Abstract

This study examines the use and semantic transformation of Islamic religious language in Indonesian horror films. Findings reveal that desacralizationge with horror themes to attract the predominantly Muslim audience, media commodification has transformed sacred expressions into commercial tools, leading to the distortion of religious literacy and public resistance. The research aims to identify forms of semantic transformation, investigate its causes, and analyze its impact on public discourse and understanding of religious language. Using both primary and secondary data, the study focused on Indonesian horror films released on YouTube between 2019 and 2023. Data were classified based on theories of desacralization and connotative meaning, with analysis encompassing linguistic patterns and audience comments. Findings reveal that semantic transformation arises mainly from the commodification of religion through syncretic storytelling that blends Islamic elements with horror, creating confusion and misinterpretations of Islamic teachings among the public.

Abstract

This study was motivated by a 14.11% decline in students’ Qur’an memorisation quality at SMAIT Bina Umat Yogyakarta over the past three academic years, which was associated with below-standard reading proficiency, conventional instructional approaches, and limited optimisation of Islamic Education (PAI) teachers’ leadership in mentoring activities. This study aimed to formulate and analyse a transformational leadership model of PAI teachers as a strategic effort to achieve memorisation quality targets. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed. The research subjects consisted of six PAI teachers and six students. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis, and analysed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal a transformational leadership model characterised by exemplary influence, Inspirational Motivation, intellectual stimulation, and Individualized Consideration integrated into spiritual mentoring practices. The model strengthens students’ commitment, learning discipline, and memorisation strategies. Students’ memorisation quality generally met institutional standards, including tajwid accuracy, articulation, reading fluency, and a minimum memorisation target of 1.5 juz annually. Leadership practices demonstrated measurable improvement in memorisation outcomes, with reading fluency achievement ranging from 88% to 98% of students. The study concludes that the transformational leadership model is an effective strategic approach for achieving sustainable targets for memorisation quality.

Abstract

The research problem originates from the observation that SD Alam Pacitan has experienced a significant decline in the internalization of environmental awareness in recent years. This deterioration is evidenced by increasing ecological crises in Pacitan, including frequent landslides, floods, and seasonal droughts. In response, the school is motivated to integrate ecology-based learning materials into its Islamic Religious Education (IRE) curriculum. Accordingly, this study seeks to examine the development and reinforcement of Qur’anic verses within ecology-oriented IRE, enabling students to comprehend nature through both Islamic and scientific perspectives. Employing a qualitative case study approach, the research involves data collection through interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis follows three stages: reduction, display, and conclusion drawing, with triangulation applied to ensure validity. The findings reveal that embedding Qur’anic verses into ecology-based IRE at SD Alam Pacitan enriches the pedagogical experience, fostering a holistic understanding of life by linking ecological themes with Islamic teachings.

Abstract

This study examines the management of Islamic co-curricular programs in shaping student discipline at SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Yogyakarta. The research is motivated by the importance of student discipline in supporting the success of educational processes, particularly within Islamic co-curricular activities. In practice, however, the implementation of Islamic programs has not fully achieved the expected outcomes in developing disciplined student behavior. Although activities such as daily Qur’anic recitation, weekly tasmi’ Al-Qur’an, and Islamic boarding programs have been routinely conducted, students’ responses and levels of discipline remain varied. Some students perceive the programs as less organized, less engaging, and not fully connected to the development of disciplinary values. This research employed a qualitative approach using observation, documentation, and in-depth interviews with purposively selected informants, including school leaders, ISMUBA teachers, and students. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings indicate that the management of Islamic co-curricular programs has been implemented systematically and contributes significantly to shaping student discipline through moral knowledge development, the creation of a conducive moral environment, and the habituation of disciplined behavior. Overall, Islamic co-curricular management is effective in fostering student discipline through educational guidance, exemplary practice, and continuous habituation.
