Abstract

This paper examines one application of the muqaran technique in Saifuddin and Wardani's readings of the archipelago. This approach compares interpretations and commentators. This research is of the literature review variety. While the employed methodologies and approaches are the muqaran (comparison) method and the interpretation approach. This article indicates that the muqaran approach comprises comparisons of verses with verses containing comparable editorials, comparisons of verses with hadiths that are suggested to be contradictory, and comparisons of mufassir leaders' viewpoints. On the other hand, the comparison method's components depend on the comparison pattern employed. The area of opinion comparison between mufassir figures is expansive. Similarities and differences exist between the comparative technique and the methods employed or utilized in the text. However, the verse grouping and mapping of mufassir viewpoints are distinct.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji secara mendalam hak-hak perempuan dalam Al-Qur’an dengan fokus pada larangan kekerasan dalam rumah tangga dan perlindungan keluarga. Tujuan penelitian adalah menegaskan nilai-nilai Qur’ani sebagai dasar etis dan normatif untuk membangun relasi keluarga yang adil dan penuh kasih sayang. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode hermeneutik dan analisis maqasid al-syari‘ah, menelaah ayat-ayat tematik serta karya tafsir klasik dan kontemporer. Data dikumpulkan melalui studi pustaka dari sumber primer seperti Al-Qur’an, hadis, dan tafsir, serta sumber sekunder berupa penelitian akademik terkini. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa prinsip rahmah, mawaddah, dan mu‘asharah bi al-ma‘ruf merupakan fondasi utama dalam Al-Qur’an yang menolak segala bentuk kekerasan terhadap perempuan. Tafsir modern menempatkan qiw?mah sebagai tanggung jawab moral dan ekonomi, bukan otoritas gender. Analisis komparatif dengan hukum nasional dan internasional menunjukkan keselarasan antara maq??id syariah dan prinsip perlindungan perempuan. Penelitian ini berkontribusi pada pembaruan pemahaman tafsir berbasis keadilan gender dan memberikan dasar teoritis bagi model advokasi Islam yang humanistik. Hasilnya memperkaya wacana hukum Islam kontemporer dan membuka ruang baru bagi penguatan kebijakan sosial berbasis nilai Qur’ani.

Abstract

Domestic violence within Muslim societies continues to persist not only as a social and legal problem but also as a consequence of entrenched interpretive practices that normalize patriarchal authority in family relations. This study critically examines women’s rights and the Qur’anic prohibition of domestic violence through a maqāṣid al-sharīʿah–based hermeneutical framework. The primary objective is to elucidate the ethical architecture of the Qur’an in regulating family relations and to develop an interpretive model that situates domestic violence as fundamentally incompatible with the higher objectives of Islamic law. Employing a qualitative normative approach, this study conducts a thematic analysis of Qur’anic verses on family relations, supported by classical and contemporary Qur’anic exegesis and strengthened through a comparative analysis of legal instruments and family protection policies. The data are integratively constructed from the Qur’anic text, representative exegetical literature, and legal documents addressing domestic violence. The findings demonstrate that the Qur’an consistently frames the family as an ethical space grounded in justice (ʿadl), compassion (raḥmah), and human dignity (karāmah), thereby rendering all forms of domestic violence contradictory to the protection of life, honor, and family integrity as core objectives of the Sharīʿah. This study contributes by proposing an integrative maqāṣidī hermeneutical framework that bridges Qur’anic ethics, gender-sensitive interpretation, and contemporary legal discourse, offering a normative foundation for advancing family justice and protection in Muslim societies.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the Qur’anic conception of imagination by analyzing the terms khayala (خيل) and ṣawwara (صوّر). The research seeks to determine whether these expressions are related to Allah SWT, to human beings, or to the nature of reality as a whole. The research employs a qualitative approach using the methods of tafsir (Qur’anic interpretation) and philosophy. These approaches serve as the main analytical tools to uncover the essence of imagination within the Qur’an. The analysis is further supported by contemporary philosophical theories that help strengthen and contextualize the interpretation. Results. The study finds that the Qur’an presents imagination as a hierarchical concept encompassing divine, cosmic, and human dimensions. Allah SWT, as al-Muṣawwir (ٱلْمُصَوِّر), is depicted as engaging in an act of divine imagination that manifests all of creation, reflected in the term ṣawwara (صوّر). The Qur’an also portrays reality as multilayered and ever-evolving, represented by ṣuwar (صوَر) and yuṣawwiru (يصوّر), encompassing both physical-biological and social-psychological realms. Furthermore, through the use of yukhayyalu (يخيل), human imagination is shown to operate within the vast expanse of Divine imagination, suggesting that all human creativity exists within God’s greater imaginative reality. The Qur’an views imagination not as a mere mental faculty but as a fundamental ontological principle that structures existence. Divine, cosmic, and human imaginations are interrelated in a continuous process of creation and re-creation. Thus, imagination in the Qur’anic perspective reflects the dynamic interplay between the Divine act of creation and human participation within that imaginative reality.

Abstract

Lots of misunderstandings in addressing the current practice of polygamy, including faults in interpreting the verses of polygamy in the Qur’anic and misunderstandings in addressing the practice of polygamy by the Prophet Muhammad. This study examines the Qur’anic verses about polygamy and their respective interpretations, and how they relate to the current practice of polygamy. In addition, it also equipped this article with a discussion of the views of Islamic law and positive Indonesian law on polygamy, as well as the impact of polygamy on social life. The results of the study show that the principle of marriage in the concept of the Qur’anic and positive law in Indonesia is to adhere to a monogamous marriage system. The permissibility of polygamy is an obligation that is complicated and tightened and only for people who really need it in a very emergency and accompanied by the condition that they can do justice between wives. Prophet Mohammad Saw. did polygamy not because of sexual motivation, but because of religious, social, and humanitarian motivations. There are two wisdoms behind the Prophet Saw. practicing polygamy, namely to support the widows of war victims and as one of the Prophet’s political strategies to unite dispersed and hostile groups.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis keterkaitan antara prinsip sakinah dan kifayah dalam Al-Qur’an sebagai landasan kesejahteraan ekonomi keluarga Muslim. Dengan menggunakan metode studi pustaka (library research), penelitian ini menelaah berbagai literatur tafsir dan penelitian empiris kontemporer yang membahas nilai-nilai spiritual dan ekonomi dalam kehidupan rumah tangga. Analisis tematik terhadap ayat-ayat Al-Qur’an, khususnya QS. Ar-Rum [30]: 21, QS. Al-Baqarah [2]: 233, dan QS. At-Talaq [65]: 7, menunjukkan bahwa sakinah berperan sebagai pondasi spiritual dan emosional bagi ketenangan keluarga, sedangkan kifayah menekankan keseimbangan ekonomi yang adil, halal, dan proporsional. Integrasi kedua prinsip tersebut membentuk harmoni antara ketenangan batin dan kecukupan materi yang menjadi ciri kesejahteraan holistik dalam perspektif Islam. Hasil penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa kesejahteraan keluarga Muslim tidak hanya bergantung pada aspek finansial, tetapi juga pada kekuatan moral dan spiritual yang melandasinya. Oleh karena itu, pendidikan pranikah dan kebijakan keluarga perlu mengarusutamakan nilai-nilai sakinah dan kifayah untuk mewujudkan rumah tangga yang mandiri, berkeadilan, dan berkeberkahan dalam menghadapi tantangan ekonomi modern.
