Abstract

Recently, cancer is globally the second highest cause of death with a total death about 8.8 million in 2015. There are some therapy of cancer, one of them by using cyclophosphamid chemotherapy, but this regimen has side effects of bone marrow depression through its active metabolite of 4 hydroxy cyclophpsphamid and increase ROS which will effect on serum MDA elevation. Increased MDA serum can be prevented by giving an antioxidant or plants that have various antioxidants, such as kenitu leaves. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of antioxidants in kenitu leaves (Chrysophyllum cainito L.)) extract to MDA serum leves of cyclophosphamid-induced mice. This study used quasi experimental method with post test only controlled group design by using 1 normal control group, 1 negative control group (cyclophosphamid), and 5 treatment groups (dose of extract 50mg/kgBW; 100mg/kgBW; 200mg/kgBW; 400mg/kgBB; and 800mg / kgBW). The results of the treatment group dose 100mg/kgBB showed the average of MDA serum levels was 1.94 μg/mL which is the highest decrease in this study. The result of Kendall Tau correlation test showed the effect of kenitu leaves extract to MDA serum level had p = 0.013 and correlation coefficient = 0.431. Abstract

The most common macrovascular complication of type 2 DM’s patiens is coronary artery disease caused by coronary artery stricture or spasm or both of them. The atherosclerosis process in coronary artery can be seen through coronary artery histopathology of rat. DM can be controlled so that the complication can be prevented, for example by controlling diet. Artificial rice with high fiber is one of breakthrough for DM patients diet. The purpose of this research is to know about the effects of artificial rice diet administration to coronary artery histopathology of rat model type 2 DM. Rats are divided to four groups consist of control normal group given standart feeding, PBA1;PBA2;PBB group are inducted by high fat diet and low dose STZ so that they become rat model type 2 DM. Since PBA1 is feeded by formula 1 artificial rice, PBA1 is feeded by formula 2 artificial rice and PBB is feeded by common rice. Rats are terminated and their hearts are taken away to make histopathology object and their coronary artery are seen under light microscope. Histopathology images are based on foam cell formed. Kruskal-Wallis’s result shows that p= 0,046 (p<0,05), so that there is a significant difference between groups. Keywords : DM, atherosclerosis, foam cell, coronary artery histopathology

Abstract

Coronary heart disease (CHD) is the cause of 7,3 million death globally in 2008. The main pathophysiology process that leads to CHD is atherosclerosis which is caused by high LDL cholesterol level. The aim of this study was to explore bay leaf and celery leaf infusion effect on reducing LDL cholesterol level in dyslipidemic rat model. The type of this study was true experimental research using wistar rat (Rattus novergicus) as the sample. The rats were induced by high fat diet and PTU for two weeks then each of the group were given either bay leaf infusion, celery leaf infusion, simvastatin (positive control), or aquadest (negative control) for a week. The measurement of LDL level used Friedewald formulation. Data was analyzed using paired sample t test and one way ANOVA. As the result there was a significance reduction on LDL level after treatment with bay leaf (p=0,013) and celery leaf infusion (p=0,035) but there was no significance difference between groups (p=0,293). It was concluded that bay leaf and celery leaf infusion could reduce the LDL level in dyslipidemic wistar rat but there was no difference on the capability of the two different leafs on reducing LDL level. Abstract

Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) is a neurodegenerative disease caused by repetitive brain trauma that cancontinues to be dementia, alzheimer and parkinsonism. Traumatic brain injury increased free radicals in brain thatcaused oxidative stress and induced lipid peroxidation, neuron damage and producing MDA. The purpose is todetermine the correlation between administration of ALA and MDA level in rat’s brain model of traumatic braininjury and its effective dose. Rats are randomLy divided into 7 groups. Normal group without treatment, K(-) wasgiven NaCl 0,9% 1,5 mL, K(+) was given citicoline 6,75 mg, K1 was given ALA 1,0125 mg, K2 was given ALA 2,025mg, K3 was given ALA 4,05 mg, K4 was given ALA 8,1 mg and received 30 days traumatic brain injury treatment bydropped 245 g load on the rat’s head at 35 cm height. MDA level in brain were measured on the 31th day withMDA-TBA method by spectrofotometer. The averages of MDA levels were N 1,64 μg/mL; K(+) 2,09 μg/mL; K(-) 4,87μg/mL; K1 2,73 μg/mL; K2 2,68 μg/mL; K3 2,20 μg/mL and K4 2,02 μg/mL. Pearson’s analysis shows strong andsignificant negative correlation (r= -0,790) between administration of ALA and MDA level in rat’s brain model oftraumatic brain injury (p<0,05). The effective dose of ALA is 8,625 mg/150gBW.Keywords : Alpha lipoic acid, MDA, traumatic brain injury, CTE

Abstract

The main allergen of allergic rhinitis is house dust mites (HDM), that often found in humid room conditions and furnitures. The health behaviour consists of knowledge, attitude, and practice is closely related to the occurrence of disease including allergic rhinitis. One of the methods to screen allergic rhinitis is the score for allergic rhinitis (SFAR) questionnaire. This study aimed to determine the relationship between behaviour (knowledge, attitude, and practice) on house dust mites and the SFAR score. This was an analytical observational study on female population age 17-34 years old in Jember District. As many as 141 respondents were selected using the purposive sampling technique based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were collected using an online behaviour questionnaire and the SFAR. The primary data were analyzed statistically by chi-square test with a significance value of p <0.05. The results showed that 46 respondents (32.62%) had an SFAR score > 7, indicated allergic rhinitis symptoms. The majority of respondents (76 people or 54%) had sufficient knowledge about HDM, as many as 132 respondents (93.62%) had a good attitude towards HDM and 94 respondents (66.67%) had a good practice towards HDM. Statistical analysis showed that there was a relationship between knowledge, attitude, and practice on HDM and the SFAR score, each with the value of p = 0.000. In conclusion, good knowledge, attitude, and practice to HDM would decrease the HDM population resulting in reduce of allergic rhinitis risk, that could be screened by SFAR.

Abstract

The distinction between public and religious campuses often occurs in the community, the dividing barrier between the two has implications for the favorite attention of the nation's generation in choosing universities, and campuses based on religion are always superior. However, in the traces of developments at the State Islamic University KH. Achmad Siddiq has made significant progress every year, and the increasing interest of prospective students is forced to reject many applicants. It is the main attraction of this research for Then answer how the progress occurred. This research is a type of qualitative research, as a bridge so that the results are more in-depth the author will use integrative theory and approach the problem above with a psycho-sociological approach. The focuses that will be studied include; How is the pre-attention anomaly of new students in the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training at UIN Jember? What is the process of reasoning? And the new paradigm of attention is developing? The results showed that the attention paradigm that emerged was the reasoning that was built after the anomaly and crisis in the selection of Islamic universities, there were three adjustment processes, namely economical commensurability, formal education commensurability, and moral commensurability. All three are carried out using a negotiation process of general expectations and the impact of anomalies which are believed to be a necessity of the era.
