Abstract

The curriculum applied in the Bachelor of Economics Education study program at Medan State University uses the concept of Independent Learning with an output-oriented approach or Outcome-Based Education (OBE). In this output-based approach, results in the form of knowledge and skills must be measurable concretely. To achieve optimal measurement results, it is necessary to apply a project-based learning model that is in accordance with OBE principles in the study program. This OBE-based PJBL model is expected to be able to improve students' abilities as reflected in the achievement of their learning outcomes. This research uses research and development (R&D) methods, with a development model adapted from the ADDIE model. Based on the research results, 96.7% of students got an A grade, while 3.3% got an E grade. This shows that the PjBL model is very effective in improving student learning outcomes, especially in Creative Economy courses.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bagaimana pengaruh penggunaan media pembelajan materi pasar terhadap peningkatan hasil belajarar Ilmu Pengetshusn Sosia (IPS). Metode yan diguanakan adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan analisis regresi sederhana, melibatkan 30siswa di kelas XI IPS di SMA Negeri 12 Medan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media pembbelajaran berbasis teknologi, seperti simulasi pasar digital, memiliki pengaruh significant terhadap hasil belajar siswa, dengan nilai t hitung sebesar 10,458 dan signifikansi 0,000. Koifisien determinasi R2 sebesar 0,789 mengindikasikan bahwa 78,9 % variasi dalam hasil belajar dapat dijelaskan oleh pengguna media pembelajaran. Penelitian ini sejalan juga dengan penelitian sebelumnya yang menunjukkan bahwa media interaktif dapat meningkatkan keterlibatan siswa.

Abstract

Educators can create innovative teaching materials by utilizing engaging information technology that can be carried and read anytime and anywhere. Moreover, students are now synonymous with the gadgets (smartphones) they often carry. In addition to innovative teaching materials based on information technology, teaching materials that can provide students with a more comprehensive understanding are also needed. 21st-century learning focuses on technology integration and the development of essential skills such as critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration (4Cs), as well as contextual and problem-oriented learning. Developing 21st-century skills plays a vital role in preparing students to face the complex challenges of the modern era. Education is expected to produce individuals who not only excel academically but also possess the ability to adapt, think critically, solve problems, and innovate. This study aims to develop an e-module based on a learning model that integrates 21st-century skills in economics learning, with a high level of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. This research is a research and development (R&D) that adapts the five stages in the ADDIE model, namely analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The implementation of the development research includes (a) defining problems and needs analysis; (b) planning product design and (c) Implementation and evaluation of the e-module learning model based on 21st-century skills. The subjects in this study were sixth-semester students from the Economics Education study program. This study employed data analysis techniques that included validity, practicality, and effectiveness tests. The e-module validation process was conducted by two validator experts: a material expert and a design expert. Based on the research results, the feasibility test obtained a very feasible category, while the practicality test, based on responses from the lecturer team (colleagues) and students, showed a very practical category. The effectiveness test results indicated that the implementation of the e-module with a 21st-century skills-based learning model was effective.

Abstract

Low student learning motivation in economics subjects, particularly on payment systems and means of payment, remains a problem in senior high school learning. Therefore, digital learning media that can present material visually and interactively are needed. This study aims to analyze the effect of Canva-based learning media on students’ learning motivation and to provide empirical evidence regarding the integration of creative digital platforms in economics learning. This research employed a quantitative approach with an exploratory research design. The research sample consisted of 61 students who participated in learning activities using Canva-based media. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire that had been tested for validity using Product Moment correlation and for reliability using Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient. Data analysis was conducted through classical assumption tests and simple linear regression analysis. The results show that Canva-based learning media have a positive and significant effect on students’ learning motivation. The correlation value R = 0.802 indicates a very strong relationship, while the coefficient of determination R² = 0.643 shows that 64.3% of the variance in learning motivation is explained by the use of Canva media. The regression coefficient β = 0.752; sig. 0.000 confirms increased student motivation, while 35.7% is influenced by factors outside Canva media.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the impact of implementing a Canva-based learning tool on students' understanding of Management Concepts. The research stemmed from the problem of low student understanding, caused by traditional teaching methods that lack diversity and underutilize visual elements. This study employed a quantitative method through an explanatory research approach. The sample size reached 50 students, selected using a purposive sampling technique. The data collection tool was a Likert-scale questionnaire, which was verified for its validity and reliability. Data analysis involved checking for validity, reliability, normality, linearity, and simple linear regression. The main findings showed that the use of Canva had a positive and significant impact on student understanding. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.668 indicated that Canva contributed approximately 66.8% to the increase in understanding, with the remainder influenced by other factors. These results reinforce the idea that Canva can help students digest abstract management concepts through more engaging, organized, and easily digestible visualizations. Ultimately, this study recommends that Canva be used as an alternative teaching medium in courses requiring conceptual understanding.

Abstract

This study examines the extent to which investment in human resources (HR) influences economic growth through a review of diverse literature. Investment in HR, including education, training, and health, is a crucial element in improving workforce quality and productivity. The approach used is qualitative-descriptive, utilizing secondary data sources such as journals, books, and related scientific publications. The study's findings indicate that improving education plays a role in strengthening worker competence and innovation, training improves the match of skills to labor market needs, and optimal health conditions influence performance effectiveness. However, successful HR investment requires policy, technology, and infrastructure support to maximize its impact on economic growth. Therefore, strengthening integrated HR investment is a crucial strategy in driving sustainable economic growth in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the impact of the Public Sector Accounting course on students' awareness of the importance of transparency and accountability in public financial management. The research method uses a mixed methods approach with integrated quantitative analysis through Structural Equation Modelling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) and qualitative analysis with thematic NVivo. The research sample consisted of 98 students from the Economics Education Study Programme at Universitas Negeri Medan who had taken the course. Quantitative testing results showed that the Public Sector Accounting course had a positive and significant effect on student awareness of transparency (p < 0.001) and accountability (p = 0.007). However, awareness of transparency did not have a significant effect on accountability (p = 0.073). Qualitative analysis found five main themes, namely increased conceptual understanding, ethical awareness, implementative ability, social participation, and the effectiveness of case study-based learning methods. These findings confirm that public sector accounting education not only improves students' theoretical understanding but also shapes moral values, critical attitudes, and ethical responsibility in public financial management. This study contributes to the development of a curriculum oriented towards good governance values by emphasising a contextual, ethical, and applicative approach.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of using Canva and Blooket-Quiz learning media on students’ understanding of employment material in Class XI Inglanfis 1 at SMA Negeri 1 Percut Sei Tuan. The study was conducted due to the low level of students’ understanding and participation in learning activities caused by the use of conventional teaching methods. This research employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design using a one-group pretest-posttest model. The sample consisted of 29 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through tests, observations, documentation, and questionnaires, and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics with IBM SPSS Statistics. The results showed that Canva had a positive and significant effect on students’ understanding with a significance value of 0.008 (<0.05), while Blooket-Quiz also had a positive and significant effect with a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05). Simultaneously, Canva and Blooket-Quiz significantly influenced students’ understanding, as indicated by an F-value significance of 0.000. The coefficient of determination (R²) was 0.726, indicating that 72.6% of the variation in students’ understanding could be explained by the use of Canva and Blooket-Quiz. Therefore, the integration of Canva and Blooket-Quiz is effective in improving students’ understanding of employment material and creating a more interactive and engaging learning environment.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the use of printed Student Worksheets (LKPD) in economics learning at Free Methodist Private Senior High School Medan, which were less attractive and had not optimally improved students’ learning outcomes. This study aimed to determine the feasibility, practicality, and effectiveness of an Electronic Student Worksheet (E-LKPD) assisted by the Heyzine Flipbook Maker application on the Financial Services Authority (OJK) topic. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, consisting of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation stages. The research subjects were 36 tenth-grade students. The results showed that the developed E-LKPD achieved an average feasibility score of 94.03% (very feasible category) and a practicality score of 92.55% (very practical category). The effectiveness test indicated an increase in students’ average scores from 34.5 on the pre-test to 86.0 on the post-test. Furthermore, the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test produced an Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores. Therefore, the Heyzine Flipbook Maker-assisted E-LKPD is feasible, practical, and effective for improving students’ learning outcomes in economics learning.
