Abstract

The background of this study is that vocational education places greater emphasis on the link and match pattern. This pattern is more oriented toward the ideology of liberalism or neoliberalism that supports capitalism. Substantially, Islamic education has an orientation to realize the concept of insan kamil. Therefore, it becomes important to conduct in-depth research on the implementation of madrasah education based on religious humanism that is integrated as a defense against the influence of liberalism, neoliberalism, and capitalism. The aim is to provide an in-depth analysis of the orientation of vocational education. The method used is a qualitative goal-free evaluation approach with data collection through documentation techniques, observation, interviews, and in-depth discussions with subject research in State Islamic Senior High School (MAN) 2 Kulon Progo in Special Region of Yogyakarta. Research Results: this study found that the implementation of education in the vocational program at Madrasah Aliyah is very good. The direction of vocational education in madrasahs is not necessarily based on liberalism-neoliberalism, capitalist domination, or market demand dominance; rather, the values of religious humanist education and the internalization of Islamic values are very dominant and become the educational values. Religious humanist education is realized through an integration-interconnection model in the educational process. Conclusion: The educational model at State Islamic Senior High School (MAN) 2 Kulon Progo, integrating religious values and skills, is an alternative for vocational education. This strategy can be a trendsetter for other vocational education institutions. Therefore, policymakers can position religious values education as a foundation in vocational education policies.

Abstract

Leadership studies in higher education remain largely dominated by perspectives that treat leadership as a set of individual styles, traits, or behavioural attributes. Such approaches often assume a relatively direct relationship between leadership and academic quality, while giving less attention to the institutional processes through which leadership is organised and sustained. This study examines how leadership operates as an institutional mechanism in shaping academic quality in State Islamic Higher Education Institutions in Indonesia. Using an explanatory mixed-methods design with a comparative case study orientation, the research was conducted at UIN Raden Intan Lampung and UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. Quantitative survey data were used to map perceived leadership orientations. In contrast, qualitative interviews, observations, and document analysis were used to explain how leadership was enacted through governance, policy coordination, and quality assurance practices. The findings show that democratic, transformational, servant, and transactional orientations appear in hybrid and context-dependent forms, whereas authoritarian and laissez-faire orientations remain marginal. These patterns are better understood as institutional responses to organisational history, developmental phase, governance configuration, and strategic priorities than as expressions of leaders’ personal preferences. Academic quality emerges not directly from particular leadership styles, but from leadership translated into governance arrangements, academic policies, internal quality assurance systems, and coordinated institutional routines. The comparison further indicates that leadership mediation takes different forms across the two institutions. The study thus shifts attention from personalistic and linear explanations toward a more contextual understanding of leadership in complex academic settings.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the integration of Ngasa traditional values into Islamic Religious Education (IRE) learning at SDN 2 Cisereuh, Brebes Regency, and to identify the strategies, supporting factors, and inhibiting factors involved in the process. The study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation involving IRE teachers, the school principal, and Jalawastu traditional leaders. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, consisting of data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that IRE teachers integrate Ngasa traditional values, particularly togetherness, mutual cooperation (gotong royong), and deliberation (musyawarah), into learning materials, learning processes, teaching materials, and instructional media. These values are contextualized with Islamic teachings, enabling students to understand religious concepts through their socio-cultural experiences. The integration process is supported by students’ enthusiasm, parental support, community participation, and teachers’ understanding of local cultural values. However, several challenges remain, including the limited availability of local culture-based learning resources, the absence of local cultural content in the curriculum, and insufficient professional development related to local wisdom-based learning. This study concludes that the Ngasa tradition serves as a relevant and meaningful source of values for strengthening Islamic Religious Education while contributing to the preservation of local cultural heritage.

Abstract

Realizing Golden Indonesia 2045 requires superior human resources grounded in strong moral character. The family, as the primary socialization agent, plays a crucial role in integrating Islamic Religious Education (PAI) values. This study analyzes the integration of PAI values honesty, patience, sincerity, and responsibility in family parenting dynamics through an interdisciplinary lens of Developmental and Social Psychology. Using a qualitative case-study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with two purposively selected Muslim families in the Kebonarum District, Klaten, Central Java. The findings reveal that effective PAI integration relies not on verbal instruction or coercion, but on consistent non-verbal modeling and psychological internalization. Three key mechanisms were identified: (1) intrinsic motivation, a child's decision to enter pesantren was triggered by reading her mother's diary containing the aspiration; (2) modeling power, a father's calmness proved more effective than harsh discipline in shaping internal obedience; and (3) parenting inconsistency, where economic shifts disrupted consistency and hindered children's self-regulation. The study concludes that internalized Islamic religious education functions as socio-psychological capital, producing independent, responsible, and morally aware individuals, a fundamental prerequisite for Golden Indonesia 2045.

Abstract

Mental health crises among Generation Z are increasing due to digital, academic, and social pressures that contribute to anxiety, depression, burnout, and low psychological resilience. Psychological Capital (PsyCap), encompassing hope, self-efficacy, resilience, and optimism, has been shown to enhance mental well-being. However, existing PsyCap studies remain largely secular and have not extensively integrated Islamic spiritual dimensions, particularly within the context of Muslim Generation Z. This indicates a conceptual gap in developing contextually relevant mental resilience models. This study aims to develop a theoretical model of Islamic Psychological Capital (IPC) by integrating the PsyCap framework with Islamic spiritual values. It employs an integrative literature review approach, analyzing classical and contemporary books, as well as reputable national and international journal articles published between 2020 and 2025, selected for their relevance to PsyCap, mental health, and Islamic spirituality. Data analysis was conducted using thematic synthesis and conceptual mapping to identify structural relationships among key concepts. The findings reveal that PsyCap components correspond conceptually with Islamic values and can be integrated into four main dimensions: hope grounded in raja’ and tawakkal, self-efficacy based on ikhtiar, resilience rooted in sabar and ridha, and optimism derived from husnuzan and syukur. This integration produces the IPC model as a novel conceptual framework explaining the strengthening of Psychological Capital through the internalization of Islamic spiritual values. Thus, this study contributes to Islamic psychology by offering a contextual framework to strengthen the mental resilience of Muslim Generation Z amid modern disruptions.

Abstract

Abstract: The debate over mining governance in Indonesia has underscored the increasingly prominent role of religious actors in shaping public discussions on extractivism, ecological justice, and development policy. Yet, much of the existing scholarship continues to frame religion primarily as either a source of legitimation or a form of resistance to extractive industries, while the dynamics of religious reasoning within digital public spaces remain relatively underexplored. This study examines how Ulil Abshar Abdalla and Ahmad Suaedy articulate religious reasoning in debates surrounding mining governance during 2024–2025. Drawing on discourse analysis of opinion essays, public statements, and social media posts, the study explores how religious arguments are formulated in response to policy dilemmas, ecological concerns, and inequalities in resource distribution. The findings reveal two distinct modes of religious justification. Ulil develops a pragmatic justification centred on maslahat, moderation, and policy negotiation, whereas Suaedy advances a critical-distributive justification focused on inequality, power relations, and ecological justice. This article proposes the concept of dual justification to explain how religion operates simultaneously as a medium of policy negotiation and as a source of ethical critique within contemporary extractive politics in Indonesia.
