Abstract

The study aimed at exploring students’ perception of implementing problem-based learning with blended learning in EFL academic reading. Quantitative and qualitative data were gained by applying a questionnaire and semi-structured interviews. The study occurred at the English Education Program at Muhammadiyah University of Mataram. The respondents involved in this research were thirty-four English foreign language (EFL) students who are joining an academic reading course. The result showed that students have positive perceptions of the use of problem-based learning with blended learning in teaching EFL academic reading. At the same time, the respondents found barriers preventing them from utilizing problem-based learning in teaching EFL academic reading such as requiring sufficient time to complete a topic or find out the solution to a problem, needing additional fees to buy internet quota, and needing prior knowledge in applying problem-based learning. Finally, the finding gained from two types of instruments recommended that PBL with blended learning can be applied in EFL academic reading.

Abstract

Knowledge is a combination of various elements such as experience, expert view that can be used as a basis to understand new experience or information. Knowledge will grow if it is shared. Knowledge sharing (KS) can happen is depend on enablers. One of them is high levels of trust. Research showed that there is a relationship between personality and interpersonal trust. The Big Five Personality (BFP) factors have been used to observe different personality traits. Those factors are Extraversion, Neuroticism, Openness to Experience, Agreeableness, and Conscientiousness. In this research project, the researcher wants to prove whether there is a relationship between the BFP factors and KS. Data were collected from undergraduate students from Faculty of Creative Multimedia (FCM) and Faculty of Management (FOM) in Multimedia University (MMU) to support the research. Based on the sample, this study determines which factors of the BFP that have potential to influence KS. This study cannot represent the generalisation of undergraduate students in Malaysian universities because of the small sample and the author only focused on one university. Recommendations have been given for other researchers who have desire to pursue their research in this topic. Kata Kunci : knowledge sharing, big five personality

Abstract

Purpose – This research investigates the influence of the Board of Directors (BOD) and the Board of Commissioners (BOC) on real earnings management (REM) practices in Indonesian manufacturing companies. Real earnings management involves genuine alterations to operational decisions that affect financial reporting.Design/methodology/approach – The research uses a sample of manufacturing firm listed on Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) from 2016 to 2022 and uses panel data regression techniques, including the Pooled Least Square (PLS) and Fixed Effect Model (FEM), to examine the effects of BOD and BOC characteristics on REM. The empirical analysis considers multiple proxies for BOD and BOC attributes, such as board size, independence, meeting frequency, and expertise. Additionally, control variables including leverage, firm size, and growth indicators are incorporated into the analysis.Findings – The findings reveal a significant positive relationship between the presence of BOD and REM activities. In contrast, the presence of BOC demonstrates a non-significant but negatively associated impact on REM. Furthermore, the research identifies the moderating role of BOC in strengthening the relationship between BOD and REM.Research limitations/implications – The research contributes to the existing literature by providing empirical insights into the roles of BOD and BOC in shaping REM practices within the Indonesian manufacturing context. These findings highlight the importance of board characteristics in influencing financial reporting decisions and emphasize the need for effective corporate governance mechanisms to mitigate opportunistic behaviors related to earnings management.Practical implications – Enhancing corporate governance practices, provide an input for more effective board composition, increase the investor confidence and transparency, enhance policy implications and provide advice for company’s long-term performance focus.Originality/value – This research addresses a gap in the literature by focusing on the Indonesian context. Use the BOC to moderate the relationship between BOD and REM may be less common in the context of Indonesia and even in regional focus.

Abstract

Tafsir lughawi mengalami perkembangan terutama dalam metode penulisan tafsir al-Bayan lil Qur’an al-Karim karya Aisyah Abdurrahman Bintu Syathi’.

Abstract

ABSTRACT. Nilai terendah pada perlakuan P0 yaitu 5,54 tanpa pemberian enzim papain.(The antemortem injection effect of papain enzyme on cooking losses and pH values in laying roosters)ABSTRAK. Laying roosters as meat producers have not been used optimally, due to the low tenderness value. Increasing the proportion of shrinkage cooked using enzymes will increase the value of tenderness. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments used were as follows P0 = control, P1 = 10 ml of papain enzyme, P2 = 15 ml of papain enzyme, and P3 = 20 ml of papain enzyme. The parameters observed in this study were cooking losses and pH. The results showed that the injection of the papain enzyme significantly (P0.01) increased the value of cooking loss in meat, where the lowest value for cooking loss in treatment P0 was 30.9%, while the highest value for cooking loss in treatment P1 was 36.6%. The statistical analysis results showed that the injection of the papain enzyme in laying roosters had a significant effect (P0.05) on the pH value of the meat, where the highest value for the pH level was in the P3 treatment, namely 5.72 with a dose of 20 ml of papain enzyme. The lowest value was in the P0 treatment, namely 5.54 without the administration of the papain enzyme.
