Abstract

The NGO certainly has its own way of carrying out community empowerment activities. When asked what model of empowerment was used by the three NGOs in West Sumatra, they basically built all the empowerment models, including the Rothman Empowerment model. After further investigation, the application of the Rothman empowerment model to the empowerment program carried out by NGOs was not fully implemented by the NGOs Jemari Sakato, YCM-M and LP2M. The three NGOs only used several indicators of the Rothman empowerment model in the empowerment program carried out by the NGO. For this reason, it is necessary to explain how the application of the Rothman empowerment model was carried out by the three NGOs considered that not all indicators of the empowerment model could be realized by NGOs. The purposes of this research were to describe the implementation of Rothman’s Model on every empowerment program which held by the NGOs. To describe the data collected, the researcher uses the perspective “Rothman's Three Models of Community Organizing”. This Researched used qualitative approach. The selection of informants was done by using purposive sampling technique and data collected techniques with in-depth interviews, observations, and document studies. The results from this research are the NGO of Jemari Sakato used Locality Development as its model of Rothman, YCM-M used Social Planning model of Rothman, and LP2M used Social Action Model of Rothman with nine indicators. This research has never been done before by other authors

Abstract

The Mentawai Islands District Government seeks to develop capture fisheries by implementing fisheries motorization policies to make fishermen change from fishermen peasants (oriented to meeting their daily needs) to become fishermen post-peasants (using fishing technology in the form of outboard motors or motor boats). This research tries to answer the problems faced in the implementation of capture fisheries development programs in Goisooinan Village, North Sipora District, Mentawai Islands Regency. This study uses a qualitative approach. The researcher used structuration theory from Anthony Giddens which focused on fishermen as agents who had knowledge and awareness of practical awareness, discursive awareness and unconscious motivation caused by the existence of rules and resources that could empower and curb fishermen in taking action. From the results of the study, it was found that the issue of the capture fisheries program was the distribution and utilization of fisheries fishing equipment in the form of 5 pk motorcycles which were not targeted, most fishermen not only used the machine to catch fish but also for other activities such as transporting sand from the sea and going to the fields, the economic structure of an agrarian society, the limitations of fishing gear, the high price of fuel, the limited human resources of fishermen, no assistance and supervision of fishermen, and bad weather conditions.

Abstract

The diversity of religions found in the New Koto Nagari does not lead to inter-religious conflict. This is because the local people preserve local traditions that are derived from the habits of their elders. Harmonious relations between religious communities are created through the practices of local traditions of village consultation, village clean, celebration of as-syuro day, kenduri and commemoration of August 17. Local tradition serves as a special mechanism that can prevent the community from possible conflicts between religious communities and is able to clean up the chaotic community atmosphere. Local traditions contribute to resolving several inter-religious conflicts, such as: Conflict of establishment of Kosta Beach church and widening of the terrace of the Mahakaraya Holy Family church, conflict of pig breeding in Jorong and Jakarya Mahakarya, and conflict in organizing blood donor activities in the Holy Family Mahakarya church.

Abstract

This article will discuss the link between social change and social solidarity. The discussion will focus on the form of social changes on marriage ceremony on social solidarity within Minangkabau rural communities. Based on a study in a nagari in Solok district in West Sumatra this article will convey the form of marriage ceremony changes that occurred in the nagari and consequently to the sustainability of the mechanism of maintaining the solidarity of relatives in the nagari community. It will be shown that the marriage ceremony changed from previously fully organized by relatives working together from preparing facilities to serving food and drink, and decorate the party location into the use of Wedding Service services that took over the preparation of party facilities, decorate the party location, and bridal makeup. This change is welcomed by the community, but the presence of Wedding Service  has reduced the involvement of kin members in the preparation and holding of a marriage feast and this then disrupts the mechanism of social solidarity sustainability within the kinship group.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kevalidan dan reliabilitas instrumen tes HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills) untuk mengetahui dan mengukur kemampuan berrpikir kritis siswa pada materi segitiga dan segiempat jajargenjang. Sample dalam penelitian ini adalah satu kelas yang terdiri dari 30 peserta didik. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah lembar instrumen tes yang terintegrasi soal HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills) berbentuk uraian sebanyak 5 butir, lembar validasi ahli, dan lembar angket respon. Desain penelitian menggunakan model Borg dan Gall dengan melalui 8 tahapan. Hasil penelitian memperoleh instrumen tes memiliki kevalidan sangat tinggi dengan validitas isi 91% dan validitas ke lima butir tes menunjukkan thitung > ttabel dengan kriteria sangat tinggi. Hasil uji reliabilitas instrumen tes menggunakan Alpa-Cronbach sebesar 0,93 dengan kriteria korelasi sangat tinggi. Hasil kevalidan dan reliabilitas menunjukkan bahwa instrumen tes valid dan mampu mengukur kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik. Hasil kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik menggunakan indikator Facione menunjukkan terdapat 1 peserta didik (3%) memiliki kemampuan berpikir kritis sangat tinggi, 5 peserta didik (17%) memiliki kemampuan berpikir kritis tinggi, dan 6 peserta didik (20%) memiliki kemampuan berpikir kritis sedang, 9 peserta didik (30%) memiliki kemampuan berpikir kritis rendah dan 9 peserta didik (30%) memiliki kemampuan berpikir kritis sangat rendah. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa instrumen tes HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills) yang dikembangkan mampu mengukur kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa Sekolah Menengah Pertama.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) Menilai kualitas validitas media pembelajaran berbasis web, (2) Mengevaluasi kualitas kepraktisan media pembelajaran berbasis web, (3) Menilai efektivitas media dalam meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis serta minat belajar peserta didik melalui penerapan media pembelajaran. Metode penelitian yang diterapkan adalah model pengembangan ADDIE (Analisi, Desain, Pengembangan, Implementasi, Evaluasi). Subjek penelitian terdiri dari peserta didik kelas VIII-11 SMP Negeri 11 Medan, sementara objek penelitiannya adalah media pembelajaran berbasis web yang dirancang untuk mendukung peningkatan komunikasi matematis dan minat belajar peserta didik. Instrumen yang digunakan meliputi angket dan tes. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: (1) Media pembelajaran ini memenuhi kriteria valid dengan skor 4,31 dari ahli materi dan 4,37 dari ahli media, keduanya tergolong sangat layak (SL), dalam kategori sangat valid . (2) Media ini memenuhi standar kepraktisan , dengan tingkat kepraktisan yang dinilai oleh guru sebesar 90,29% dan oleh peserta didik sebesar 87,79%. (3) Media pembelajaran tersebut terbukti efektif berdasarkan: (a) ketuntasan belajar klasikal sebesar 93,33%, (b) pencapaian tujuan belajar individu rata-rata 88,43, (c) respon positif peserta didik sebesar 98,33% termasuk kedalam kategori sangat positif, serta (d) peningkatan komunikasi matematis yang terlihat dari skor rata-rata Pretest 40,93 menjadi 88,43 pada Posttest untuk setiap indikator. Skor rata-rata kemampuan komunikasi matematis secara keseluruhan meningkat dari 50,00 pada Pretest menjadi 83,5 pada hasil Posttest, dengan analisis N-Gain menunjukkan peningkatan sebesar 0,769 dalam kategori tinggi. Berdasarkan kriteria penilaian N-Gain, nilai tersebut tergolong dalam kategori tinggi. Hasil tersebut mengindikasikan adanya peningkatan minat belajar peserta didik, yang terlihat dari hasil belajar yang menunjukkan kemajuan.

Abstract

The integration of technology in education is a strategic step toward enhancing the effectiveness and quality of learning in the digital era. Collaboration between academics, teachers, and technology practitioners is a key factor in creating adaptive and effective learning innovations. This study aims to examine the impacts and challenges of optimizing collaboration to support the implementation of technology in education. The research method used is a qualitative approach, with data analysis based on observations, interviews, and document studies from activities focused on strengthening collaboration in technology integration. The findings indicate that effective collaboration can enhance teachers' competence in utilizing technology, enrich students’ learning experiences, and create a more dynamic learning environment. This article recommends strengthening continuous training, improving infrastructure, and establishing academic communities as strategic steps to support the sustainability of technology-based learning innovations.

Abstract

Writing scientific articles is an essential academic competency for students of the Teacher Professional Education (PPG) program. However, many students face difficulties in understanding research methodology, academic structure, as well as data processing and scientific language. To address this issue, Universitas Negeri Medan (UNIMED) initiated a Collaboration for Scientific Article Writing Assistance involving lecturers, mentor teachers, and PPG students. This study employed a qualitative approach using a case study method to evaluate the program’s effectiveness. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and document analysis of article drafts before and after the mentoring sessions. The results show that this mentoring program improved students’ academic competencies, with 85% of participants acknowledging the benefits of the guidance in understanding the structure and quality of scientific writing. Additionally, 70% of students expressed high satisfaction with the program, with the increased number of articles submitted to national and international journals serving as an indicator of its success. However, challenges remain, such as limited time and restricted access to scientific references. Therefore, it is recommended to improve access to academic resources and develop online platforms to support more flexible mentoring. Overall, the results of this study affirm that academic mentoring collaboration is an effective strategy to enhance the scientific writing skills of PPG students and strengthen the academic culture in higher education environments.

Abstract

Program rehabilitasi sosial Anak Berhadapan dengan Hukum (ABH) merupakan upaya pemerintah untuk pemenuhan hak-hak dasar ABH selama di Lembaga Penyelenggaraan Kesejahteraan Sosial yaitu Panti Sosial Asuhan Anak Bina Remaja Budi Utama. Terdapat kendala PSAABR melaksanakan rehabilitasi sosial ABH. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kendala-kendala apa yang dialami oleh PSAABR dalam rehabilitasi sosial ABH. Teori yang digunakan adalah teori strukturasi yang dipelopori oleh Anthony Giddens yang memfokuskan pada hubungan dualitas antara agen dan struktur. Penelitian dilakukan dengan pendekatan hermeneutika ganda sebagai salah satu sub tipe riset kualitatif. Artikel ini akan menunjukkan bahwa kendala-kendala yang dihadapi pengelola PSAABR dalam rehabilitasi sosial ABH adalah kurangnya sumber daya manusia, minimnya anggaran dana untuk ABH, sarana dan prasarana yang kurang memadai, serta kurangnya pemahaman pengelola terkait metode penanganan ABH.Kata kunci: Anak,  Hukum, Rehabilitasi, Sosial
