Abstract

This study highlights the growing urgency of environmental issues, which need immediate attention. One of the biggest challenges is the lack of environmental awareness, which makes living conditions less comfortably. The study aims to: (1) understand the current level of environmental awareness among the younger generation, and (2) analyse how the Waste-Wise School Program helps shape environmentally responsible behaviour in students. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach, in which data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation from those involved in the program. The Waste-Wise School Program is seen as one way to address the environmental awareness crisis. The study results show that first, environmental awareness character has developed due to technological advancements, facilitating access to information sources; second, character building for environmental awareness in the green generation is cultivated through the Waste-Wise School Program through real and practical actions, helping the green generation to easily understand how the smart waste school program works. The green generation who participated in the Waste-Wise School Program serves as role models to raise awareness about the importance of environmental awareness character, which ensures lasting comfort.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the school's strategy in creating a conducive environment, explain students' perceptions of the school environment, and identify challenges in the formation of attitudes and character at SMAN 2 Pandeglang. Using a qualitative method with a descriptive analysis approach, this study involved field observation, documentation, and in-depth interviews with informants consisting of the principal, teachers, and students. The results of the study indicate that SMAN 2 Pandeglang has implemented various strategies for strengthening culture through routine activities such as flag ceremonies, group exercise, Clean and Fun Wednesdays (RESIK), co-curricular activities, and Taqwa Fridays as a means of instilling the values of discipline, responsibility, and religiosity. Students' perceptions of the school environment show positive developments, with them gradually beginning to internalize character values through these habits, although behavioral inconsistencies are still found in the field. The main challenges faced include the heterogeneity of student character, limited understanding and role of parents, suboptimal maintenance of infrastructure, and the negative influence of social media that hinders students' focus and independent thinking. In conclusion, the synergy between structured school policies and the support of the physical and social environment is crucial for the success of holistic character formation in students.

Abstract

Local wisdom is an important part of a society's cultural identity and plays a major role in shaping the collective consciousness of citizens. However, in the midst of the rapid flow of globalization, the existence of local values is experiencing significant pressure. The younger generation is now increasingly exposed to foreign cultures that are considered more interesting and modern, causing a disconnection from the history and traditions of their own region. In the Old Banten area, the long tradition of Mulud as one form of local wisdom is starting to face serious challenges in its preservation. The lack of knowledge of the younger generation about Banten culture and history shows symptoms of fading traditional values. This condition strengthens the urgency of strengthening civic culture, namely a culture of citizenship that reflects awareness, attitudes, and active participation in the social life of society. Civic culture grows from a sense of belonging to the community and its cultural heritage, and therefore strengthening local wisdom is a strategic step to build cultural resilience and strengthen national character. Through understanding and active involvement of the community in preserving culture, local wisdom can remain alive and relevant in today's social dynamics.
