Abstract

The purpose of this study is to proved that musik reinterpretation is the most important aspect for both musikians and audiences in enjoying art musik. This is because in recent years there has been a declined in album sales and the number of audience for performing arts musik. So that the efforts of musikians to reinterpret various art musik repertoires by presenting new perspectives and impressions which in turn are expected to increased interest in art musik. The concept of emotion from Mehrabian-Russell in Bakker (1977) is used to understand the mechanism of emotional responses experienced by the audience after being treated by the modification of musikal reinterpretation. Then measurements were designed based on Westbrook & Reilly's theory of consumer satisfaction in Atila and Fisun Yüksel (2008) to identify the emotional responses which is the main factor in audiences satisfaction after listening to the repertoire being played. Mixed methods were used through a case study approach and a one-group experimental design with post-treatment measurements (One-group posttest-only design). Musikians recorded Allemande from Suite No. 6 for Johann Sebastian Bach's cello through the first video in the original style and in the second video, interpreting it in a romantic sense. Some of the musikal elements manipulated were tempo, dynamics, timbre and musikians' gestures. After the audience watched the two videos, they filled out a questionnaire to find out the emotional responses such as 'happy', 'joyful', 'sad', and 'bored'. The results showed that 56.4% did not experience pleasure and excitement when watching the first video. Then 73.8% of viewers experienced the emotions of 'fun' and 'joy' when watching the second video. The conclusion shows that reinterpretation of a repertoire is important because it can bring new perspectives and impressions to attract attention and give satisfaction to the audience.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a new discourse of eroticism based on the experience of sexual fantasy as an effort to find "self-meaning" through the practice of creating works of art. So far, the concept of eroticism is still widely misunderstood as a taboo that is narrowly interpreted as a reflection of sexuality through works of art, thus creating a negative impression and contradicting the values that develop in society. Eroticism contains a great essence as a concept that can bring the paradigm of sexuality to a different level. The psychoanalytic perspective, the theory of the Four Discourses, the Graph of Desire, and George Bataille's Transgression theory support synthesizing the new concept of eroticism as a manifestation of desire in fantasy. This is related to efforts to strengthen self-conceptualization of the sensation of fear of cruelty due to a strong association with transgressive behavior and longing for the fulfillment of a sense of loss. As a tool in realizing the above research, the Practice-led Research (PLR) Method is used, namely research driven by the practice of creating art, which is a way to systematically reflect and evaluate in creating works. Thus, creating works is carried out simultaneously in stages and back and forth. The results of this study are in the form of installation art, and illustration-augmented reality as a medium for manifesting the sensation of erotic experience (sexual fantasy). Based on the study conducted, three critical things were concluded as research findings: first, erotica can be used as a medium to reflect erotic experiences; second, the method of creating "Erotika Fantasiana" involves the experience of sexual fantasy as the main material object; the third, sexual fantasy that is full of the concept of transgression, experiencing pain, and efforts to restore "loss" of self-esteem through the fulfillment of the object of desire is an important element in the concept of "Erotika Fantasiana".

Abstract

As today teenagers have less appreciation for instrumental works from Baroque era, the objective of this research is to identify the indicators their music preference through timbre shifting of the musical instrument. In the context of the creative economy, this will open opportunities for art music to compete in the music industry. Music has been studied and observed for centuries, and even today, the works of great composers are associated with timeless creations. One factor that has contributed to the continued existence of music is its strong reliance on conductors during performances, especially when presented in orchestral format involving dozens of supporting musicians. Generally, not only do audiences watch a stage filled with musicians, but they also listen to the works of composers in various timbres. Some musics are performed in the form of solo, duet, or as ensemble. However, the challenge for musicians is that the majority of society do not understand art music well due to lack of knowledge and the prevalence of easily accepted popular music. It occurs because music education still upholds the tradition of classifying music into high and low art according to European concepts. Art music carries musicological elements rooted in mathematical discipline, which implicitly requires audiences to have a background in music knowledge, even during performances. In Indonesia, which is currently developing and strengthening its creative economy, creative breakthroughs are needed to make art music more popular and have a positive impact on musicians. In this study, the author implemented a quantitative method with a one-posttest design approach. The sample consisted of teenagers studying art music. The total sample was N=100, consisting of students in music performance vocational program who were given treatment by listening to a recorded toccata in D minor by JS Bach played on the organ and re-instrumented using the electric guitar, electric bass, and synthesizer. The results reveal that the subjects' preference for rock music is significantly influenced by personal preference with p<0.05. Particularly, the predictor of preference has a coefficient of R 0.900 with an R2 of 0.809, indicating that preference contributes 80.9% to the variability of the preferences. Therefore, it can be concluded that the renewing instrumentaion of Baroque music by shifting timbre of electric instruments with rock sensation has an influence on the musical preference of today youth. It happens especially when the ornamentation, one of the characteristic of Baroque music, is played with forte dynamic and blended technique, resulting in piercing and swinging sounds as an effect of electric guitar distortion.

Abstract

Introduction: Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disorder that is often associated with autoimmune conditions. Vaccination has been considered one of the external factors that can trigger psoriasis flare. Recently, there have been reports linking the COVID-19 vaccine to the occurrence of psoriasis flare. The objective of this study was to examine the impact of COVID-19 vaccination on the incidence of psoriasis flares in Indonesia. Methods: This web-based cross-sectional study utilized Google forms and was conducted from September 2020 to February 2021 in North Sumatera, Indonesia. The study included psoriasis patients aged less than 18 years who had received COVID-19 vaccines. Data were collected and analyzed descriptively. Result: Out of 130 respondents, most were women (60.8%) aged 26-35 years (33.1%) with a disease duration of 1-10 years (48.5%). The most common type of psoriasis before vaccination was plaque and scalp (20.4%). Approximately 80% had no history of COVID-19 infection prior to vaccination, and 71.5% received the Sinovac vaccine. Among them, 49 respondents (37.7%) experienced flares after vaccination, mainly following the first dose (57.1%) and predominantly with Sinovac (77.6%). Flares were more common in women (67.3%) aged 26-35 years (28.6%) with disease duration of 1-10 years (59.2%). Most flares occurred greater than 2 weeks after vaccination (51%), and the post-vaccination type of psoriasis was frequently plaque and scalp (24.5%). Conclusion: The incidence of psoriasis flares after COVID-19 vaccinations was 37.7%. The administration of COVID-19 vaccinations may play role as a potential trigger for flares in psoriasis patients.

Abstract

Researchers were interested in studying the impact of Community-based total sanitation on stunting in the service area of the Sei Bejangkar Health Center since the first survey indicated that 90 toddlers were stunted owing to the effects of inadequate sanitation. The study used a quantitative, cross-sectional methodology. This research was carried out near the Sei Bejangkar Health Center. All of the infants and toddlers in the puskesmas's operational region served as the study's population. Total sampling was used during the sampling process. Univariate, Bivariate, and Multivariate tests were utilized to analyze both main and secondary data in this study. Based on the data, it appears that there is no connection between the halt defecation movement and stunting in toddlers in the sei anchor health center's service area (P value of 0.529 or more than 0.05). Toddlers at the Sei Bejangkar Health Center are less likely to be stunted if open defecation is reduced. The p-value is 0.000, which means it's significantly larger than 0.05 (0.000 > 0.05).

Abstract

Mistletoe, a parasitic plant growing on nutmeg trees, is conventionally perceived as a parasitic entity with limited regard for its potential medicinal value. On the other hand, mistletoe has a remarkable potential source of valuable medicinal compounds, particularly in traditional healthcare, due to its secondary metabolites such as flavonoid, phenolic, ascorbic acid, and antioxidant activity. Nevertheless, both the host tree and the environment, like Pb, influence the adaptive responses of secondary metabolites. This study aimed to determine the secondary metabolites, such as flavonoids, phenolics, ascorbic acid, antioxidant activity, and Pb content in the leaves of D. vitellina and nutmeg (M. fragrans). The samples were obtained via maceration using ethanol. The spectrophotometric analysis method was used to measure several parameters, using particular reagents for phenolic compounds using Folin-Ciocalteu, flavonoids using AlCl3, and ascorbic acid using sulfosalicylic acid), antioxidant activity using DPPH, and Pb using the AAS method. The results indicated that D. vitellina possesses a higher concentration of flavonoid and phenolic compounds, followed by 3.36 ± 1.92 % (w/w) and 18.45 ± 2.35 % (w/w) respectively. Conversely, nutmeg had a significant ascorbic acid concentration of 3.99 ± 4.38 % (w/w). The significant presence of phenolics and flavonoids had a crucial role in the antioxidant activity seen in D. vitellina, which exhibited exceptionally potent antioxidant properties. All samples contain Pb, ranging from 0.00001–0.00021 % (w/w), within the maximum allowable limits. Therefore, mistletoe is notable for being a reliable and encouraging plant species that can provide a natural supply of antioxidants and be safely used in traditional medicine.

Abstract

All living things age physiologically. Free radicals attack cells as they age, causing damage, disruption, and death. Free radicals oxidize and damage cell membrane lipids. The body needs optimum antioxidants during oxidative stress. This study hypothesizes EVOO can lower MDA and total cholesterol and repair liver histopathology in hypercholesterolemic Wistar male rats—this research with a pre-post-test control group experiment. The study found that the control group's MDA level was 0.14 ± 0.03 nmol/ml before treatment (pretest), while the group given standard meal for mice and distilled water/day/head for 14 days had a drop to 0.13 ± 0.10 nmol/ml. In treatment group 1, the average MDA level was 0.73 ± 0.03 nmol/ml before treatment, and after 14 days of high-fat, high-cholesterol meal without EVOO, the average MDA level was 0.73 ± 0.03 nmol/ml and dropped to 0.48 ± 0.10 nmol/ml. Treatment group 2 had an average MDA level of 0.22 ± 0.02 nmol/ml before treatment, but after receiving a high-fat, high-cholesterol diet and a 1cc dose of EVOO for 14 days, it decreased to 0.17 ± 0.02 nmol/ml. Before therapy, the mean MDA level in group 3 was 0.17 ± 0.02 nmol/mL. Giving mice a lot of fat and cholesterol and a two cc dose of EVOO for 14 days lowered their MDA levels to 0.08 ± 0.01 nmol/ml, ranging from 0.10 to 0.05. The research concluded that average MDA decreased significantly in treatment group 3 after mice were fed high-fat, high-cholesterol feed and given two ccs of EVOO.
