Abstract

COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF MINAPOLITAN TOURISM AREAS IN PETALONGAN VILLAGE, INDRAGIRI HULU REGENCY. Petalongan village is located in the district of Pasir Penyu, Indragiri Hulu Regency-Riau Province. This village is still underdeveloped. Even though petalongan village has a lot of potential to be developed. In this case, the service activity aims to change people’s behavior in organizing, utilizing or managing their nature, traditions and culture to improve the community’s economy through the development of a tourist village minapolitan area. The targets of this service activity are BUMDes managers and PKK mothers. The service model uses Community Based Tourism (CBT), starting from mapping village potential, socialization, FGD, training, and mentoring. Based on the mapping and FGD, the potential of a village that can be developed is to make the village a minapolitan area for aquaculture-based tourism. The training activities focused on catfish and tilapia farming for BUMDes. Product development training is carried out aimed at supporting tourism and is also carried out in order to increase community understanding, attitudes and expertise in utilizing the potential of the village. This community service activity has had a positive impact on increasing community awareness and expertise in utilizing the existing potential by cultivating fish in the lake and having the will to develop the village as a tourist destination.

Abstract

The purpose of this community service activity is to provide knowledge and technology to the members of the Sungai Paku Village Natural Fish Farmers Cultivation Group, Kampar Kiri District, Kampar Regency in resolving problems found so far, especially regarding the technology of baung fish farming in ponds and cages. The method used in this activity is the method of lectures, discussions and direct demonstrations. The results of the evaluation of knowledge changes obtained 14 people (70%) have been able to absorb the material provided with the predicate very well, 3 people (15%) can absorb the material given with a good predicate, 2 people (10%) can absorb material given with enough predicate, and only 1 person (5%) can absorb material given with less predicate and not found participants who get predicate less. The results of the skills evaluation showed that the participants of the activity have been able to practice the material provided especially about the manufacture of fish feed (pellets) and how to cope fish diseases in aquaculture. The results of the impact evaluation showed that activity has benefited members of the existing farmer groups, especially in the provision of fish feed (pellets) and management of fish diseases in aquaculture.

Abstract

Natural food enrichment, especially water fleas, is an important effort in improving the performance of freshwater fish larvae. The enrichment process that will be carried out is influenced by several factors that need to be considered, namely the dose of vitamin supplements, pH, and time of enrichment so that the vitamins can be absorbed by the intestines and the nutritional value of water fleas increases. This study aims to examine and determine how the effect of the dose of viterna, water pH, and time of enrichment on the rate of the fulfillment of the gut of water fleas by viterna. This research was conducted from January 3 to 7, 2022 at the Laboratory of Fish Hatchery and Breeding, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, Riau University. The treatment in this study is the rate of the fulfillment of the water fleas' intestines during the water fleas natural feed enrichment technique which was carried out with three different pH test factors, different doses, and different enrichment times. The results showed that the water fleas enriched for 5 hours, at a pH of 7 and a dose of 60 ml/L of viterna showed the best filling rate of the water fleas' intestines at 100%, and the water fleas' intestines were filled with viterna compared to other treatments.

Abstract

Terwujudnya pertanian terpadu di Desa Langsat Permai, Kecamatan Bunga Raya, Kabupaten Siak diinisiasi melalui kegiatan PPDM di tahun 2019 dengan pembangunan usaha perikanan berupa keramba ikan pada kanal di sekitar lahan pertanian. Pada tahun 2021, telah dilaksanakan kegiatan pember­dayaan petani dalam optimalisasi budidaya ikan lele di dalam keramba sekaligus pendampingan dalam pembuatan pakan ikan berbasis limbah pertanian. Namun, bibit ikan yang akan dibudidayakan masih didatangkan dari luar desa. Oleh karena itu, pada tahun 2022 dilanjutkan dengan pendampingan pembenihan ikan lele dan pembuatan pakan ikan cacing sutra yang dikembangkan dari fermentasi kotoran sapi dibantu dengan bakteri selulolitik. Mitra kegiatan yang menjadi sasaran kegiatan yaitu anggota kelompok karang taruna Desa Langsat Permai. Pendampingan kelompok karang taruna dimulai dari penentuan jantan betina ikan lele, penentuan induk yang siap untuk dipijahkan, proses penyuntikan ikan dengan hormon ovaprin, dan perawatan benih ikan yang telah dihasilkan dari proses pemijahan. Berdasarkan hasil pendampingan yang telah dilakukan, penge­tahuan dan keterampilan anggota kelompok karang taruna meningkat diban­dingkan sebelum kegiatan pengabdian dilakukan, sedangkan pada budidaya cacing sutra diketahui bahwa fermentasi kotoran sapi belum cukup optimal sehingga ditambahkan ampas tahu sebagai tambahan media budidaya cacing sutra.

Abstract

Asian redtail catfish culture activities are still constrained by the low survival rate in the seeds phase, one of the causes is cannibalism behavior. Several attempts have been made to improve the survival of these fish, and several studies have shown that turmeric powder can increase survival in several species. Based on this, this study aimed to evaluate the addition of turmeric flour with the coating method on the survival rate of Asian redtail catfish (Hemibagrus nemurus) seeds. This study used a completely randomized design using four treatments and was repeated three times. The treatment used was the supplemented turmeric flour to commercial feed which had a protein of 40%., the treatments were 0.0 g kg-1 (K), 2.5 g kg-1 (TK2.5), 5.0 g kg-1 (TK5.0), and 7.5 g kg-1 feed (TK7.5). The size of the Asian redtail catfish was 2.09±0.17 cm, with a stocking density of 3 L-1, and reared in an aquarium measuring 38x25x22 cm3. The study was conducted for 30 days and fed at satiation four times a day. The parameters measured were survival, cannibalism (cannibal type, cannibal index, normal death), and growth performance (absolute weight, absolute length, specific weight growth, and specific length growth). The results showed that TK5.0 was able to increase the survival rate and decrease the cannibalism index and normal death rate. Furthermore, the supplemented turmeric flour did not have an impact on the absolute weight, absolute length, specific growth rate, and specific length.

Abstract

Ikan gabus memiliki nilai ekonomis penting bagi masyarakat melayu. Namun dalam budidayanya masih mengalami kendala yaitu pertumbuhannya lambat.  Beberapa pendekatan telah dilakukan untuk memacu pertumbuhan, salah satunya adalah dengan perendaman hormon pertumbuhan rekombinan (rGH).  Tujuan kajian ini untuk mengevaluasi perendaman hormon rGH terhadap sintasan dan pertumbuhan larva ikan gabus dengan dosis berbeda. Penelitian ini  menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dengan 4 perlakuan dan 3 kali ulangan, dengan ukuran larva 0,7±0,00 cm dengan padat tebar 2 ekor/L. Dosis perendaman larutan hormon rGH pada penelitian ini adalah 0, 1,5, 2 dan 2,5 mg/L, setiap perlakuan direndam selama 1 jam dengan padat tebar 6 ekor/L. Perendaman larva ikan gabus menggunakan dosis berbeda hormon rGH berbeda berpengaruh terhadap pertumbuhan bobot dan panjang, laju pertumbuhan spesifik, sintasan serta bobot biomassa larva ikan gabus secara sangat nyata (P<0,01). Dosis rGH yang optimal untuk perendaman larva ikan gabus yaitu 2,5 mg/L (P4) dengan peningkatan pertumbuhan bobot 2,83 g, pertumbuhan panjang 2,72 cm, laju pertumbuhan spesifik 3,11%, sintasan 16,67% dan bobot biomassa 83,53g jika dibandingkan dengan perlakuan kontrol.Snakehead fish is an economic fish in Malay society. The Problems of cultivation this fish are slow growth and low survival rate. Some approaches to stimulate the growth of fish has been done, one of the ways was by immersion rGH.  The research aimed was to evaluated the immersing effect of rGH hormone with different doses on the survival and growth of snakehead fish larvae. This research was carried out with a completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 3 replications, the larvae used measuring 0.7±0.00 cm with 2 fish/L on a stocking density. Dose of rGH hormones in this study were 0, 1.5, 2 and 2.5 mg/L, immersion of rGH done for 1 hour with a stocking of 6 fish/L for each treatment. The result showed that, rGH could increase survival rate and growth (P<0.01) of snakehead larvae. The optimal dose of rGH for immersing snakehead larvae was 2.5 mg/L (P4) with an increase in weight growth of 2.83 g, length growth of 2.72 cm, specific growth rate of 3.11%, survival rate of 16.67%. and biomass weight of 83.53g when compared to the control treatment.

Abstract

Sengarat fish (Belodontichthys dinema, Bleeker 1851) is one of the most important freshwater fish. No research has been Relationship of weight length and condition Factors of Sengarat Fish in Kampar River waters. Sampling was conducted in March-October 2022 using gill net fishing gear and bubu in the Kampar watershed in the Buluh Nipis Village area, Siak Hulu District, Kampar Regency, Riau. Data analyzed using Ms Excel 2010 application from the results of fish growth pattern analysis (n = 16) showed a value = 0.0118 and b value = 2.7765, R2 of 0.976. The growth pattern of sengarat fish is negative allometric. The condition factor of sengarat fish is relatively good, with a value of 0.497 and Wr = 129.79.

Abstract

The use of dish soap is certainly very effective for cleaning our kitchen utensils. The problem that often occurs with dish soap is the presence of irritant contact dermatitis which is a cytotoxic effect on the skin, due to exposure to chemicals in soap. So one of the solutions to reduce it is the use of natural ingredients, one of which is lime, because it can give a soft impression, has bacterial activity, and moisturizes the skin. Community service activities carried out in Rantau Bertuah Village, Minas District, Siak Regency, Riau Province, one of the villages with great potential for lime plants. The purpose of this activity is to teach about making liquid dish soap by utilizing natural ingredients of lime. In addition, it is also expected to encourage the motivation of potential UMKM to PKK women in Kampung Rantau Bertuah, so that they can improve the family economy. The stages of activities carried out in this service program include the socialization stage, the demonstration stage of making dish soap, and the discussion stage. The number of participants who participated in the socialization activities were 15 PKK women. The results of the service showed that the people of Kampung Rantau Bertuah were very enthusiastic and responded positively to the socialization of making laundry soap

Highlight Research The dose, duration of immersion, and time interval of immersion of the estradiol-17β affect the rate of cannibalism and increase the seed survival of Asian redtail catfish in low treatment in this research. Over optimum treatment increased the incidence of cannibalism at Asian redtail catfish and decrease growth performance. Treatment of estradiol-17β, give the ability of Asian redtail catfish to live on high density The treatment of estradiol-17β, has an effect on concentration plasma of body testosterone and cortisol   Abstract The cannibalistic behavior of Asian redtail catfish greatly hampers the supply of these fish seeds, invoking the need to be controlled. Estradiol is one of the hormones that has been known to reduce cannibalistic behavior on fish. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of estradiol-17β immersion on the incidence of cannibalism in the rearing of post larvae of Asian redtail catfish. Post larvae was treated with a combination of doses of estradiol hormone 0, 1, and 2 ppm and immersion time of two and four hours with immersion intervals of three and six days with a completely randomized design. Each treatment had a fish density of 10 fish L-1, with mean size individual length of 6.73 ± 0.73 mm (three days of age after hatched), with four replications. Fish were fed with tubifex up until satiation point and reared for 30 days. The results showed that the administration of the estradiol-17β through immersion with a dose of 1 ppm for two hours and interval of six days was able to reduce the level of cannibalism and increase the survivability. A further increase in dose, immersion time, and interval had the opposite effect. Estradiol-17β immersion with certain dose, duration, and interval affected the rate of cannibalism, growth rate, and survival. Estradiol-17β immersion at a dose of 1 ppm for two hours and six days interval was the best to reduce the level of cannibalism and normal mortality in post larvae of Asian redtail catfish.

Abstract

One of the obstacles in Asian redtail catfish hatchery is the high cannibalism incidence. Cannibalism is associated with aggressive behavior caused by hormonal metabolism especially of testosterone. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of testosterone administration on the cannibalism incidence in the Asian redtail catfish juveniles.  The experiment was conducted by rearing fish with initial length of 4.09±0.19 cm in 16 of 20 L aquariums with a density of 2 fish L-1. The experiment was designed with a completely randomized design with 4 treatments which were different level of 17α-methyltestosterone supplementation in feed, i.e., 0 mg kg-1 feed (A) as control, 7.5 mg kg-1 feed (B), 15 mg kg-1 feed (C), and 30 mg kg-1 feed (D). Each treatment has 4 replications. Fish fed experimental diet (40% protein) 4 times a day to satiation for 30 days. The parameters observed were type and index of cannibalism, aggressive behavior, survival rate, normal mortality, growth performance, hormones concentrations (estradiol, testosterone, and cortisol), and water quality. The results showed that cannibalism type II (the fish eaten completely or missing) and cannibalism index increased with the increasing doses of testosterone administration in the feed with the highest cannibalism incidence was 40.63%. The highest survival rate was found in treatment B (73.75±2.50%) and was not significantly different from the control treatment (69.38±2.39%). No differences in testosterone concentration and in the growth performance among the treatments.  However, there was a trend of decrease in the estradiol concentration of Asian redtail catfish juveniles fed ration supplemented with the increasing doses of 17α-methyltestosterone. Based on the results obtained in this research, estradiol changed in the body's plasma, it appears that there was a role for plasma estradiol concentration in controlling cannibalism of Asian redtail catfish juveniles. It concluded that the testosterone administration affected the cannibalism incidence in the Asian redtail Catfish.
