Abstract

This research presents the application of discovery learning model to improve students' character and learning outcomes in thematic learning in class IV of SD Negeri Daya 1 Makassar City. The purpose of this research is to describe the application of discovery learning model in thematic learning in class IV of SD Negri Daya 1 Makassar City, and to know the character of students after the application of discovery learning model in thematic learning in class IV of SD Negri Daya 1 Makassar City. The type of research used is class action research. The time and place of this class action research was conducted in the even semester of the 2023 school year in class IV of SD Negeri Daya 1 Makassar City. This research was conducted on Wednesday, January 12. The research subjects were teachers and students of class IV SD Negeri Daya 1 Makassar City which amounted to 23 people. The implementation procedure in this research is through two cycles consisting of several stages, namely, 1) planning 2) implementation 3) observation, and 4) reflection. The instruments used in this study were teacher and student observation sheets, interviews, learning outcome tests, and documentation. The data analysis technique used is descriptive qualitative data analysis. The improvement of students' thematic learning outcomes can be seen in the first cycle of student learning outcomes completeness of 60.86% or a total of 14 students out of 23 students in class IV. B SD Negeri Daya 1 Makassar City can be said to be incomplete and needs to be improved. In cycle II, the completeness of student learning outcomes was 100% or a total of 23 students out of 23 students. This research can be concluded that the application of the discovery learning model can improve student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Abstrak Bahasa Inggris memiliki peran krusial dalam kehidupan kalangan pemuda dan remaja, berfungsi sebagai kunci utama untuk membuka pintu ke berbagai kesempatan dan pengalaman yang penting dalam dunia yang semakin terglobalisasi. Secara keseluruhan, hasil program Pelatihan Speaking for Everyday Communication bagi Pemuda menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan ini mampu memberikan dampak yang luas dan positif di lingkungan masyarakat. Pelatihan ini berhasil mencapai tujuan utamanya, yaitu meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara bahasa Inggris pemuda, membangun kepercayaan diri, serta menciptakan komunitas yang mendukung pembelajaran berkelanjutan. Selain itu, program ini juga memberikan kontribusi terhadap pengembangan pribadi peserta, mempererat kolaborasi dengan mitra masyarakat, dan meningkatkan pemahaman masyarakat akan pentingnya keterampilan bahasa

Abstract

Pelatihan ini bertujuan untuk mengenalkan bahasa Inggris dasar kepada anak-anak usia sekolah dasar golongan elit BB, mengubah persepsi para orang tua mereka terhadap pentingnya bahasa Inggris, dan mensosialisasikan hasil pelatihan ini kepada pemerintah untuk memberikan perhatian lebih terhadap pendidikan bahasa Inggris anak-anak usia sekolah khususnya yang secara ekonomi tergolong tidak mampu. Pelaksanaan kegiatan ini menggunakan metode yang bervariasi, yaitu (1) ceramah: penjelasan tentang bahasa Inggris dasar, (2) diskusi: memberikan kesempatan kepada peserta untuk menanyakan hal-hal yang kurang dipahami, (3) bermain: untuk menghindari kejenuhan; dan (4) Tes: untuk mengetahui kemajuan peserta sesuai dengan apa yang telah diajarkan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa program terlaksana dengan lancar, peserta memperlihatkan minat, motivasi dan perhatian yang baik meskipun kesulitan yang relatif normal dihadapi mereka , orang tua peserta memiliki persepsi yang positif terhadap pentingnya bahasa Inggris, sosialisasi hasil kegiatan direspon positif pemerintah setempat, dan sekitar 90% peserta mengalami peningkatan yang cukup signifikan terhadap materi bahasa Inggris dasar, dan sisanya perlu diberi latihan-latihan tambahan.

Abstract

The focus of this workshop is to increase the interest in learning English for students in understanding and identifying the use of part of speech.  The participants are the students in the Sports Science Study Program, Faculty of Sports Science, State University of Makassar.  The problem of participants is the students’ difficulty in understanding the use of Part of Speech in using English words or sentences both verbally and in writing. The approach used in this workshop consists of three steps which are presenting materials, giving exercises, and  giving online and offline,quizzes. Based on the evaluation results, each assignment given to the participants has a significant impact on their knowledge and understanding of the functions and identification of Part of Speech, especially in giving examples of sentences in English.  Participants who still had errors in using or identifying some English vocabularies could finally show their enthusiasm in understanding the material by asking a lot of questions to practitioner team. The results achieved in this workshop are (1) participants understand the Part of Speech both in identifying and using them  in sentences, (2) the participants are able to make English sentences based on Part of Speech correctly orally or in writing.

Abstract

This study aims to enhance volleyball passing learning outcomes using the demonstration method, thereby improving student learning quality. The research, employing classroom action research, focused on fifth grade students at UPT SPF SDI KAMPUS IKIP. Data was collected across two cycles, with performance test results serving as the primary instrument. Results showed significant improvements between cycle 1 (75.33%) and cycle 2 (100%), demonstrating a 24.67% increase. The study concludes that the demonstration method effectively enhances volleyball passing learning outcomes for fifth grade students at UPT SPF SDI KAMPUS IKIP, suggesting its adoption by physical education teachers facing similar challenges in the Sekadau sub-district.

Abstract

Students taking PJOK lessons, especially in athletics learning in the 60 meter running sport, have not yet reached the maximum level of completion of the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM). This research aims to increase the value of learning outcomes in the 60 meter running material for elementary school students by implementing learning with a play approach for class IV students at UPT SPF SDI IKIP CAMPUS. This research uses the classroom action research (PTK) method with data collection techniques in the form of direct observation. The subjects of this research were all fourth grade elementary school students, with a total of 17 participants. This research activity consists of planning, implementation, observation and reflection. Data is collected through tests and measurements, observation, and documentation. From the results of the analysis, it was found that there was an increase from the initial conditions to cycle I and cycle II. The data obtained showed an increase in the ability to run 60 meters and learning outcomes in initial conditions (35.2%), cycle I (64,7%), and cycle II (88.2%), so that the increase from initial conditions to cycle II was ( 53%).

Abstract

Lecturers’ facial expressions are a primary non-verbal cue, often conveying encouragement, approval, or even subtle disapproval, which can significantly affect learners’ comfort, confidence, and willingness to participate in the classroom interaction. This study investigated the role of lecturers’ facial expression in emotional interactions with EFL learners. The researcher focused on investigating the influence of lecturers’ on EFL learners’ emotional response as well as learners’ motivation and engagement, and learners’ interpretation and response to the lecturers’ facial expression. The data collected through questionnaire, interview, and observation. The researcher then analyzed the data qualitatively. The findings from this research support the notion that lecturers' facial expressions significantly influence learners’ emotional responses, motivation, engagement, and confidence in the classroom. Positive facial expressions, such as smiles and enthusiastic expressions, can create a supportive and comfortable learning environment, motivating learners to participate actively and enhancing their overall learning experience. Furthermore, cultural differences must be considered, as learners may interpret facial expressions in diverse ways, highlighting the need for lecturers to be mindful of their non-verbal cues.

Abstract

Merokok pada remaja merupakan masalah Kesehatan yang serius dan dapat memiliki dampak jangka Panjang. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesadaran bahaya bahaya merokok pada remaja dan cara pencegahannya di sekolah pada siswa melalui pemaparan materi dalam bentuk ceramah dan video. Edukasi ini diberikan melalui ceramah dan video dengan 24 responden siswa. Pemaparan materi ini mengenai bentuk-bentuk pencegahan dan penaggulangan bahaya merokok pada remaja di sekolah. Metode yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan desain one-group pretest-posttest. Hasil edukasi ini menunjukkan adanya perbedaan skor pretest dan posttest pengetahuan siswa tentang bahaya merokok. Melalui edukasi ini dapat meningkatkan skor pengetahuan siswa tentang bahaya merokok. Edukasi yang dilakukan sangat interaktif dalam proses diskusi. Penelitian selanjutnya dapat melakukan pendekatan media lainnya untuk melihat sikap siswa dalam pencegahan dan penanggulangan bahaya merokok yang ada di lingkungan sekolah.

Abstract

Pemberian ASI eksklusif selama enam bulan pertama kehidupan bayi merupakan faktor penting dalam mendukung tumbuh kembang yang optimal. Namun, cakupan ASI eksklusif di Sulawesi Selatan masih berada di bawah target nasional, yakni 58,6% dari target 70%. Salah satu faktor utama yang menyebabkan rendahnya cakupan ini adalah kurangnya pemahaman ibu hamil mengenai manfaat dan manajemen ASI eksklusif. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan metode edukasi yang lebih efektif untuk meningkatkan kesadaran ibu hamil mengenai pentingnya ASI eksklusif. Kegiatan ini dilakukan dengan pendekatan door-to-door kepada 15 ibu hamil di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Cendrawasih Kota Makassar. Tiga tahap utama dalam kegiatan ini meliputi pengambilan data awal untuk mengukur tingkat pengetahuan peserta, pemberian edukasi melalui metode bincang interaktif dan pembagian leaflet, serta evaluasi efektivitas edukasi melalui pengukuran ulang tingkat pengetahuan. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan dalam tingkat pemahaman ibu hamil mengenai ASI eksklusif setelah dilakukan edukasi door-to-door. Sebagian besar peserta mengalami peningkatan skor pemahaman mereka terhadap ASI eksklusif sebesar 30-40% dibandingkan sebelum edukasi diberikan. Metode edukasi door-to-door terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman ibu hamil mengenai pentingnya ASI eksklusif. Pendekatan ini memungkinkan komunikasi yang lebih personal dan interaktif, sehingga pesan edukasi dapat lebih mudah dipahami dan diterapkan oleh peserta.

Abstract

The use of a foreign language in communication takes more effort to avoid misunderstanding between the speaker and the listener who is notan English native speaker. The reason is a foreign language has different letters, pronunciation, and sentence structure. English which is well-known as an international language is an important language to master by Indonesian students to face the globalization. However, taught as a second language, many Indonesian still find it difficult to pronounce English sounds correctly. This workshop aims to reinforce the participants’ pronunciation, especially for English consonant sounds so they can pronoun the sounds correctly. This workshop was held using Google Meet because at that time social distancing was required and the college instructed all the learning process are conducted online. The participants showed positive attitude during the workshop and it was found some difficulties by students while practicing the English consonant sounds.
