesions, such as burns, irradiation damage and ischemic ulcers. In addition to being a hydrating and skin- protecting agent, this gel also has healing, analgesic, and anti-inflammatory activities because aloe vera contains vitamins C and E, essential amino acids, and polysaccharides that stimulate tissue growth and cell regeneration. The objective is to determine the effectivity of burn wound repair using grape seed extract and aloe vera. This research used 24 white rats weighing 150 to 200g that divided into 4 groups, positive control group, negative control group, 10% grape seed extract treatment group, and 10% aloe vera extract treatment group. This study used an experimental method with True Experimental design with Randomized Post-test only Control Group Design, by giving 10% concentration of grape seed extract and aloe vera extract with 10% concentration to rats that has been burnt.

Abstract

Music-based interventions have been widely explored as non-invasive approaches to emotional regulation and anxiety reduction. Within this context, alternative tuning frequencies—particularly 432 Hz and 528 Hz—are frequently used in therapeutic and wellness practices and are often claimed to exert distinct psychophysiological effects. However, empirical evidence supporting differential neural responses to these frequencies remains limited, and existing claims are rarely grounded in direct measurements of brain activity. This study aimed to empirically examine whether music tuned to 432 Hz and 528 Hz produces differential effects on neural oscillatory activity, as measured by brainwave patterns, with particular attention to indicators associated with relaxation and meditative states. A quantitative repeated-measures design was implemented. Ten undergraduate music education students (aged 19–21 years) from the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta participated. Each participant listened to the same musical composition presented in two tuning conditions (432 Hz and 528 Hz) in counterbalanced order. Neural activity was recorded using a single-channel EEG device (Neurosky MindWave), which provides spectral estimates of canonical brainwave bands. Delta-band amplitude was selected a priori as the primary outcome measure. Differences between tuning conditions were analyzed using paired-sample t-tests, supplemented by bootstrapping to address the small sample size. Both tuning conditions elicited increased delta-band dominance during music listening. However, no statistically significant difference in delta-band amplitude was observed between the 432 Hz and 528 Hz conditions (t(9) = −1.29, p = 0.229). Bootstrapped confidence intervals corroborated the absence of a reliable frequency-dependent effect. Under controlled within-subject conditions and using single-channel EEG-derived spectral estimates, no evidence was found for differential modulation of delta-band activity between music tuned to 432 Hz and 528 Hz. The results suggest that neural responses are more strongly driven by general musical engagement than by tuning frequency per se. Methodologically, the study highlights both the utility and limitations of low-density EEG for probing music-related neural oscillations and supports the need for future work employing higher spatial resolution EEG, baseline-corrected spectral analyses, and larger samples to test frequency-specific hypotheses with greater sensitivity.

Abstract

The study of biology offers students the opportunity to analyze environmental problems, including environmental pollution and its impact on ecosystem balance. This study aimed to develop flashcard learning media on water pollution sub-materials and to analyze their effectiveness in improving the understanding of grade X high school 1, Getasan, Semarang County Central Jawa. The research used the Research and Development (R & D) method, utilizing the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). In the analysis stage, the need of flashcard use for water pollution learning was identified. As many as 47 flashcards of 6 topics were made in the design stage. The flashcard material aspect and media aspect were validated with scores of 89,4% dand 88,6% respectively in the development stage. The N-Gain score of 0,40 in the implementation stage implied medium level improvement of student learning outcomes. Finally, At the evaluation stage, it was found that teacher and student’s responses were very effective based on their responses as 84.4% and 82,6% respectively. Overall, the flashcards of environmental pollution learning were appropriate to be used for grade x high school students.

Abstract

Background: Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) is a significant health issue in Indonesia, where management relies heavily on patient dietary adherence. However, adherence levels are often suboptimal. This study aimed to identify the factors associated with dietary adherence among T2DM patients at a major hospital in Medan, Indonesia. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in December 2024 at Royal Prima General Hospital, involving 64 T2DM patients selected through total sampling. Data on demographic characteristics, knowledge, family support, and healthcare provider (HCP) support were collected via structured questionnaires. Dietary adherence was the dependent variable. Data were analyzed using chi-square tests and multivariate logistic regression. Results: A slight majority of patients (53.1%) were adherent to their diet. Multivariate analysis identified age as the most dominant predictor, with patients aged ≥45 years being 18.9 times more likely to be adherent than younger patients (AOR = 18.935, p=0.004). Male gender was also a significant predictor of higher adherence (AOR = 7.652, p=0.01). Paradoxically, good knowledge (AOR = 0.161) and HCP support (AOR = 0.109) were significantly associated with lower odds of adherence. Education and employment status showed no significant association. Conclusion: Age is the most critical factor influencing dietary adherence among T2DM patients in this cohort, with older individuals demonstrating significantly better compliance. Interventions should specifically target younger patients and women, who are at higher risk for non-adherence.
