Abstract

The group of UMKM Swakarya, located in Desa Rulung Sari, Lampung Selatan is a home industry that produce variety of processed chips. This Swakarsa group is one of the UMKM that was initiated in 2020. At that time, the sluggish economy occurred, due to the Covid 19 pandemic, so the idea arose to sell processed products, namely banana chips and cassava chips. The problem with this partner of Swakarya UMKM is that the chip product turns out to be not hard like chips in general because the product does not drain the oil perfectly with a drainer, so the product cannot be stored longer. The Unila team provides solutions by using appropriate technology tools in order to drain the oil. In the manufacture of this chip product, after being fried, a spinner is used to drain the oil so that the chip product has a little oil content and is ready to be packaged and marketed. By providing this spinner, a tool for draining oil, it is expected that it will increase the production capacity of chips and the quality of chips produced by the partner for the better.

Abstract

Pengelasan merupakan salah satu teknologi penyambungan logam yang penting dalam aplikasinya di dunia industri manufaktur. Pengelasan maju merupakan teknik pengnyambungan logam tanpa proses pencairan logam induk atau sering dikenal dengan solid-state welding. Teknik pengelasan maju telah berkembang pesat seiring dengan kemajuan teknologi material dan proses manufaktur logam industri. Meski demikian, pemahaman tentang pengelasan maju di kalangan guru dan siswa sekolah menengah keujuruan (SMK) di Bandar Lampung masih terbatas dan belum terdiseminasikan dengan baik. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat (PKM) ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi guru dan siswa SMK 2 Mei Bandar Lampung dalam bidang pengelasan maju. melaksanakan diseminasi hasil-hasil penelitian dosen dan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi guru dan siswa SMK 2 Mei Bandar Lampung melalui pelatihan pengelasan maju. Kegiatan PKM ini difokuskan pada teknologi pengelasan tanpa pencairan (solid-state welding) dengan teknik friction stir welding (FSW) dan friction welding (FW) yang dapat diaplikasikan dengan mesin frais dan mesin bubut di Lab produksi. Kegiatan ini secara keseluruhan, mampu meningkatan pemahaman peserta sebesar 51%. Pelatihan ini juga diharapkan dapat menjadi model untuk peningkatan kompetensi guru dan siswa di SMK melalui diseminasi hasil penelitian dosen Unila yang dapat diterapkan di masing-masing sekolah SMK di Bandar Lampung

Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the remaining life of the CL-5 shell cooler using the fitness for service method (FFS-1/API 579). The evaluation is conducted through the inspection process of components using Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods. This study is aimed at identifying thickness changes, analyzing the types of corrosion occurring in the CL-5 shell cooler, calculating the minimum allowable shell thickness, determining the Maximum Allowable Working Pressure (MAWP), estimating the corrosion rate, assessing the remaining life, and determining the operational feasibility of these components. Calculations are performed using the FFS-1/API 579 standard. The research results indicate that the total loss in 2011 and 2021 was 0.2 mm and 0.414 mm, respectively. The corrosion rates observed on the CL-5 shell cooler in 2011 and 2021 were 0.067 mm/year and 0.13 mm/year. Based on the minimum thickness and MAWP values evaluation, the CL-5 shell cooler is still fit for operation. Analysis of the remaining life of the CL-5 shell cooler indicates that the remaining life in 2011 and 2021 was 7.81 years and 6.83 years, respectively. Based on the above description, it can be concluded that the CL-5 shell cooler can still be operated.

Abstract

Badan Pusat Statistik, tahun 2012 menyatakan penggunaan bahan bakar minyak bumi di Indonesia sebesar 45.070.036.967 liter, tahun 2016 sebesar 48.655.005.967 liter meningkat dari tahun 2012 sebesar 7.95%. Untuk mengatasi krisis bahan bakar minyak bumi penggunaan campuran bioethanol dengan pertamax akan membantu mengurangi penggunaan bahan bakar minyak bumi, karena bioethanol salah satu energi alternatif diproduksi dari bahan baku yang dapat diperbaharui. Selain itu, bioethanol juga memiliki keunggulan angka oktan yang tinggi hal ini bermanfaat dalam campuran bahan bakar mencegah knocking saat pembakaran. Campuran bahan bakar antara pertalite dan bioethanol menghasilkan campuran yang mampu menaikan daya engkol 10.4% dan menghemat bahan bakar 12,99%. Pada penelitian ini digunakan campuran bahan bakar pertamax dan bioethanol dengan variasi pertamax murni (E0) dan campuran pertamax dan bioethanol 5% (E5). Pengujian dilakukan pada putaran mesin 2000 rpm dan variasi bukaan katup beban dinamometer 4 putaran. Hasil pengujian yang terbaik pengaruh bukaan katup beban campuran bahan bakar bioethanol 5% putaran mesin 2000 rpm bukaan katup beban 0.5 dengan meningkatkan daya engkol 2.14% dan campuran bahan bakar bioethanol 5% pada putaran mesin 2000 rpm bukaan katup 0.5 putaran katup putaran diperoleh penurunan konsumsi bahan bakar spesifik engkol 6.79%.

Abstract

Zeolites are alumina silicate compounds which have the ability as adsorbents. In this study, the ability of zeolite was used to filter air for the combustion process in order to improve the performance of a 4-strokes diesel engine. The zeolite activated by NaOH was used to clean the surface of the pores and get rid of impurities, so that the zeolite could bind nitrogen gas dan water vapor when used. In these tests, zeolites were activated by NaOH using 1N;2N;3N;4N normality and physical activation at 200OC for 1 hour. The zeolites were then formed into tablets and packaged in a frame that was placed on diesel engine air filter. The experiments were operated at engine speeds of 1500, 2000, 2500, 3000 rpm. It is found that chemically and physically activated zeolites could improve the performance of the engine. The results showed that the best increase of  averagebrake power was 1.6605% occurring at zeolite activated using NaOH 1N and the best decrease of avarage brake specific fuel consumption was 2.836% using also NaOH 1N – physical activated zeolite. Both occurred at dense zeolites arrangement.

Abstract

Bioethanol is ethanol made from plants such as cassava, sugarcane, sago, which are processed through hydrolysis, fermentation, distillation and dehydration processes. Lampung Province is one of the largest producers of cassava in Indonesia, with the total productivity of 5,451,312 tons in 2017, and 6,683,758 tons in 2018 or there was an increase of 22,61% compared to 2017. From this data, it is possible to produce bioethanol, where every 1 kg of cassava can produce 0,106 liters of bioethanol. This is what underlies this research to investigate the effect of blending bioethanol of 99% with pertamax and bioethanol on the engine torque. Blending bioethanol of 99% can homogeusly mix. The engine used in this study is a Kohler gasoline engine equipped with a VDAS (Versatile Data Accession System) instrument unit in determining the parameters of engine performance. The blending of bioethanol of 99% as big as 14% (E14) gave the highest value of torque at 1 rotation of dynamometer valve opening and engine speed of 2000 rpm.
